Sapphire couldn’t believe what she was hearing, of course he’d try to imply that she would find him attractive but she gave a playful gag, tongue sticking out. “Ew, as if.” she began with a soft and friendly laugh. “No crime, indeed.” she began and then played with the flowers in her hands and smiled to herself, feeling the love. Sapphire was always one for gifts, she adored receiving them no matter the quality. It just proved someone was out there thinking about her, she loved the idea. “Yeah, I do put up with a lot when it comes to you.” she snorted, rolling her eyes. “Jude, this is the best.”

Valentina quickly made her way into the kitchen, and she was shocked to see a girl holding up a knife, looking like she was almost scared of her. But this was Val’s house; none of this made sense. “What’re you doing in my house?” she asked quickly, dropping her bag and trying not to look threatening.

“There was a g-guy.” Sapphire insisted, her eyes rounded with fear and her once icy glare softened to a tearful ocean. She had no clue what else to say: that he had gone for her neck and had this crazy glint in his eye? That she let herself in and was ready to stab anything that moved near her? The woman thankfully didn’t look as threatening but the blonde didn’t let go of the knife. “He was cannibalistic, I think...”

“nothing is normal in this city,” aaron stated, cryptically. “there’s no need to report it to the police if i know who’s done it. besides, some of those guns are mine. but don’t you worry your pretty little head. i have a license.” it was technically true. but all of the guns were his and despite having a license, carrying that amount of firearms would look worryingly suspicious. but he was a hunter, after all.

“so there is someone specifically singling you out, i could look into this, aaron, i could make this my debut case – well, it’s not much if you know who’s behind it but if i could find out why, what his intentions are and his reasonings then maybe i could make some sense of it all.” she began to ramble, her face lighting up with the numerous possibilities. “i know, i know,” she agreed blatantly with the compliment and statement. “i almost find it comforting to have a gun around however that many... i don’t know, just be careful.”

        groan ESCAPED his lips, hand swiping the phone from the woman’s TREMBLING ones. ‘ hello ? it’s detective cartwright. this lady has been GOING ON ABOUT death & decay for the past half an hour & won’t stop. i think she may be DELUSIONAL. ’ he spoke for a few seconds with the OFFICER on the other end before cancelling the call, tossing the phone BACK to the female. ‘ are you insane ? i killed a VAMPIRE, you should be thanking me, if anything. ’ perhaps he was a little TOO honest at times, & often forgot that SOME humans didn’t know of the existence of SUPERNATURALS. but, he had never been one to address issues softly & SURE AS HELL wasn’t going to change anytime soon. he wasn’t one for COMFORT or gentle hushes. KINDNESS, in his eyes, was deceiving, so therefore he wouldn’t stop being honest. ‘ you shouldn’t be OUT HERE this late. ’

her eyes widened as the other revealed himself to be a man of authority and she immediately assumed that he was the one who was insane. he had to be in order to have just killed someone without a second thought. she was silent, jaw dropped as she stared at the other in shock and confusion. “a vampire– wha– you’re insane!” she said, shaking her head, hands cupping her cheeks. “you’re not serious?” her tone held something that gave away her true thoughts, the fact that maybe it was possible, anything seemed to be in this particular town. she was even beginning to debate whether the animal attacks were just these bloodsucking creatures. “i was just walking home from work, i have e-every right to be here at this time.” neatly plucked brows lower and challenge the other though her voice wavers. “what you said... on the phone... is that true? that you’re some kind of detective? does that mean... that maybe you’re looking into these beings existing?”

“Relax, I’m just kidding.” Sapphire smiled, genuinely this time. She made a mental note to wash her hands immediately after the encounter, but perhaps it wasn’t so bad hanging out with Jason. “Where’d you get it, don’t tell me you’re just using this poor clueless thing as a decoy for girls?!”

“Right, on the couch.” He nodded as his lips pursed into a frown. How did she expect him to look out for her from the couch. Although he wasn’t about to try and argue with her about that. He sighed as he gently took hold of her wrist and guided back to her bedroom. He peeked outside the windows to make sure the coast was clear. Mainly to show her that she could trust him. Besides, if anything somehow got inside, there was no chance the creature would survive. Ryan supposed being a light sleeper came in handy. “Are you ready for bed?” He asked as he shrugged off his jacket. “Leave your bedroom door open, alright?” He made an attempt at a gentle smile but it just make him look, and feel, awkward. HIs lips then pursed into a frown as he retrieved the blankets before turning on his heel as he returned back the the living room. Once he set his jacket down he removed his shoes, belt and jeans. She really should not expect him so sleep in his clothing. Hell, she should be grateful he’s keeping his shirt on. “I sleep in my underwear, by the way.” He spoke loud enough for her to hear as he sat himself down on the couch. This would be a long, uncomfortable night.

following him to her room was quite the challenge considering she was terrified of what might be lurking behind closed doors even though she had been sure she locked the windows and all doors to the outside at least three times. plus she lived in an apartment block funded by the university, there were bound to be cameras and men on call – so why did she call ryan? the question lingered on her mind but before she knew it they were at the wardrobe. composing herself, she swallowed back the fear she now found pathetic and pushed ahead of him, gathering them in her slender arms. she followed him back to the living room just in time to hear his confession and hid behind the blankets when she found herself blushing. “right, i’ll keep that in mind.” she said, biting her lower lip. after passing him the blankets she brushed off her nightwear and headed back to her room. she was uncharacteristically silent, confused by the warmth she felt just knowing he was here – that he had answered her. at the very most she expected him to maybe talk to her through the phone or not even pick up, yet here he was willing to stay on her couch to make her feel safe. a smile dwindled on pink lips and she peeked from the bedroom, down the short hallway to where he had made himself comfortable before walking back. “i think i’ll watch a bit of tv,” she announced, sounding disinterested and keeping her attention on the screen.

“I’ve checked everywhere three times already. Nothing is outside.” Ryan sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. He couldn’t blame her for being in a state distress after what happened all those nights ago. He was partly to blame for that. Hell she almost hit him with a bat when he arrived. He couldn’t help but feel bad over the phone when she called him nearly in tears. Paranoia igniting fear inside of her. He was trying his best to be nice, comforting even. “Nothing is going to hurt you. I promise.” He reached out and gently placed his hands on her shoulders to try and steady her shaky frame. “Do you –” He paused mid sentence. He never really acted this way around anyone. “Do you want me to stay?” He asked quietly. He wanted to protect her even if there was no immediate danger.

it had been HARD getting used to life in NEW ORLEANS, not only was it much more busy than her QUAINT home in britain, but it was STRANGER. and she wasn’t talking JELLY in sandwiches weird, NO, the place was THRIVING with strange activity and she had been THRUST into it all at once. it was TERRIBLE adjusting, she just couldn’t quite get her head around things and while the MASQUERADE BALL had distracted her enough, sapphire didn’t feel settled in and around her house. she hadn’t left for DAYS, only venturing out in the COMPANY of her brothers. why she called ryan she had no clue, the two had text maybe once or twice before ONE of them would stop replying whether they realised it was FUTILE or they got pissed off at the hostility. STRANGE NOISES, she’d heard them thrice this night and her fingers text ryan SHAKILY. he’d arrived PROMPTLY, strange enough – though it was anything but ALARMING for she was happy to see his face ( and to not have pulverised it with the bat she had bought for self defence ). “ARE YOU SURE?” she asked, brows lowered over a fearful glassy stare. her grip LOOSENED on the bat and she ushered him inside, closing and LOCKING the door. “yes.” she gave in, shaking her head. she wouldn’t be able to SLEEP alone. “stay, on the COUCH.” she instructed, hurrying toward her room before she heard a rattle at her window – a TREE BRANCH but how was she supposed to know? yelping like a child afraid of THUNDER, sapphire jumped behind the other and groaned in embarrassment. “the spare blankets are in my WARDROBE.”

‘’i didn’t know that being ME is such a bad thing.’’ the hybrid jokes, a taunting look over his features as he sniffed the flowers– letting the scent hit his nostrils. jude TURNS to her, discreetly picking up a flower. ‘’saph, i thought you LIKED ME.’’ his tone is mock hurt– along with the look on his face, slowly handing her the flower. ‘’just thought i’d give you T H I S.’’

brows lowered above a lazy yet icy glare. “IT IS,” she said matter of factly, brushing some earth off the counter with quick swipes of her hands before picking up a we wipe. she scoffs, rolling her eyes and turning away to TOSS the dirtied wipe into the trash before turning back, EYES WIDEN at the sight. “define like.” she frowned, but couldn’t help the smile that came straight after as she cautiously took the flower. despite having any plant at her finger tips the SOLE fact it came from jude had made her day. “for me? W H Y?”

sapphire adjusted the flower display that she had prepared this morning when the bell chimed, signalling that someone entered the store. she smiled to the customer without lifting her eyes and stepped back to check out her creation. picking up a small watering can, she finished tending to the plants before walking to the counter. “hi, do you need any– UGH, it’s you.” she rolled her eyes, noticing jude among the flowers and scoffed. still, if robin’s mother ( her boss ) caught sight of her treating a customer wrongly, even if it was someone as annoying as jude, she would be reprimanded. so replacing her grimace, sapphire forced a grin. “can i help... or something?”

“i can see that. it’s quite the change. but i like it. you look good.” kingsley smiled, glad to see his brother happy. maybe it was still a little strange to see his older sister transform like that and become even more manly than himself, but it made them happy and that’s all he cared about. it’s still the same person to him, just a different gender. “well, i’m old enough to decide for myself now so i just told them the truth. i missed you guys and i didn’t feel like staying there on my own anymore so here i am. no idea how i would’ve found you if this moment didn’t happen but i’d find a way. even if i had to ask every single person in this town.” chuckling, them two were the biggest reason he was here, but there was something else. something he had no idea how to explain to his siblings, or to anyone for that matter. he got pulled back to reality when he heard sapphire’s voice, her tone clearly annoyed. it still seemed to be the same as when he last saw them. maybe she was still struggling with dawson’s tranformation or she just wanted people to talk to her instead of him. as she walked down he store, kingsley raised his brow, sighing softly. “mother and father are good. you know, just normal. like they’ve always been. it’s just been kind of quiet. of course they miss you, they’re still your parents, you guys moving away doesn’t change that. even if they won’t admit it, i can see it whenever i mention you two.” he smiled when sapphire joined them again. “i’m just shocked that you turned into such a beautiful woman. it really has been too long since i saw you guys. i’m so not leaving now. i tink i literally packed my entire closet.”

the brothers always shared the same toothy grin, now spread on BOTH faces. dawson rolled up the sleeves of his sweater and admired the prominent veins on his wrists. he enjoyed the slight bulge of his biceps and darker hair sprouting. apart from the physical changes, his happiness blossomed from his brother, who RESPECTED his choice. just as he opened his mouth to continue, sapphire SHOVED herself into the spotlight again. the eldest sibling stepped back and SHOVED his hands into his pockets, allowing her to express her excitement. if only she had reacted the same way ━━━ instead of DEGRADING his appearance, his whole being. if dawson had SHOVED his feelings into the back of his mind, far away in the dark, then perhaps sapphire would have been so thrilled. “we would have found you somehow.” he mumbled, still absorbed in loathsome thoughts and better possibilities. “do you have a new cell number ━━━ now that you’re in a new country ? ”  his heart DROPPED into his stomach at the mention of their parents. anything, discuss anything but our parents ! he let unspoken words fade into those DARK corners of his brain. a part of him wanted to ask ━━━ how did they feel about HIM ? did they even mention him at the dinner table ? or had his existence been erased in conversation, complete with torn family photos ? walking alongside his brother down the baked goods aisle, and watching his sister snatch every pack of cookies, he forced the grin again, after sinking with his sadness. “i’d ask to borrow some of your clothes, but you’re still taller than me. some things just don’t change.” upon hearing his sister, and then seeing her with multiple boxes in each hand, he forked over the money. as always ( as with his sister ) a SIGH accompanied his actions,

she smiled smugly as though proud of pointing out the change in her second brother. the two of them together, however with dawson BLENDING in more, sickened her. she was reminded of the countless times the two sided with action men over barbie dolls. EVEN KINGSLEY sometimes played more with her dolls than dawson would ever try. hence why she preferred the middle sibling. YOUNGEST CONNOR strode ahead, heels clicking on the linoleum floor of the store, listening to kingsley speak of their parents – she missed them DEARLY and knew she would have to go back in a month or so. “yeah, pass me your cell, kings, i’ll totally add my number.” sapphire informed, her fingers grasping a basket to put her favourite treats in alongside dawson’s granola bars. “ – anything YOU want, kings?” she asked, walking just ahead of the duo, separated like usual. “dawson’s treat. AND since you are finally here, you can come over for dinner. oh DAWSON put a smile on your face, kingsley is here.” she reprimanded the oldest, sending him a quick glare. during family events ( in which dawson was struggling with his transformation and relationships with said people ) she had ALWAYS been the one to scold him ( HER, at the time ) in order to keep the family image positive. “thank you, kings. i was waiting for someone to notice.” she sent a sideways glance at dawson, not exactly accusing him but definitely making it SEEM that way.

Valentina had been attending some family business in Lafayette for a few days, leaving Melissa in charge of the diner and Max to tend to her house; it was nice to be out of the city for a few days, but she never realized how much she missed being home until she returned. Walking into her giant house she dropped her bags and looked around, taking note of the quite before there was a noise– a bang almost. Eyes widening, she whipped to look towards the kitchen. “Who’s there?!” she called, heading that way.

it was unusual for sapphire to force her way into a stranger’s house so late at night, risking seeming like a burglar, but she had no time to think of that when she pulled down the handle with such force she thought she broke it. instead it just seemed like the door had been forgotten and thank the lords that it had – she was safe. the person, thing, bloodsucker, couldn’t get in. she thought that if she at least looked like she was home safe he would leave her alone but the knocks on the door kept her on edge. she backed herself into the kitchen, grabbing a knife just in case the crazed man managed to get in. sinking to the ground, it felt like hours before the incessant attempts to get in stopped and she was lost in traumatised thought, when suddenly a voice called out someone had gotten in. she gripped the knife tighter and held her breath.

       time grew STILL as his gaze narrowed in on the HUMAN. he had been so fearless about EVERYTHING lately that he thought everybody was the same. he learned about IMMORTALS at such a young age; he assumed everybody else was the SAME. but looking at the naive innocence in her eyes, he didn’t REALISE until then that people were oblivious to the EVIL that lurked in every corner. evil which had TOOK his family from him. evil that he had spent years trying to RID the world of. on his own, of course. he didn’t want the UNNECESSARY help of other hunters. that would save for WORK. ❝ miss, are you alright ? ❞ to dispose of the CORPSE, he lit a match & tossed it on the body.

her fingers quickly dialled the emergency line, hoping for them to pick up before she found herself dead at the hands of this psychotic stranger. sheltered, she wasn’t entirely sure what else to do. by the time the dial rang twice, the body was up in flames forcing another yelp from the girl as reds and oranges danced in her pupils. “ – am i alright?” she asked with a scoff, lifting the phone to her ears. “a murder, i just witnessed a m-murder.” her voice was shaking and she had to turn her head away from the scene. “no – i saw the body: but it’s gone now, yes, gone.” she was desperate for them to believe her but with the scene being so ridiculous she swore she heard snorting on the other end. glancing over her shoulder, afraid to turn her back on the danger, sapphire’s blue eyes turned watery. “i know how this must sound – i feel like i’m going bloody crazy but you must believe me – this man in front of me just killed somebody!” it didn’t look like the officer on the other end was going to hold out any longer so perhaps she had to take it in her own hands, her heart skipping several beats and her legs feeling like they were about to give out.

running his hand across his face, kingsley was happy to have found a place to stay thanks to all the friendly strangers in this town. he had been trying to reach his siblings but maybe their numbers changed as it didn’t seem to work. he felt a little guilty for not having seen them for about five or six years as he had decided to stay in england, eventhough there had been some drama about dawn’s transformation but he didn’t see anything wrong with her turning into dawson, as long as they were happy. heading out of his room, he walked around until he found a store, deciding he needed a few things. as he exited the shop, looking in his bag to see if everything was in there, he bumped into someone, making him stumble back. “oh shit, sorry. i should’ve looked where i was going.” he sighed, looking up at the guy. something seemed familiar about him but he couldn’t put his finger on it. glancing to the right, he noticed another presence, someone he did recognize as she was still the same, just a little bigger and more grown up. “sapphire? i’ve been trying to reach you but nothing. lucky me for running into you like this.” bending down a little, he embraced his younger sister in a hug. “wait a minute…” pulling away from her, he stared at the guy again, his eyes widening. “dawson? holy hell, you’ve changed. damn.”

“no, deadpool is not part of the avengers. in fact, he KILLED all of them. the comic is literally called ‘deadpool kills the marvel universe, parts one and two.’” dawson sighed and opened the door, letting his younger sister enter the store first. the breeze swept the door shut and rustled the chimes over their heads. he let sapphire go find those double chocolate chip cookies she craved, as if she wasn’t already eager to leave his side. meanwhile, he dug through his messenger bag and pulled out a tattered piece of lined paper. unfolded, most of the items were crossed out with sharpie, yet a few remained starred and circled. “how could i have forgotten about GRANOLA BARS ? ” nights at the station became increasingly busy, so only the veteran sheriffs and chief were allowed those shifts, meaning dawson worked during the day. he often overslept and ran out the door without breakfast and later chided his grumbling stomach. there just wasn’t time to sit down with a plate of eggs. dawson walked down the first aisle, scanning the crowded shelves for what he wanted, and ended up behind sapphire and … someone else. catching them mid-embrace, dawson stepped forward to get a look at his face. big, light eyes so similar to the boy in front of him widened, but then relaxed and closed with a wave of comfort and relief. a small chuckle accompanied a glance over at himself, his new hair and new body. “y-yeah, i’ve almost fully transitioned, but enough about me.oh my GOD, i can’t believe you’re HERE kings! mum and dad must’ve finally let you visit, huh ? c’mere, i’ve missed you so bloody much - “

her gasp was heard long before the warm voice of her ( only ) brother. the embrace sharing warmth. she grabbed kingsley tightly, laughing out of pure shock that he was here with them. it had been so long and while she was beginning to feel HOMESICK the sight of him helped. “KINGSLEY!!” she all but squealed, continuing to hold her brother only to have him pull away a moment later – of course dawson would get the attention because of his CHANGE. “–yeah, quite the SHOCKER, right?” she added, her voice giving away her annoyance. her interest in the cookies grew even more and she was tempted to leave the boys alone, considering they would probably ACT like they were anyway. “how’s mother and daddy? do they MISS me?” sapphire asked, her voice a tad HIGHER than usual, trying to have her say over the voices of her brothers. she sighed, retreating a little but keeping the bright smile on her face while looking around the store, AVERTING her gaze away from the duo to look for said granola bars and her favourite cookies. she left the two alone in order to seek them out, snatching up a couple of bars and a snagging a deal on the chocolate chip treats before heading back to the two. “dawson, you brought the money, right?” HE provided the money while SHE provided the transport. it was a fair deal since she would have asked for money toward fuel.

sapphire shook her head as she heard the other girl and looked up from her law textbook. “well, that needs to stop considering it can stain your teeth and since you are one of my friends with the most beautiful smile i’m going to be a good friend and–” the law student smiled before she reached over and swiped the coffee away.
