idk my feelings about people who use ai to write fic are pretty straightforward but my feelings about people who consume that fic?
#do you not know or do you not care?#tell me because *i* kind of care about the answer to that question#i just find it really disheartening when ai generated fic gets so much more engagement#than a fic that someone sat down and spent time writing#like okay#one person fed a prompt they got from someone else to an ai that then spat out a fic that is basically#just long-distance plagiarism of fics that other people wrote because that's how ai learned to write that fic in the first place#and the person who fed an ai someone else's prompt is then showered with reblogs and comments#in a tumblrciety that is already grossly lacking in engagement with artist creations#meanwhile someone who's new to writing and just learning the craft?#seventeen likes and a reblog without tags#because that'll make them want to keep writing#cherry on top: someone using ai to write was told that ais use the prompts they're fed to learn#and the next person to feed it a similar prompt will then receive something that uses that first prompt#and THAT was what made that person go#oh wait#I don't want ai to use MY work so I'm going to stop using it#LIKE WHERE DO YOU THINK THE FIC IT WROTE FOR YOU CAME FROM????#monkeys with fucking typewriters?#taking a break from writing shakespeare?#i cannot#anyway my tongue is in shreds and I'm just tired of biting it#sorrynotsorry#felt bitchy might delete later
