I got that book at my library book sale. I usually like to do collages and mixed media pieces but couldn’t bring myself to actually cut up the book. So I just took pictures and pasted them in, which actually looks kind of cool (to me) because I was able to like.. adjust the colors and use layer styles and all that.

Anyways, John is a cicada because of the rebirth theme in going back to the Martin house after his first failure. Trauma changes you in a way that makes you feel like a new (not necessarily better) person.

Gary is a sphinx moth. A kind of sphinx moth, the Death’s head Hawk Moth, usually represents death. Moths also represent an ending of times. Gary’s goal is to summon the antichrist, but he ultimately fails and gets dragged back to hell himself, both represent an end of sorts.

Lastly, Amy is a carrion beetle because of the associations with death and corpses. However, beetles also symbolize being persistent in troubling times, referencing her “you’ve been so brave,” to John.

he hates kneeling in the pews. his knees always hurt and the bruises from previous nights only make it worse. but he bows his head in prayer nonetheless and as he focuses he can hear lisa quietly whispering hopes of her own to whoever will hear her. she asks for candy and new parents but john only ever asks for forgiveness.

i've been having a lot of thoughts(tm) about john and lisa's childhoods and how john is canonically bisexual and how john has the most fucked up ever relationship possible with god and faith and all of that combined into a little pile of run on sentences and weird formatting and my own experiences growing up queer and catholic

i put a lot of work into this fic and i would really love if you guys read it and gave me some thoughts <3 it's defo the most experimental thing i've ever written but i had a lot of time working on it, so i hope you have just as much time reading it :3

My Future Islands fanart post!

They deserve so much appreciation! :)

Future Islands is an amazing band, their music is full of emotions and they have THE BEST live performances! They have given me so many great inspirations for how deeply felt their music is and how dedicated they're to what they do. I was lucky to have met these guys and they're just also just the sweetest people ever.

They'll probably have more shows in north America and Europe next year, if they come to your town, seize your chance to see them! They keep their ticket price low and the lines are usually not too crazy so I recommend going a couple hours early to get front rows for the best experience, it's really really worth it! :)
