@scrpentfamily
Jughead is back over here.
Cheryl;
“I joined for family, Jughead.” She finally admitted, sort of frowning, sort of smiling, caught between in the median. “I don’t have one. I haven’t since Jason died. I have nobody and after some recent.. events.. I need people I can trust, and who will have my back. That’s apart of being a Serpent. It’s one of the laws.” She said, a little softer than last. “And not to mention that I’ve been a snake from the moment I began to talk. I think this is exactly the right place for me to be.”
Her words did catch Jughead off guard, an eyebrow raising at them before letting out a small sigh. “Well, congratulations. I think you’re one of the few northsiders to actually see it as a family instead of just a group of THUGS.” Though, admittedly, Jughead had thought that himself for many years before he finally found it as a place where he wouldn’t be judged, a sort of home when his own was formerly one of chaos as well. “But, it’s a bit more than that and some of the rumours from the north are true. You should know that better than most.” His words weren’t a slight, a mere observation as to how both of their fathers had been involved in an actual murder. “So what happens when you’re asked to be part of that side and not just the family part? Can you follow through?”
So I should be able to get onto my Jughead blog on Monday or Tuesday so yay!
Cheryl;
“Are you going to scold me for joining again? Or lecture me about being a northsider in southside territory? Because I really don’t have the patience for either of them. I passed initiation. I have the tattoo, I have the jacket.”
@scrpentfamily
Out of all the people in Riverdale, Cheryl was probably the last person Jughead expected to join the Serpents. She didn’t come from the same background as the rest of them. Lacking money, some lacking family, nowhere else to turn to. Jughead still remembered when Betty had tried to join and he had turned her away. “I’m not going to scold you. Just still not sure if this is the right life for you. You’ve got a shot at good things. Most serpents? Probably never even getting out of the southside.”
@queenv liked for southside trash!jug
“So—— what exactly is your deal? Aren’t all northside princes and princess supposed to HATE the southside?” An eyebrow rose as the Lodge heiress, one of the few people to welcome their kind into Riverdale High. Most everyone else sought to be rid of them or beat them down be it metaphorically or literally.
Blossom;
Cheryl’s body grew rigid at the mention of her father and Jason. But, she wasn’t about to let some greaseball think he could get away with using her fathers disgusting actions as a reason for her entire family to be compared to the likes of a band of near homeless criminals and junkies. “My father has nothing to do with what the rest of the Blossom family are like. In fact, the last time I checked, he’s dead. As should anyone else involved in Jasons kidnapping and murder should be.”Or rotting in jail. She would never forgive Betty Cooper for blackmailing her into testifying on behalf of that overgrown monkey. “But, that’s entirely besides the point. None of you crime breathing animals should be alloowed within the pristine walls of Riverdale High. Soon enough we’re going to have to start locking up the valuables.”
“Really? So none of the rest of the Blossoms are like that?” An eyebrow rose before a small snicker escaped his lips. He found it hard to believe anyone in that family was a saint; no, Jughead actually knew that for a FACT. He’d grown up on the southside, had grown up as a ‘serpent prince’ before even donning the jacket in his early teens and still, he had seen no one near as low as the Blossom family. The primadonnas of Riverdale who had fallen but still managed to keep that ego of theirs in tact. He leaned closer at that point, voice lowering, “Also, last I checked, prostitution is ILLEGAL in Riverdale and us serpents aren’t the ones dealing in that area. But I heard through the grapevine that someone you know is. Wonder who that could be? Or what others might think?”
@mapleblood
It seemed everyone had issues with the Serpents in this school. Bad blood between the north and the south sides but with Cheryl, the reasoning was a bit more obvious. Severe daddy and brother issues. “You know——” Jughead started, approaching the ‘queen’ of Riverdale High, “——I get you have issues with the serpents but let’s not forget your dad was just as responsible for your brother’s murder as mine was. Actually, I’d say MORE so since he’s the one that tortured and pulled the trigger. So you Blossoms aren’t any better than we are.”
Okay, getting on those starters. Just a reminder that the starter call was for my dark!Jughead who would have spent his childhood more with Toni and Sweet Pea than Betty and Archie.
Archie;
Don’t move, don’t look down.
What does one usually do when told NOT to look down? They usually looked down and that was EXACTLY what Archie did. The sight has his breath coming out faster as panic started to set in. “Oh god.” And there came the excruciating pain. Pain that had his teeth clenching together after sucking in a sharp breath.
The glass was probably the ONLY THING that was stopping him from bleeding too much. The sound of the door opening and Jughead hitting the ground had his heartbeat picking up, panic starting to fill him even more. “Jughead…?”
A few moments later and the door was being opened and Archie let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. Jughead was OKAY. Now to get out of this truck. It’s difficult, each movement HURT LIKE HELL, but somehow he managed to get out using both the truck and Jughead for support.
He gripped a hold of Jughead’s arm as gently as he could, his entire body jolting in pain as he placed his injured leg on the ground, unable to hold back the goan of pain. “Uh, hang on.” He dug his free hand in his pocket to dig out his phone and hold it up so he could look at it. “No, Nothing.”
There was a swear under his breath when Archie confirmed he was in the very same dead zone as Jughead. Getting help wouldn’t be easy with Archie having a shard of glass jutting from his leg and Jughead fighting back probable broken bones from how the dash on his side had curled in on his side of the truck. Hell, maybe taking his own bike would have been easier and safer than this, the teen serpent cringing as he spared a glance at the truck practically destroyed and wrapped around the tree. Them surviving was mere LUCK and nothing more as many people had died from less. Well, luck and seat belts considering Jughead wasn’t reckless enough to drive without them.
Another glance at Archie’s leg before his gaze turned to the backroad they had sped off of, out of sight from the community of Riverdale. “If we can make it to the main road——” he started but that would be a difficult journey. Archie was in no shape to walk it alone, Jughead probably barely able to make it in his own state but he also had the added weight of Archie pressing down on him, pressing down on cuts, bruises, and fragile bones. There was a brief thought to ask Archie if he could stay there but it was thrown from his mind before the words ever even left his lips. After all, someone had CUT the brakes and for all Jughead knew, they were waiting just outside of his field of vision, lurking in the shadows and waiting to pounce on the vulnerable teens. A sense of paranoia crept its way into his gut, green eyes scanning all around them but not moving too much so Archie could have some sort of steady support.
Ghoulies, Jughead was sure of it. Their rival gang or what was left of them. Jughead had warned Archie that they’d be out for blood, after all. Staying there would leave them as sitting ducks. “We’ve got to make it to the main road, maybe we can flag someone down there. Someone else might be out for a late night drive as well. Can you make it?” Did they have much of a choice? The going would probably be slow with their less than ideal conditions but it was better than waiting for the culprits to potentially show up.
“I need a drink.” [ From FP ]
@kalxidoscopc
There’s a scoff as Jughead reached for his bag, reading to just leave the trailer. “I think everyone does. Toni wanted me to go out with her later for drinks at the Whyte Wyrm. But considering I thought you were still going ‘straight’ from alcohol, I won’t be expecting to see you around.”
because I’m dying for it, here’s a starter call from Jughead’s serpent trash verse aka a much darker Jughead who joined the serpents much earlier. Information can be found on his main blog’s verses.

Silence. Utter and complete silence as Jughead shook his seemingly unconscious body. Then a moment later there’s a groaned pain as eyes flutter half way open and closed again. He could VAUGLEY hear the sound of someone’s voice calling his name, though it’s difficult to make out.
Wait…..was that Jughead’s voice calling his name? It sounded panicked. There’s a sharp pain in his head and he could feel warm liquid pouring from his scalp to down the side of his face. Glass is embedded in skin. There’s an EXCRUATING PAIN in his leg. A large piece of glass embedded in it. An injury he couldn’t see but he knew there was SOMETHING WRONG.
Weakly and slowly he lifted his head, blinking because of his blurry vision. “Jughead? Are you okay?” His voice was cracked with his pain and he tried to move, tried to move his injured leg as his hand went to the door, intent on trying to get out of the car and helping Jughead, if he could even get the door open.
However, when he did, a sharp gasp of pain followed by a groan could be heard, his eyes squeezing shut in a wince. “My leg. There’s something wrong with my leg.”
Green eyes glanced down, barely making out in the dim lighting flashing lights from the dashboard signaling all sorts of issues with the wrecked truck, none of which were Jughead’s concern. No, it was more on the glass jutting out of Archie’s leg, denim jeans soaked with a darker colour that Jughead knew to be blood. His stomach churned, the teen fighting back a sickness that rose within him at the sight. Blood, he could deal with. Stuff like that had never been an issue for him, especially when it came to his addiction of true crime. But the blood of his best friend? That was an entirely different story. Reading stories, dealing with serpent things, that didn’t even come close to seeing his best friend since they were children bloodied and bruised right beside him.
“Don’t—— Just don’t move. Don’t look down, don’t do anything.” After all, maybe Archie was in shock and not feeling the full pain just yet like when someone got a small nick on their finger or leg but didn’t feel the pain until they saw it. Jughead glanced down at his own legs, still intact and free of any large shards of class but, oh, how they screamed in pain. The dash had caved in slightly and right into his legs but small shifts told Jughead they were still working though to what extent, he wasn’t sure. There could still be bruised or even broken bones just beneath the surface but with his bashed in head from slamming into the dash, face glittering with minuscule shards of glass, there wasn’t enough cognitive function to focus on the pain just yet.
Jughead wasn’t sure he’d ever been so thankful for a possible concussion.
The door didn’t budge the first time when Jughead tried to open it to get to Archie’s side of the car nor did it open the second or third. It wasn’t until the teen actually SLAMMED his body into it while pulling the handle did it finally give way and send him toppling onto the ground below. It was a full five seconds before he managed to get to his feet, Jughead’s entire body screaming in pain and protest of the sudden movements. A brief pause to finally pull his phone free from his pocket only to discover no signal. Great. Keeping one hand on the truck to both balance and keep himself upright, Jughead managed to make it round to the other side, yanking open the door. “You’re going—— going to have to lean on me or the truck for support. Your phone got a signal? Dead zone for me.”
Toni;
Was it the alcohol? Or the sheer absurdity of what he was proposing? Take down the senior leadership… sometimes it was hard to remember that they were only 16, still minors in every sense of the word. He’d been in the hole, as she had, once upon a time. Petty shit, for playing with matches, and her, for a fight that escalated too far, too quickly. But this was different. What they’d need to do in order to carve the rot and the horror out of that place could land them behind bars meant for adult hands, and without even considering what it would do to his father. Did he think of that? Or only of revenge, as it burned within his very marrow. A sick, sad, need that overwrote everything else. Bloodshot eyes sifted in his direction, lithe fingers drumming a beat into the table. “I’d rather be Triệu Thị Trinh, and skip the burning at the stake, thanks.” dry sarcasm enough to sip at the edges of her sobriety, that she knew she needed now. Angry, too, even if it was hard to put into words. With him, sure. With herself, definitely. With what he demanded of her now in the form of the loyalty that she knew that she had to display? It hallowed her out, her eyelids shutting in quiet discontent. God damnit. This would do nothing to help her, because he was the one still looking at her as he did that night, after the pleading had stopped. And the hatred seeped in, instead, a sepsis that poisoned his veins. Toni’s eyes watching him, but Jughead was no longer prey. As twisted as she was, it was hard to see herself as the victim here, her tongue tracing out the line of her full, cracked lips. “I don’t know if revenge will fix what I’ve done. I don’t think it ever will. You’re still gonna remember me almost skinning you. And in the meantime, you’ll be here… thinking of that every time you have a rat. Every time you need somebody to trust. I’m never going to be it anymore, am I?” She didn’t need his confirmation to know what the truth was, a hand steady at the edge of the table. Pulling herself to stand on steady even as her world warped and felt it spin. Alcohol on empty stomach was never a clever idea. “I want things that I can’t have now. But I’ll help you, all the same. Even if it changes nothing. Even if we’re looking to commit the worst of crimes. It’s not for me, anymore. It’s for everyone else. They don’t need this bullshit poisoning the well from which we’re all drinking from.” The distrust, the petty power plays. They could stop that. Even if it did nothing to save her. @serpentfamily
There’s a click of his tongue against teeth at her words. “Yeah, except she ended up LOSING in the end and killed herself. I mean, several battles later but we shouldn’t end up jinxing ourselves.” Another moment of silence, the male teen apparently deep in thought before another name spilled from his lips, “Hua Mulan?” he offered. “She got a happy ending—— in most versions.” He’d strayed, perhaps alcohol keeping him from focusing on just one thing, preventing a usually clear mind from grasping hold of one clear thought and talks of what essentially would be war within their ranks had descended into comparing Toni, perhaps the person he trusted the most, to women of legend and warriors. Too late, Jughead realized just that and a mix of a scoff and a chuckle left him, “Never mind. My head, it’s just sort of spinning, I guess.” Dancing on different subjects instead of focusing on the most important one.
And there it was, that guilt. There was no denying there was still some lingering resentment. Comments here and there about how good she could be with a knife and while to the outside world, it would seem like a compliment, between them it was anything but. Yet Jughead wouldn’t dare bring up this sort of subject with any of the other serpents, not unless he had Toni’s backing.Casual words here and there but that was the extent of what he had to say. Perhaps she saw her actions in a darker light than Jughead did but who else was there to trust but her? No one else would understand and most would scoff at the idea of taking down the higher ups within the serpents if not turn to them to report his planning. There was a definite rift between them but it was far than some great gaping chasm.
Jughead’s hand shifted to the counter, steadying himself before finally able to sit back down just as Toni moved to stand. His hand reached out, digits wrapping around her wrist to stop her, unsure if she was about to walk out. His touch lacked any roughness to it, green eyes watching to make sure she stayed steady before releasing her wrist altogether. “If I didn’t trust you, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking about this sort of stuff with you or have even taken a drink with you around in case I made myself too vulnerable. You did what you had to do.” He had been seething before, not even glancing at her in the school hallways or classroom but that anger had tapered off. No, he’d never forget but that didn’t mean Jughead would always hold it against her.
“Things aren’t the same anymore. Probably never will be. That doesn’t mean I hate you or distrust you. Tall Boy might be my father’s right hand but you’re mine. After all, I’m not talking a revolution with Sweet Pea or Fangs, now am I?” Fingers tapped on the wooden in table in thought. He could turn to the others though it might take more convincing for them to side with him but Jughead was here with Toni. “But it’s settled then. We’ll take them down, the real rats. Plan something out, get others in on it. Though I don’t think any of that is happening tonight.”
