Week 22, 2016 - This week we went up to Yorkshire to visit Mike’s family and also to the wedding of some friends. I’ve been trying to use that yellow ‘choose happy’ card forever, I love the colour, it’s so cheerful! 

The pink tab on the title card pulls up to show a funny picture from our yorkshire visit which isn’t a very good photo (heavy flash and a bit pixelated) but which I still wanted to store.

Week 16, 2016. I got my first ever road bike this week (so much love for it!) so this spread is mostly about that, and also about an afternoon spent celebrating in the sunshine with some friends from my PGCE. I was inspired by watching Kelly Purkey videos in which she writes on photos around her coffee mug to try the same on my Pimms photo, journalling about the day. I was a little nervous about writing in Sharpie on a photo in case I made a mistake, but I really liked how it turned out. All of the cards are from the Heidi Swapp Dreamy core kit, and the diamond, hexagon, ‘memories’, ‘Tuesday’ and heart decorations are all cut straight from cards from that kit. I wasn’t sure about the pink & green colour combo, but I was overall really pleased with how it turned out :).

Smashbook Sunday!

A double sided spread about getting my lovely hamster, Minnie. She’s very well loved so I wanted to do her justice! Inside the envelope with the ‘love’ wood veneer is her documents from when we bought her.

Week 15, 2016. This week we went to visit some friends of ours and their adorable new puppy (seriously, one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen)! The bottom photo is Mike sulking after he was rejected by that horse, which I found hilarious. Cards here are from the Project Life: the Seasons edition, Heidi Swapp’s Dreamy kit, and the Kraft kit.

Week 14, 2016. As you can probably tell from the pictures, this was a fairly laid back, easy going week - it was the Easter holiday for me but Mike had to work, so I stayed at home mostly - the most exciting part being that the sun finally came out! I think I start to go a little mad in the winter, I live for summer and the warmer it gets here in the UK (clue: not very!) the cheerier I am!

I tried to ‘echo’ (not sure what the professional term for that is!) the embellishments across the spread here, using just simple tags and doilies but trying to have the spread across the page to make it look more balanced.

Smashbook Sunday!

This double sided spread was about moving house (to the house directly next door, how ridiculous is that!) and a date evening Mike and I had (we set up a picnic and movie in my back garden, student-style). Featuring my gorgeous new blue sparkly Heidi Swapp alphas... I’m in love!

Week 13, 2016. This spread was about the Easter weekend (hence the eggs!). We spent the weekend celebrating my dad’s birthday in Devon, which was lovely. As I had a lot of pictures I wanted to feature on this spread, I decided to just use some spring themed washi (from Tyger) to create a flip-up section. I was also able to write some notes on the back of the flip-up pictures, which was nice as added space for more journalling than I would’ve had otherwise. Apologies for the random piece of paper covering the top 6x4 card, it was a picture I didn’t feel was appropriate to share on my blog as I hadn’t asked permission to share :).

Smashbook Sunday!

A double sided spread about my 2014 University Summer Ball, one of the last chances to get dolled up and go out with  my friends from university before I graduated! I had saved a lot of bits and pieces - the ‘peppermint’ tag was from my gown, our tickets and the flyer from the ball itself, receipts from a meal we went on together and a few other odds and ends, so I decided that rather than having a big mess of stuff, I would conceal some of it under a flyer on the other side of the page.

Week 12 of 2016 was me celebrating the start of spring (the sooner winter ends, the better!) and also Mike and I’s third anniversary. I can’t believe it has been 3 whole years since our first date! The ‘Love this Dude’ and ‘xoxoxo’ ephemera are from Amy Tangerine’s ‘Better Together’ collection, which I am completely in love with!

Smashbook Sunday!

This is from my 2014 smashbook, our summer holiday that year was a week hiking in the Lake District with Mike, my parents and one of our close family friends. Lots of sore legs and guilty food, but it was a lovely holiday and I had a lot of fun smashing it. I managed to include a fair bit of journalling just fit into the natural design of the page, and also experimented with some new stamps I bought recently (which are actually from a Christmas set, not that you’d know seeing them here!).

Week 23 of 2015 Pt. 2 - my first time using a 4 pocket 12x12 design, which was fun, felt like traditional scrapbooking! A picture of me holding a snake and trying to look cool despite the fact that I was freaking out behind my sunglasses. The ten year olds I’m pictured with had far, far more chill than me!

I was given this picture as  part of a gift when I left my job as a Teaching Assistant, so I was keen to give it space within the album rather than having it shoved in amongst lots of other stuff in a spread. The paper here is actually Christmas paper from my Hey Little Magpie haul earlier in the year, but I thought it looked un-Christmassy enough that I could get away with it.

Week 11, 2016. I travelled to London to celebrate my sister’s 30th birthday, and had a tonne of fun in the process! The club we went to, Piano Works, was amazing - you can suggest any song and they’ll perform it live for you! Ephemera is from (I think!) last year’s Amy Tangerine Stitched collection. Part 1 of week 23 of 2015 :) I spent this week accompanying my pupils on a residential trip away, so this spread as well as the next couple in my 2015 album will be about this trip.

I love so much how that raincloud card came out. It’s paper from an Amy Tangerine collection, the stamp and the paperclip are both from Tyger. Wood veneers are (I think!) both from the Works.

Week 10, 2016 :). A spread about catching up with friends, my first ever (life-changing) spa day and a wedding we attended. I had quite a few photos I wanted to include in this spread, so I worked around it by adding the photos I had from the wedding, including the photobooth pics to the (really lovely!) wedding invite. I just punched a hole into the invite so that it can also go in my scrapbook folder when it eventually arrives. Because I had two quite glaringly orange bits of paraphernalia I wanted to feature in this spread, I decided to use a toned down blue only for the rest of the spread so it wouldn’t seem too aggressive, colour-wise! Also side-note but those white Amy Tan Thickers are bae, I’m in love!

Week 9 of 2016 is about a trip me and some friends took to Centerparks for the weekend. We had a lot of fun, played in the rapids and generally got to act like children for a weekend.

The ‘happiness is contagious’ piece is one I have wanted to use for ages, but just couldn’t seem to find the right spread, I decided to take a leap of faith though and I think it worked really well.

I had the camera firing all weekend, I think I shot more than 200 photos in 4 days, so using the pic frame app to print out a lot of tiny photos gave me a chance to display more of them than I could have otherwise.
