sawyer hadn’t been back home for very long. after the success of monsters and mayhem and the follow up success of monsters in their minds he’d been sure that he’d never return to kola. he wanted to do the new york city writer thing, but then writers block hit him in the face like a brick. he was trying to come up with new ideas so that he could get back into the craft that he loved, and he wasn’t exactly paying attention as he walked down the street. he was taken aback as someone bumped into him, and he blinked at the girl as she pulled her earbuds out. she was definitely familiar, but he couldn’t quite place her. “don’t worry about it,” he said with a shrug, “things happen… you look like you could use a little help.”

____ august was all hands. it was something that both her parents had teased her endlessly about. still, it wasn’t like she could help it and, save for a handful of times, it never hurt anybody. she was expressive, there wasn’t anything wrong with that. if she hadn’t been reenacting one of her bravest babysitting tales, she wouldn’t have gotten a peak at a familiar face and that would be catastrophic. “ okay, okay, no big deal, but i may or may not be intensely screwed if you move to the left. um, so, don’t move to your left. just, for a few seconds, or minutes - ” the words fell out of her mouth like a flood, a foolish smile still helplessly left behind on her lips. act normal, this is totally absolutely normal. she shifted her weight to one leg, pushing loose dark hair behind her ears, “ it’s just this psycho ex i had, or have,” the reminder of the terrible break up was enough to make her shrill, “ just , . . don’t look. ”
____ it wasn’t ideal. salem could easily think of ten other things they would rather be doing, and that was just off the top of their head. but when their mother asked them to watch over their brother ( along with a few neighborhood kids ) , they couldn’t bring themselves to say no. silently counting the four spirited children, they resigned to babysitting from the park bench for at least another hour before a change of scenery would be unavoidable. “ it was supposed to rain. ” they looked up at the clear sky, leaning into the wood bench, “ i’m glad it didn’t , but the weather man has seriously lost my trust. ”
____ it wasn’t the first time she’d been ambushed while getting coffee. it was the first time that she’d been ambushed with a plant. bouquets, chocolates, portfolios, sure. but this ? this had her working harder to stay enthusiastic until they left her sight. “ do you know who that was ? ” she questioned her assistant, curiosity bordering her expression, they unfortunately looked more than clueless. great. “ not to worry, it’s fine. check with the office and get back to me. ” she said, rattling off a few more details before they scurried off. the weight in her hands reminded her of the shrubbery in her arms. “ what is this ? ” she murmured, she was editor in chief, not a gardener. a sympathetic look rested with the plant, her manicured finger touching one of a leaf, sucking in a breath regretfully and whispered to the plant, “ i’m sorry, but they gave you to the wrong woman. ”

prue has been living in kola for a mere few days now and is currently being unknowingly targeted by bradley because of the large amount of property and money her estranged aunt left her in her will. it was unexpected and strange, and prue made her move to move to kola after that, curious to see where the long lost aunt had been living. prev she actually didn’t have much of a permanent living situation. being a photo journalist, prue liked to have the freedom to go wherever her assignments took her. thankfully, because of the connections her family has and the collection of friends she’d made, it wasn’t terribly hard to stay with someone for a few days to do a shoot. or to rough it out in a motel room, no matter how disgusted her parents would be if they were to have found out.
now, prue is taking freelance jobs here and there until she figures out what she wants to do with the money that her aunt left her. between the stubborn headedness and sarcasm, it can sometimes be hard to try and convince her of the right choice, for that reason, her family has decided to step away and let her figure it out herself.
claire is clint’s younger sibling! being raised as one of seven children was a lot for them, and they were a little more reticent than some of their other siblings tended to be. favoring quiet, claire found herself reading a lot, particularly, about numbers. there was a fascination she had with the simplicity of math, especially when they were younger. as they got older, they started to see the different paradoxes and complications that were in math, and that they could find answers, patterns and codes in math. aside from their passion, they’ve also always had a clear mind. perhaps it was seeing their parents have to struggle to find the right answer that made them this way, but they often see the world in black and white. even with knowing that shades of grey exists, claire still have a rough time understanding the reasonings.
because of her passion for math, claire was eventually given a scholarship to boston university where she studies physics and mathmatics before getting her masters at nyu. up until the new year, they’d been in nyu working on a proof that could be epic in the math world, but had a mental breakdown before they could finish it. after becoming so withdrawn and hyper sensitive that even they sibling from half way across the country could tell, they understood it was time to step away. so now they’re in kola, taking a semester off. although they plan to go back in the fall, claire’s taking advantage of their time in the small town, and trying not to self sabotage themselves and work more.
shaila is the editor in chief of oracle, ( compare to vogue ) some may recognize her from being featured in the 30 under 30 article for 2018 or from her time in the spotlight as one half of the magazine power couple that was shaila/dash! making her start in nyc, shai has always been looking for new connections and a way to the top. after getting her degree in journalism, her parents were disappointed to see her going to a fashion magazine instead of trying to go for a newspaper or something that was ( or at least seemed ) like more of an important job than that. but her job was important, at least she knew that. she wanted to work to encourage other women and people of color that anything was achievable, because she was going to achieve everything. and her keen eye for fashion and her invaluable heart helped her figure out the balance between being a progressive editorial/fashion magazine.
but she was never cut throat and while everyone has their fair share of enemies in the field, she’s tried her best to keep it at a minimum. after becoming editor in chief, shai’s now focused on getting there website views up and increasing their web based fans while keeping the issues relevant in an ever changing world.
beau is a rich boy who moved from NYC to kola because of his childhood best friend/ride or die mirabella was and he’d basically do anything if his gut tells him too. which is conveniently, how he made a fortune in the stock market. he’d always had a mind for numbers and more book smart than he leads on.
claudia is a Full on nerd. her hobbies include coding , tinkering and toying . she has a twin brother who she absolutely loves. she was raised by a single mother and having them both put a lot on their mom who didn’t understand fully how much care they were in need off. it was her brother who sort of stepped up and learned how to cook and Claudia followed only in their footsteps, learning how to do basic things. when she started school, she loved it. it made sense to her and it wasn’t long until teachers were aching to put her in advanced courses, but that was pretty hard to do when her mother was barely seen. when she decided to go to the summer class, her mom wasn’t always on time to pick her up. she didn’t mind, really, instead she just hung out in the library in the towns center. that’s where she started her little business. a lot of the students that attended summer school were stuck at the library waiting for their parents, except they we’re a lot dumber than she was, and they were willing to pay quite a bit to pay for her services. it started by proofreading essays and helping with homework and then into writing essays/projects for summer school and when class got back in session, she had more business than she had to do with. now, she is part of the bling ring with a few other miscreants who sneak into rich peoples houses and rob them blind, and have a little fun.
a kindergarten teacher with a mound of debt , rowan is sincerely a Hot Mess. she’s lacking in balance and can come across as indecisive when it comes to important decisions and seeks answers in herself rather than others. but that go with the Flo attitude has landed her in several sticky situations that she’d trying to work herself out of.
hyde is a nice guy with a gregarious past. in high school and college he was known as the class clown, always ready to have a good time and mess around with his other classmates. but the grades he got and the connections he made got him recruited by the fbi when he left college, training secretly in dc under the cover of interning at a investing firm. for a few years he worked in the new york office before moving to kola on a convert mission where he’s been for the past two years.
bellamy was born/raised in brooklyn. as an up and coming stand up comedian, bellamy has been trying to make a name for himself since he was 18 getting snickered at in the small comedy clubs in new york. after one of his bits going viral on youtube and facebook, he gained some momentum and got a netflix special he’s filming two weeks from now in la. he moved to kola last month to tour on the west coast next year with kiki, his childhood best friend who he likes more than he realizes.

matteo moved from florence to kola 4 years ago when his parents were involved in a mysterious shooting involved with the mafia. after that, ( something he still doesn’t have the full details on ) he moved with his cousins in verona, except his parents didn’t tell him about their involvement before they died and with them dying so suddenly, he was blindsided. he started to notice something was wrong when at the funeral when he didn’t recognize half the faces in the room. but after a couple weeks of living with his aunt, he started to get a funny feeling when he was walking home from school, like someone was watching him. eventually, the paranoia started to settle in and he brought it up to his aunt and THAT’S when he got shipped off to kola to live with his other aunt. it felt a lot like running away and with how quick it happened, it definitely chucked him through a loop.
it wasn’t until he was 17 that he learned that his aunt wasn’t really his aunt, and that it was through mafia connections that the people who murdered his parents weren’t able to track him down. he’s laying low in kola, but has always stuck with the dream that he’ll get to go back home to florence.

Biting into the lime, Natasha put the shot glass back on the counter, her face twisting slightly at the taste. “I am never doing shots of tequila with you again!” She joked, slight grin on her lips as she counted the glasses on the counter. “How many was that anyway? Like three, or four? Fuck, I know it’s my birthday but I want to remember what happens tonight.” She giggled, but honestly, if she didn’t have all her memories, she wouldn’t mind. She actually believed a night without all her memories meant it was a good night.

Since he ran away, Ethan had been on edge more often, leading him to more violent reactions. Surprisingly possible. It wasn’t a big surprise to find him picking a fight in a bar. Which lead to him getting thrown out quite violently by the bouncer - perhaps resisting wasn’t much of a good idea.
