He doesn't have a first name. Or if he does, it's heavily redacted to the point where even Dr. Holmes doesn't know. It makes him one of the most incognito scientist in the world. perfect for a place like the Foundation.
Acc knew Dr. Holmes before the Foundation. they were working together on smth b/c he was her advisor.
His hair is white. The only person to do so—he earned the name of gramps b/c of it. He's quite proud of it—keeps the 'World's #1 Grandpa' mug at his desk after the interns got it for him.
His research is in astrophysics and topology—he's the only person who can present his work in a coherent sense. His notes are a different story however. It became a tradition that the new cryptologists in the Foundation need to crack his journal as their first assignment.
he talks to their scientific equipment, giving them that scientific word of affirmation. it's a 180 from dr. holmes' apathy toward them. it's a rumor that there's no equipment malfunction when he works.
chalkboard >>> whiteboard. has his specific brand, and if it gets discontinued, he's effed.
she hates being told what to do. Period. She’s rejected several proposals from O5 b/c they weren’t interesting to her at the time. They learned that they should just give several assignments and let her pick b/c the solutions she comes up with acc do work.
she’s also considered an anomaly due to the memetic effect. it occurred her memetic vaccinations as a side effect and now no one can look at her face w/o a headache. only dr. clef can look at it.
after receiving her degrees, she practically lives at the foundation sites, depending on where she’s stationed. she needs constant vit. D cause she never goes out
her lab notes are incoherent. her explanations are often incoherent. O5 wonders how any of containment practices work, but they do. gears hates her b/c of this
she’s quite fond of her researchers. the only way anyone can join her team is if she likes them enough to take them on. you try anything against her researchers? you’re absolutely dead
she hates whiteboards. she’s a chalkboard girl through and through. something about the smell of markers. she’d take the harmful powder of chalk any day.
one of the more docile patients of Dr. Glass. she goes to her appointments without fail or any threats. Glass is both perturbed and grateful for that. she’s a great patient unlike a certain immortal scientist
until a part of a site blew up b/c she created an ultimate molotov cocktail with dr. iceberg. there’s quite a bit of impulsive behavior there
working at the SCP foundation would be funny i think
“Jim is such a dic-
..Oh uh hey Jim. We can’t tell you what we were talking about. You’re not a Level 5. If we told you you’d have to have an Amnestic ….Redacted stuff yknow…”
junior researchers holed up together almost always ends up with a casualty, even Foundation researchers.
"There's nothing in my head," Morpheus groaned while partially melting into the chair. "I will now evolve into an amoeba."
"You mean devolve," Emily answered flatly. Spending twelve hours in the lab was nothing to her, but spending ten of them with Morpheus would bring even the seasoned researchers to their wit's end. "You literally did nothing for," she squinted at the analog clock, "three hours."
"Because there's nothing to do!" He tossed his arms up as if that could relieve some boredom. "It's not we're trying to whack 682's brain chemicals. Why was I assigned here anyways?"
Good question, Emily wanted to know the answer as well. Why were two senior researchers working on the same problem? No junior researchers were assigned, or any interns. Actually, what was the objective?
"You didn't think about that."
At the 'are-you-stupid' tone, Emily broke three lab rules in one go. Taking the very thick folder, she proceeded to hurl their instructions and resources at Morpheus' face before breaking five equipments in the process. "Shut up."
"Jesus," Morpheus drawled as his nose dripped blood. "You should try out for the site baseball team. I think you broke my nose."
His nonchalant attitude irked her again, but her flare of anger subsided. His bloody nose was enough proof that she wasn't complacent. Also, it got rid of the need to go to a rage room. This was great. "Women have softball."
"That's still segregated?" The other researcher scoffed before dabbing at his nose with a tissue. "Okay, not broken, so I don't have to go to Medical. But that's going to hurt like a bitch—" he trailed off as the door opened.
"Trial was concluded," Smith called as Dr. Holmes stepped into the room. "Impressive aim, Em."
"What?" Emily and Morpheus glanced at their boss. "Trial—did you experiment on us? With what?"
"It works quite well," Holmes commented before glancing at the broken equipment. "See if we can get reimbursed for our equipment from Amnestics, since we gave them subjects. I quite like this brand of tubes."
"Dr. Holmes—did you volunteer us like lab rats?" Emily pieced it together. "You were trying to test for amnestic effects on higher intelligent subjects?"
"Why us?" Morpheus muttered, coming to the same conclusion.
"Not higher intelligence," she answered, inclining her head. "Subjects who merely have better access to information, or subjects who aren't constantly subjected to miscommunication by the Foundation."
"She just called us dumb."
"You're the one who threw something like a monkey."
Another shriek sounded from the room as Morpheus actually broke his nose that day.
Holmes wants to return them. but they’re nonrefundable. literally. the Foundation said no b/c they cause trouble in every other department & no one wanted them. some SCPs don’t want to interact with them.
her senior researchers are Emily, Morpheus, and Smith. all three are absolute geniuses in their own right. will they set back their projects months b/c they broke an important test tube or forgot to close the fume hood? YES
they all have brightly dyed hair. that is how other researchers know to steer clear of them. it’s like nature where brighter the colors are the more dangerous sort. except they are.
there are 6 junior researchers, who have a tendency to blow things up. they have their own lab, needless to say. they also room together in one house b/c the economy sucks & most of them spend their days in the lab, so hey 1/6 the rent!
they also have two interns, who are the bbys of the team. they’re the little adorable puppies that you see who give serotonin boosts, who instead bring triple shot espressos to help the other researchers. they’re also made of steel b/c these are the researchers sent for cases like keter and thaumiel categories for “experience.”
they’re so so so loud. there are so many emotions packed into one team that they need the extra soundproofed conference room to stop bothering the other teams. that’s an extra budget just for them. Bright also taught one of them how to build his chainsaw cannon which went as well as one expects.
in short, they’re there b/c they’re too smart to be let loose, but they’re not experienced enough to lead on their own. Holmes handles that aspect, which is why she’s one of the highest paid researchers within the Foundation.
Education: 3 Doctorates in Mathematics (Topology), Chemistry, Behavioral Psychology, Masters in Applied Physics
Backstory: Recruited into the Foundation at age [Redacted] for her theoretical paper on technological [Redacted], the Foundation made use of her engineering and theoretical skills for the Manufacturing Department until she showed skills in crafting containment protocols, starting from SCP-[Redacted]. She was granted access to transfer to the Scientific Department—Containment Specialty. She finished her education at [Redacted] at the age of 28. Shortly after the transfer, there was an adverse reaction to the [Redacted], causing her body to gain memetic properties. She is still currently working on projects handed by the Overseer Council.
Additional Information: She works well with other researchers. However, Dr. Bright and Dr. Clef should only be working together at the behest of the O5 Council—funds were misused and half of Site-[Redacted] was destroyed.
