George Lucas can pry Force Sensitive Han from my cold dead hands.
I love everything about this theory, but my favourite part of it by far is now utterly offended heâd be by the suggestion.

âButtons and Jimâ published in the comic anthology âFlightâ volume 8 in 2011. Written by Steven âShaggyâ Shanahan, art by Katie Shanahan (thats-a-me!) colour assistance by Jason Caffoe and Gerry Duchemin.
I loved/ still love this comic! The expressions make me laugh every time
You should read Katieâs webcomic too!
Today, June 27th, 2016, marks the 30th anniversary of the theatrical release of Labyrinth, the magical Jim Hensen movie starring David Bowie and produced by George Lucas.Â
Itâs a fantastical story of a teenage girlâs nightmareâs come to life, in which Sarah wishes for the Goblin King to take away her annoying baby brother who she is always forced to babysit - but of course when it happens, realizes she didnât want that outcome at all and must go rescue him by journeying to the center of the labyrinth.Â
Of course readers should definitely check out many of the books on Sarahâs bookshelves and other classics that inspired the movie - Maurice Sendak, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, The Grimm fairy tales, The Nutcracker - but here are some more recent books that fans of Labyrinth might also enjoy!Â
Lips Touch Three Times by Laini Taylor
These illustrated stories all feature life-altering (though not exactly swoon-worthy) kisses. Drawing inspiration from Rossettiâs The Goblin Market and other folklore to create three delicious stories, Laini Taylor creates three romantic and atmospheric tales.
The Hollow Kingdom by Clare B Dunkle
Feisty orphan Kate is taken to be the bride of The Goblin King in this fantasy set during the 19th century, perfect for fans of magic and adventure.
The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett
Readers who love the mischievous goblin characters of Labyrinth will be swept away in this YA series in the Discworld universe!
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
In this fresh urban fantasy from the magical Holly Black, a brother and sister are swept away in an adventure in the world of Faerie.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
This novel is a fantastical coming-of-age tale combining magic, warfare, politics, and romance.
The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter
These dark feminist fairy tale reimaginings are have are slightly erotic and definitely sinister, with dashes of horror and lyrical writing.
Stolen Songbird by Danielle L Jensen
A young woman is kidnapped to be the bride of a troll and learns that thereâs more than the myths and a rebellion brewing in this magical, romantic adventure.
The Goblin King by Shona Husk
This steamy adult romance novel features a unique twist on Celtic mythology in which a young woman summons a cursed goblin king to save her.
Deathless by Catherynne Valente
In this lyrical and enchanting re-imagining of Russian folklore, master storyteller Cat Valente weaves a tale of a young woman magically transformed into the beautiful bride of a Russian overlord.
Find all these titles in the Lawrence Public Library catalog!Â
What books for you recommend for fans of Labyrinth?Â
LadyArwen: Great booklist theme!!!
I, your Friendly Neighborhood Librarian absolve you from all literary sins and encourage you to go and read what you like on the platform of your choosing.
Never feel guilty for reading fan fic at 3am. Everything is fanfic in the end. From fanfic you were made, to fanfic you shall return.
Read that which has been panned by literary snobs. Read novels churned out by the dozen by authors with a dozen pseudonyms.
Read your US and People. Flip through Popular Science just for the gadgets section. Read articles about the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
Read books outside your comfort zone. Donât finish them if you donât want. Itâs the bookâs fault, not yours.
Read in your comfort zone. Read a YA and romance and science if and fantasy.
Skip over the boring bits. Read it because you heard about it from Oprah or because everyone else is reading it.
Giggle yourself silly at something so poorly written and full of author wish fulfillment that you just canât stop reading it.
Donât listen to the keepers of taste and culture. Their reward comes every time they pat themselves on the back for their superior taste.
Donât listen to the academics that bemoan the downfall of society and learning. They have been doing that since Socratesâ time.
Donât listen to the tv presenters who insist you are not cultured if you havenât read from this list of books.
Audio books count as reading. Ebooks count as reading. Fanfic of questionable quality counts as reading. Rereading books for the third time counts as reading. Reading to your child counts as reading. Reading from the back of the cereal box (and doing the puzzle) counts as reading.
TL;DR: read what you want. Donât be ashamed. Never let someone try to make you feel bad for how or what you read and enjoy. Tell them that I, your Friendly Neighborhood Librarian have absolved you from your guilt and have given you special blessings. Go forth and read, my child.
Donât listen to the keepers of taste and culture. Their reward comes every time they pat themselves on the back for their superior taste.

That cat became an icon THIS MONTH AND IS STILL ONE.
thatâs Jo-Pawveski, a stray who wandered onto the ice and past the nashville predators bench during round 2 of playoffs. They eventually picked her up and sent her to the humane society.
Here she is.
The SAN JOSE SHARKS won that game and attributed it to her, naming her after the Sharks captain: Joe Pavelski. When they found out she was a girl, they changed her name to Jo instead of Joe.
She became an instant good luck charm after that as the Sharks won every game at home that series and moved onto round three.
Since then, every game, they stack pucks and stick a idol to Jo for luck.
This little cat has had merchendise made out of her. Sheâs literally almost replaced SJ sharkie as maschot of the team.
I mean. Iâm not making this up. I HAVE A RALLY TOWEL OF HER THEY GAVE OUT FOR GAME 1 OF THE 3RD ROUND. I OWN THIS FUCKING THING:
FURRIES HAVE BEEN SHOWING UP DRESS AS HER.Â
She had her own livestream to check in on her.
SHEâS IN THE PREGAME OPENING ANIMATION
And so I know what youâre gonna say here.
Well⊠what happened to Jo, though.
Good news, This week, as Sharks made their first Stanley Cup, Jo and another Kitty were adopted.Â
And that kids, is the story of JO PAWVELSKI.
The stray black cat of the San Jose Sharks.Â
Iâm beaming with shark pride and I ainât even that big into hockey

Welp. There it is.  The piece thatâs been kicking me in the pants for the past two-ish months.  It seemed like such a simple idea at the time.  Triptychs, right?  Past, present, and future.
Gonna have this one at Heroes Con next month. Â
