For everyone (like me) who didn’t super love that ending:
(and might want to read fic to help heal) (or even if you were satisfied with it and would like to see an alternate ending anyway…)
I wrote a fic series about a year ago (well before GO3 was released) about how I thought the show might have ended at the time. Now it serves as a bit of a fix-it, of sorts. If you haven’t read it, yet, would you please check it out? I’m hoping it’ll be a bit of a balm for some of our souls after the tragedy of canon AziraCrow :) Here’s an excerpt from one of the chapters below, as well as a synopsis at the end!! vvvvvv

Aziraphale cleared his throat on the other end. “I’ll explain everything, but first I have to tell you— you can’t call me back on this line, or we’ll be found out, so if the lines go down, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for me to call to talk.”
A few of those phrases stuck to Crowley’s nearly sober mind now. Mainly “we’ll be found out”, which made his heart leap at the implications of a meaning that couldn’t be there, and “I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for me”. Luckily, the last drop of alcohol exited his body before he could respond with something foolish like, “what do you think I’ve been doing all this time?” Instead, Crowley stood, walking to a nearby window and looking out to be sure no one was spying in on this conversation.
“Right ,” Crowley said, “I’ve been searching for a way to break you out, but the vigil that was here under your rug as a gate has been removed. I think it was the angels—”
“Oh yes— how is the shop?”
“It’s fine, listen—“ Crowley continued, “is there some sort of book or something that could tell me a spell to zap you back down here? Or me up, I could take care of the exit plan, I just need to find a way into heaven first- where are they keeping you?”
“Oh that won’t be necessary—” Aziraphale stopped himself. “Mercy, Crowley, were you planning on popping up here yourself?!”
“Well,” Crowley didn’t get another word out before Azirpahale began to scold him.
“That’s insanity!” Aziraphale stopped, minding his tone, and began again by whispering. “You stupid man, there are thousands of angels here waiting to jump you the minute they find you. They think I’d been kidnapped, remember? They think you kidnapped me.”
“Well,” Crowley’s face shriveled up, “sort of did.”
“That’s not the point—” Aziraphale took in a breath, “listen, Crowley. There are things afoot here that you must know.” And here it was. Aziraphale, the idiot he was, always trying to work toward some end that would have him discorporated or worse if he got caught in it. Crowley just sat down, bracing himself in the pause.
“I’m listening,” he told the angel.
“Right,” Aziraphale took a long, shaky breath before continuing on. “They’ve promoted me back to being a cherubim. I am serving as the right hand to the supreme archangel.”
“Wait, I thought you were going to be Supreme Archangel.” Crowley said, brows twisting in confusion.
“Well, they’ve had second thoughts after the whole ‘pointing a flaming sword at the Metatron’ thing.”
“Ahhh,” Crowley winced. Yeah, that’ll do it. He thought to himself.
Aziraphale continued from his end, “Yes. So, I am reporting to the Supreme Archangel—”
“And who’s that?”
“Michael.” Aziraphale replied, patiently.
Crowley blinked. “Michael?! Oh that’s just— well, that’s—”
“Anyway, they’ve told me about their plans.” Aziraphale hurried, “The second coming. It’s worse than we thought—”
“Oh, hold that thought. Incoming Ray of Sunshine: Muriel’s back at the shop.” Crowley said, eyeing them through the window, “Go to go, Angel!”

Series summary:
In a world where Aziraphale makes a bold choice to protect Crowley from the Metatron rather than go up to heaven, Crowley makes a spontaneous move to buy them time in an another plane of existence… one that looks suspiciously like the Ritz! Depending on several of the human friends they’ve made along the way, Aziraphale and Crowley attempt to save the world one last time. Will they be able to solve their own issues while pulling one last miracle? Or will they have to choose between universal peace and ineffable happiness? (Spoiler alert: they don’t have to sacrifice one for the other) (not even to spite GO3, that just how I initially wrote it lol)
There are four works, if you’re interested! It is a complete story, and it does have a happy ending. (And basically is what we could have had if we had a whole season) (thanks a lot NG, may he rot)
First work Summary: “Dining at the Ritz”
Crowley and Aziraphale make a hasty escape to a separate world while they plan out their next move in the war between heaven and hell. Post S2 E6. (Mostly)
Second work summary: “Getting Closer”
After returning to Earth from the temporal void (part 1), Aziraphale and Crowley must navigate the rising tensions between heaven and hell, as they always do, together...
Third work summary: “Every Day”
After saving the world yet again and averting the Second Coming, Aziraphale and Crowley have decided to learn together how to navigate domestic life as two immortal beings. In their attempts at a somewhat normal life, they tackle several obstacles including but not limited to, their own foolish wiles.
Fourth work summary: ”Our Way”
Aziraphale attempts to persuade Crowley to let them keep a stray guest they've stumbled across in their cottage...
Before getting to the link I do want to have a disclaimer: this fic is not here to divide the fandom. It was written well before the finale was released as a bit of speculation for where the show could go and an outlet for what I wanted the show to be in some ways. Any details that coincide with the finale or its recently heated debates are not intentional and are purely coincidental and should not be taken uber seriously in that light. This was just a fun little ending I wrote for myself, and now may serve a whole new purpose and perspective with the fandom since the release of the finale.
TLDR: Don’t throw tomatoes at me, this was written pre-GO3 for funsies.
Okay that’s all!!
It’s called “First Came Falling”, The link is here:
