I need a strong opinion from you: Is making an incest OC okay because itās ājust a characterā? Somethingās happening between another person and I where they made an OC related to a canon character in a fandom. Theyāre brothers and the problem is that their OC has a crush on their brother. Many people have told them itās wrong and they kept shrugging saying itās ājust a characterā. Supporters of them also said it too that itās just a character. What is your opinion on it and your message to them?
Itās okay to make a character with a traumatic background based on incest, child sexual abuse or just abuse in general. But obviously (if itās something you donāt relate to) you have to know youāre doing so you wonāt offend people where like..you start sexualizing and/or glamorizing itā or turn it into comedy, thatās just common sense tbh and easy not to do lmao, itās just creepy people get off to that shit and thatās just disgusting. Because first of all, itās not ājust a characterā when you make a character with a traumatic background others can relate to them and thatās pretty much one of the ways how the character becomes so likable. Someone may kin them, someone may use them as a comfort character. You never really know how greatly that can affect someone, positive or negative. And second of all, even if itās ājust a characterā, how some people like to excuse their bigotryā know that the background youāre giving them is an actual thing that happens in real life so honestly it doesnāt matter if itās not a real person lmao. Like I said, know what youāre doing, donāt sexualize/glamorize the abuse, etc.
