whenever i'm choosing a bookmark for my next book, i either spend 20 minutes judging each one i have based off of vibes, color, and the hammurabi code. or i just stuff the nearest uno card in there.

my favorite genre of people are store clerks right around closing time.

the collective breath of letting their customer service facade fall off. muttered inside jokes and quiet snickers so as to not disturb the few remaining customers. there's this beautiful camaraderie in their behavior. the smell of windex and the sound of the bell on the door signal that we made it. you now belong to me, between the quiet aisles. my suffering is your suffering, your relief is my relief. proximity can make us soulmates. or friends. or perhaps just strip away at us, slowly, to the simplicity of our humanity.
