ATTENTION FURBY BLOGS
I need your help! Please reblog this post with real (legitimate) reasons why it would be very smart for hasbro to do a 1998 furby reboot. A little disclaimer- if hasbro did listen to us, it is extremely unlikely that they would actually remake 1998s to the T. Best case scenario we get a reboot that looks very similar but still functions differently. But please, help me and some friends come up with reasons why it would be good for hasbro to do a reboot.
(I would appreciate it if your additions to this post were in bulleted list format, thank you!)
the furby fandom is in full swing currently!! demand for furbies is at an all time high and 1998 models are by far the most desired and sellable!
people who grew up with the 1998 generations now have jobs and money to invest in these furbies!!
2012s and connects simply havent done that well. even if they sold a lot in their first years they are too loud and obnoxious to appeal to parents buying toys for the children of today!
the limited color ranges of 2012s and connects are very disappointing and not appealing to children as well as the older collectors
1998s feel far more realistic than 2012s and connects! connects and booms are very very digital and therefore the entire βillusion of lifeβ that was a gigantic selling point of the first ever furbies is completely killed. 2012s and connects are electronic devices barely concealed by fur, while 1998s and even 2005s are far more realistic and appealing
the attempt to introduce slang (such as the n e v e r e n d i n g usage of the word βlikeβ) in 2012s and connects is painful and doesnt appeal to younger audiences as much as hasbro thought it would
the bluetooth thing with connects is really bad!!! yet again on the βmore electronic than animalβ point, it completely destroys the fantasy of furbies
2012s and connects work on predictable and ultimately irritating algorithms. 1998s, with their hidden easter eggs and far more complex programming, are much more appealing
2012s and connects are REALLY LOUD and therefore thrown out/never bought again all the time. ive never encountered a single person who had a 2012 as a kid that didnt have the 2012 thrown out by their parents. they may have sold once, but they were never bought again as parents discovered just how irritating they were. a HUGE part of 1998 furby culture during their release was the growth of a community of people with GIGANTIC collections. 2012s and connects are one time buys, while 1998s create RETURNING CUSTOMERS who will consistently buy these products, instead of giving them up after a year of irritation
What if we all sent this to hasbro? Maybe if enough of us did that they might listen?
-a new wave of furbys would be AMAZING for us furb collectors who have more IRL money than digital money
-that also goes for kids who get money and giftcards for Christmas and such!
-the newer onesβ¦ are very plastic and fake, theyβre fun and all just.. not what you think when you hear βFurbyβ
-new wave brings new fans!! Many new kids would probably love them! Especially if theyβre as lifelike as the 1998 ones were back then!
-we havenβt had new furbys since what? 2016? And as stated above, most of us like the 1998 and 2005βs more.
-itd be interesting to see what would be changed from the originals! Though obvi we donβt want it to be TOO different
-I almost never see a furby collector that has only booms and connects, maybe once or twice but itβs HIGHLY unlikely that people prefer them over 1998βs
-(personal opinion but iβd kill for a furby line thatβs a hybrid of 1998βs and 2005βs, or even just more realistic like the 1998βs)
-us in the community will LOVE and ADORE THEM
Iβve been reading through the notes, and Iβd really like to thank everyone that has gotten this post rolling, and I really appreciate your input!
Iβm wondering though, if there really is a way to get this to Hasbro? Iβve searched through the Hasbro websites and I canβt find any email address to reach them at. Would anyone with experience in this region mind doing some digging and seeing what they can find? It would really help us move forward and see if we can make a change.
Again- thank you so much to everyone that has added on to this thread! Your help is much appreciated. Letβs keep this going!
