I drew my fav scene from evil dead burn!!! This title sequence is genuinely the coolest I've ever seen. 1000000/10 movie. I'd go to every showing if I could. Absolutely worth watching.

It's funny how the novelization writes, "Ren caught Hayworth's eye" during their evacuation from Pensacola, and this line makes perfect sense if you know that they were originally in cahoots

I likely wouldn't have paid attention if I hadn't known about the original cut 🤷‍♀️

After GvK original cut details in 2022, I went to watch the filmography of the cut actors and I was surprised to see that Daniel Nelson (Hayworth's actor) is basically a stunt double. I was even more surprised when I realized that I had seen him a lot, and I didn't even know about it (he was in the background/extras). He also had an interview mostly about Mortal Combat, where he mentioned the GvK and how he got Hayworth's role (he didn't named character, but we already khow), and it's not available right now

I love discovering new, not so popular actors like that

Hayworth's "cameo" in the final cut is the funniest shit ever

Like wdym, it's the same character who is a basically major antagonist, whose story just got fully cut, and you still have him in your film, as 6s cameo, and explicitly named him is novellization 😭?

the camera work alone is reason that Evil Dead: Burn is a great movie also lots of other things but rn lets appreciate the camera man

I think it’s really cool that they used deadite jessica to tie rise and burn together and while she’s kind of the end point of the horror of rise, bc basically the entirety of rise is explaining how she became a deadite, she’s the starting point of the horror in this one.

Genuinely find it very interesting how Evil Dead Burn presented how much the family enabled Will's abuse.

I wish we had spent more time exploring the implied abuse or at least anger issues and favouritism that Edgar and Susan had on their family. Both of them are rude and abrasive to Alice. Edgar snaps at both Polly and Joe. They heap praises onto Will whilst cutting Joe aside. Polly is restrained in unfair positions.

A lot of Edgar's pre-deadite warning signs of increased aggression go unnoticed bc this behaviour (if not abuse, then aggression) is clearly normal. Alice points out that Susan knew that Will was abusive.

Susan enables her family's behaviour, right up until the end. She would kiss the corpse of her husband moments after he violently attacks their son because he promised that they were only hurting him because he needed something, and if Joe would just behave and give it to them then he would stop. And so she enables him, and she lets him in again, and she gets him killed.

Joe - presented as a least favourite child, and afraid of his brother and father's outbursts - is also an enabler. He didn't protect Alice from Will, and he left Thya when she needed him the most because that fear of his father enabled the cycle of abuse. Thya literally points out that he had an easier time fighting back against his wife than he did his father.

That is to say that Alice is paying the price for a cycle of aggression (from half the family) and enabling (from the other half).

It's an evil dead film so I don't expect a massive focus on backstory, but I wish we'd had more family context and less dagger context. The cycle of abuse was important to the story

Fandoms have a serious problem with how creators are being treated these days.

Fandom creators spend hours of their free time to create something to make fandom thrive...for free and for the love of the game.

And what do they get? A wholeass heap of fuck all. No reblogs, no comments, no nothing. And people are surprised that creators are dropping out left, right, and centre??

"Why is there no long fic anymore?" "Why did my favourite writer stop?" "Why is my favourite artist not posting anymore?"

I implore you to ask yourself: "What's the last thing I did to support my fandom? Does my favourite creator know they are my favourite? When was the last time I left a comment under something?"

He was one of the most important people in the film industry for me. I grew up watching the movies he starred in. Especially "Jurassic Park". And the fact that he's been in remission since April (if i remember correctly?)..oh
