They have arrived, they've been sent out, and boy are we excited! Although we are excited now that our wedding invitations are out, it wasn't very easy getting to this point. Well, let's just say that it was a bit of a struggle... To begin with, we knew that we wanted to design our invitations together. The problem, we soon found out, is that two graphic designers trying to design something that we both felt that we LOVED and wanted to continue to love until the day of our wedding and thereafter, well... hard to do. We got pretty anal about the small details, which was a good thing, but prolonged the process. We spent a total of about 3 months from design to completion. This three months was also spent being inspired by other designs we liked and finding ourselves adding a Wes Anderson-esque touch by adding a stamp designating what was included, and a small magnifying glasses in our envelopes to increase interest and interactivity in our invitations. One other thing we found very difficult, was not being able to invite everyone that we wanted. Although we are able to share in this joyous adventure with a lot of people, we found that numbers added up verrry quickly, and we weren't able to ask nearly the amount of people we wanted to. To put it in perspective, our original list was somewhere around 600-650 people. Sadly, we had to cut that back to about 150-200... A tough thing to do. Once we were almost set on the design, we searched and searched for a good company online that could affordably print our invitations, but could give us a good quality stock and print job. We ran into a lot of dead ends- especially cost wise. We knew that doing this ourselves would be pricy, but we weren't aware of how pricy it would be. We found a company online by the name of Sire Press, that specialized in different types of printing- offset and screen printing and decided to go with them. When we got our invitations, we were incredibly excited and ready for our guests to experience these awesome quality prints! Before we could send off the invitations, we of course had to have envelopes and stamps... and so we hit a few additional bumps (wow, pricy), but soon after were able to send off the last few months of our lives in sealed envelope form.
