IMAT chem notes, part 3
been inactive as i took a few days off to go camping & attend a friend's party. got some fresh air, cancelled it out with cigarette smoke, and now i'm back.
So...
Orientation week just ended and I literally have no friends. There is an odd number of girls in the class (and an even number of boys) so I feel so out of place all the time. Everyone else has a best friend or at least a group of friends that they can hang out with and I literally have none. When we have to pair up for any activity or sit in two rows no one wants to pair with me and I’m just so depressed because this is my last high school class and I really want a strong support system for A levels. I don’t know how I can get through the next two years without any close friends in my class. All my other friends are in a different class and they’ve made new friends too. I just feel so lonely.
Any empathy will be greatly appreciated
Hey! I’m so sorry to hear that, I honestly have felt that way a few times. Honestly it’s a horrible feeling to feel left out.
Not everyone will find their long-term friends in one week (i.e. your orientation week) - from experience, throughout high school, friendships and friendship groups change quite a bit, and some grow smaller and some grow bigger. If you be you, I think you’ll attract people that are similar to you. One way to make friends is to find a group of friends that are sitting together at recess/morning tea or lunch and bring your food over and ask if you can sit with them. You’ll get a feel if they’re your sort of people and either keep sitting with them at break or, if you wish, sit with a few groups of friends before deciding if you want to keep joining them.
If you see someone sitting by themselves, go up to them and introduce yourself and offer to sit with them and talk about their classes, teachers, hobbies, TV shows… etc. And talk about your classes and hobbies too. Tell a joke or a story if you wish.
Introduce yourself to the people you’re sitting next to in each of your classes. Introduce yourself to the people who have lockers near you (if applicable). If you have time, join a club and meet new friends through there. Don’t worry about other people being close to each other, you will grow close to someone/s in good time.
I met one of my high school best friends from happening to sit next to her in chemistry and we started talking and sitting together at recess and lunch. It also helped me find friends by having lockers near them, sitting with new groups at lunch or studying with them during ‘free’ study periods.
I just finished first year university and I felt the same at the beginning, but I met my best friend by happening to be in the same tutorial class as him and also by chance being placed as a pair on a placement. And by beginning to chat and opening up to him when I was having a hard time at the beginning of semester 2, halfway through the year we grew closer and next year we’ll probably grow even closer as besties. He was a great support for me when the semester started to get stressful with the workload and exams etc.
Make the effort to introduce yourself to people and make friends. Not everyone will be your type of person to be friends with, but some will be. Importantly, just be you and people will like you for who you are. :)
Let us all know how it goes in the end and good luck with school, making new friends and A-levels! :)

Hello studyblr community! Posting my newly made notes about the 9 types of Intelligence! (see photo)
I know most of us feel that we are not smart enough, specially those who are still in school. But in reality, YOU ARE SMARTER THAN WHAT YOU THINK! We all possess these types of intelligence, meaning we have it ALL within us. However, it vary to a certain degree from person to person. For example, i am more of an Intra-personal and Spatial intelligent type. I’m good at understanding myself and picturing things out in my mind. But i’m also into Musical and a bit of Logical & Mathematical. What I’ve mentioned are the types that dominates in me. And by knowing what type of intelligence you possess, it can help you to effectively study. 😊 I actually had fun making these notes since it’s been a long time since the last. I miss you all A LOT! And i know that things are getting out of hands lately, be it in health, politics, relationships, etc. But i wanted you all to know that WE HAVE EACH OTHER’S BACK. So i am praying for everyone’s safety and health! And don’t forget to hydrate yourself studynerds! 🤓❤️

Many assignments to finish and not enough time to do so 😔 This semester finishes this month and I still have so many things to do, but that way I'm more productive tbh 💪🏻

i got an anatomy colouring book for christmas and it’s really helpful as a med student! definitely helps me learn things without zoning out at least. i’ll admit that sometimes i don’t have the attention span for some of the more complex pages but otherwise it’s been really helpful for me.
Easter break has arrived!
Uni has worked me very hard this week, but the highlight was definitely being introduced to organometallics. These are some notes on bonding models of pi-acceptor ligands!
Coming up next week: revision for summer exams begins! My aim is to beat my Christmas exam marks - let’s do this!

hi beautiful human beans:) I thought I might try this challenge and get to know some of you! I’m a couple days late but better late than never right?!
Day 1- Introduce yourself! What’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? Also! What are you studying? (If you’re in college, what’s your major? which semester are you in?)
My name is Emalii, and I am a second semester freshman in college studying Cell and Molecular Biology. I also have a minor in music. If I was to describe my persona it would include...
Sunset walks
Spotify playlists
Coffee house vibes
Candles and tea
And taking a good book up to a tree house
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I chose CMB as my major because i love learning, and I wanted to pursue a career that would always stimulate my mind. I also wanted to do something that could have a direct affect on the quality of people’s lives, so I want to go into research and become a professor.
Day 3- Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
I am actually brand new to the studyblr community so no. I hope to meet some people and interact with this cool community as well as force myself to post on a regular basis because knowing myself I will psych myself out about anything.
When studying gets a little bit too much, sometimes all we need to do is step back, take a deep breath, and have faith that everything will go well.

This is the other subject that I have in English this term: Bioreactors. It is really interesting but I'm the only student that is taking it 🙃 And btw, I passed all my subjects from the previous term 🎉
