“The neglect or omission of expected or required action”
...Failure. this is one of the definitions of which google gave me. some of my thoughts on the topic are as follows:
Failure is usually always associated with the negative and of being a bad thing to have in your life or to have done. I find that it by it’s self is definitely a negative thing, but the opposite, success, would only exist with failure.
Figuratively speaking the world is binary; day night, hot cold, happiness sadness, failure success. I find that one aspect where i can appreciate the concept of failure highly is not so much in the “doing of” (because that’s ridiculous), but more in the “fear of failing”. What I mean by this is that is that when a job is tasked to you ie showing up to work, doing something for someone, uni work, etc. then the fear of failure will keep you from not completing this at someone else’s expense.
I’m not saying that i live in fear of everyone and their business just that a small amount of this mentality is surely present in everyone.
Another way that I appreciate failure and hold it in the same regard as success is when it is used as a instructor or mentor. This concept is probably one of the more obvious ones to grasp and that everyone knows about. “Life is about learning from your mistakes”. Simply put: you make a mistake doing a task, You know not to do it that way again, You do the task a different way. you succeed #winning!
I find that this mentality and concept is encapsulated in a quote by Thomas Edison. When asked about the creation of his new invention, the light bulb, and all of his “failed prototypes” he responded with “I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” With that quote I find it solidifies how failure does not have to be a negative concept, but only a transient state that you travel through to greater success. I say this because that quote is so uplifting and inspirational to anyone taking on a project that the solution is just around the corner...even if you have to go round 10,000 corners (obvious hyperbole is obvious).
Sure failure is never something that you wish apon anyone, nor is it something that you want to redily experiencce in your life, but you cannot escape it. it is a part of life, so with the right mentality you can view it as, like i said before, “a transient state that you travel through to greater success.”
Done.
