People are so rude about going to watch the children in their lives do stuff shittily. “Ugh toddler dance recital,” “ugh tee-ball weekend again,” “ugh nativity play.”

give kids a break (and give yourself a break if you're just getting started at something new)

I've been teaching writing (and lots more) for decades, and one thing I've learned is that anyone who learns the tools and techniques - and puts in the effort to practice and improve their work - can end up not only writing well but even finding publication

same's true for pretty much everything in life, from making stuff to relationships

though some people get a head-start on stuff because of "innate talent" (whatever that is), no one who keeps learning and practicing is bad at anything for long

especially kids - they're at the age when they're not supposed to be good at anything yet, because their main job is figuring out how to human!

accepting this can be tough for those diagnosed with "Gifted" Syndrome in their youth, because everything is supposed to be easy for us, right?

so be kind to yourself - and especially be kind to kids
