Gilbert Baker, designer of the Pride Flag, has passed away today at 65 years of age
Recently honored in the ABC series âWhen We Riseâ, the openly gay artist is remembered for designing the unifying symbol of the LGBT community and movement.Â
The rainbow flag was first designed and handmade in 1978. A rainbow was used to reflect the fact that LGBT people are of natural beauty. The first flag was flown on June 25, 1978 at San Francisco Pride, with 8 colors. Each had its own meaning: hot pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic/art, blue for harmony, and violet for the spirit. Following the assassination of influential leader Harvey Milk, the flag was in high demand and was revised to retain efficiency. Nowadays, the flag is shown as having 6 evens colors, having dropped hot pink and turquoise.Â
(Original flag design, 1978)
Now we must remember Mr. Baker as designing the seminal symbol for our people. Gone are the days of the pink triangleâwe define ourselves. Thank you for giving us this beautiful symbol. The Pride Flag is something that has given us the image for our pride and community. There is nothing I would rather assign myself to more than the rainbow. We will always remember you.

HAPPY BRITTANAVERSARY EVERYBODY
The boy who played Danny in âThe Shiningâ had no idea he was filming for a horror movie. From Cracked:Â
Lloyd just thought they were making a movie about a family in a hotel. He wasnât even really sure how much he was getting paid to be there. He was only ever shown severely edited footage that took out all the scary parts, which essentially means he thought he was filming the most boring snoozefest ever created, because without the iconic scenes of terror, The Shining is a movie about three people wandering around in cavernous, brooding silence.
Lloyd didnât see the actual uncut movie until many years later as a teenager, and suddenly everything clicked into place â those two nice British girls with whom he used to play and share lunch in between takes? They were ax-murdered ghosts who wanted his soul. That nice Jack Nicholson man who did a funny tomahawk dance when Lloyd accidentally wandered on set one day? Jack was slobberingly hacking his way through a bathroom door to murder Lloydâs onscreen mother only moments prior.
If this is true then this is how horror movies should be shot so not to traumatize children. If this is true then it just makes the shining a better movie.
Thatâs What She Said -Â A queer, Asian-American web series following the lives of 5 friends in Los Angeles. Created out of a desire to see positive Asian representations in the media, as well as to give voice to the often untold stories of queer Asian women, the series chronicles the lives of five fictional characters â Leslie, Rae, Shin, Baby, and Nic â within the queer sphere of the greater Los Angeles area.

Samuel L Jackson decided that red and green lightsabers were a stupidass decision. \o/
the stereotype that women talk more than men is infinitely amusing to me because men are literally incapable of shutting the fuck up
i hope this post gets popular enough that i hurt a manâs feelings
Itâs not a stereotype itâs a proven fact you femanazi piece of shit.
lmao there it isÂ
You wanna talk proven facts? This shitâs been done, son: researcher Dale Spencer in Australia used audio and video tape to independently evaluate who talked the most in mixed-gender university classroom discussions. Regardless of the gender ratio of the students, whether the instructor was deliberately trying to encourage female participation or not, men always talked moreâwhether the metric was minutes of talking or number of words spoken.Â
Moreover, men literally have no clue how much they talk. When Spencer asked students to evaluate their perception of who talked more in a given discussion, women were pretty accurate; but men perceived the discussion as being âequalâ when women talked only 15% of the time, and the discussion as being dominated by women if they talked only 30% of the time.
Spencerâs conclusion, if I may parahprase: you only think we talk too much because youâd rather we were silent.
Donât fuck with me, asshole, Iâm a scientist.
I keep forgetting to go into the other one...
