The girls had a big adventure with an ENORMOUS (probably 6” long) preying mantis this afternoon. RBG was very scared of it and wouldn’t come anywhere near the window... Schroedie wanted to play with it.

Best toy I’ve given the girls in a while:

A short (about 6″ high) box (probably came from amazon)

Sealed shut with openings cut out in opposite corners

Stuffed with wadded up wrapping paper

With some catnip tossed in there

They love it. I heard them rustling around it just now and glanced over the arm of the couch to see Ruth Bader Ginsburg BURST FORTH and then chase her sister (who’d been monitoring the “door”) across the room.

Evening routine: If I haven’t sat down on the couch or in the chair by 9:10 PM, Schroedinger wanders around underfoot and yells at me until I do, because she simply CANNOT be expected to take her post-dinner, pre-10-pm-running-around-time nap anywhere else.
