I’ve been asked countless times my opinion of that video. I’m just going to say this once. MY opinion is not about why he moved, he was the grand marshal, he was not there to stand by her side all afternoon. It’s the bigger picture of that whole day but also things that stick out to me even in their (what were meant to be) private moments. He went to get his photo taken. He knew he was needed. It’s the fact when she’s rubbing his back he doesn’t react naturally back to her. He doesn’t smile at her. He doesn’t put his arm around her. Even walking through the crowd she’s grabbing onto his arm with her free hand whilst carrying her 9 year old with the other and yet the man who has two hands free does not react and take her hand to guide her easier through the crowd.

We’ve all seen these “moments in time” as some call them. People make excuses that it’s a quick capture. The after party video was him in “work mode”, the reaction after the public kiss was “he’s guarded in front of fans” and the entirety of the parade was “he doesn’t like PDA”

Ok sure.

But the Photo Booth pic? And now this embarrassing profile pic? Those two moments were PRIVATE moments. Cute Photo Booth pics for private memories. Yet he looks strained, he’s not being silly, goofy or fun. He looks like he’s forced into it. And now the vacation pic. My biggest issue. The one thing that made me go ok now my minds made up. A vacation is when you’re at your most relaxed. Most genuine. You’re posing for a picture on the beach, on a blissful summer holiday. It’s taken for your private memories of that holiday. I’m sure many photos were taken (or not, if that’s what she chose) but EVERY photo would be you beaming, no fans around to be “guarded” around. No care for PDA because who notices you in the crowd on a beach. No work mode to stress you out. And yet, he’s not beaming. He’s not silly smiling or hugging her into him, he’s not being the fun Sam who everyone says he is.

Also side note.. idk one grown up woman dating anyone, let alone a celeb who has their icon with their partner but cut majority of him out. It’s weird. It’s crazy behaviour. It’s basically more embarrassing each day I think about it.

Well… She Threw The Bait. I Just Didn’t Bite. 👀

Something felt off the moment I saw the picture.

Not because of what was in it.

But because of what wasn’t.

The watermark.

If you’ve followed these kinds of posts and blogger for a while, you’ll know that’s usually one of the first things people notice.This time, it wasn’t there.

That immediately made me pause.

So instead of jumping to conclusions, I did what I always do.

I asked questions…I looked closer…I ran a few checks…

That’s the thing about the internet…Not every image is fake…BUT Not every image is real.

Sometimes the most interesting part of a story…isn’t the picture itself…It’s why some people are so eager for you to stop asking questions.

At this point, what’s exhausting isn’t even chasing the breadcrumbs anymore.

It’s the fact that they still exist.

A year into this circus and we’re still being fed interview scraps, vague tags, unclear innuendos, and kindergarten level social media signalling.

A year of feeling like we’re being played, watched, answered, and treated like complete idiots.

A year in which Sam has lost a lot of the respect and goodwill he had from almost every corner of the fandom. And not because of one relationship or another, but because of the way he has handled himself within it.

This is supposedly a relationship that isn’t private enough to be private, but isn’t public enough to be public either.

It exists in that convenient middle ground where the audience is expected to draw its own conclusions, keep his name in the conversation, and do all the work for him, while he keeps a safe distance from anything definitive.

So after a year, I think it’s fair to call it what it is.

Manipulation.

At this point, if Sam told me it was morning, I’d check the sky. And honestly, how sad is that? To stop believing someone you respected and supported for years.

There’s a reason so many different corners of the fandom have found common ground here. It’s not because everyone suddenly agrees about Sam and Caitriona. It’s not because everyone agrees this is PR, or a beard, or about hidden sexuality. It’s because this specific narrative has managed to offend almost everyone, just for different reasons.

Most people seem to agree that she is a very questionable person with a troubling history. And he himself is coming across either as a manipulative man trolling his own fandom at best, or as a player who knowingly exposes a child, one who has already been through enough instability, to unnecessary risk at worst.

I don’t feel excited about his next projects anymore.

I don’t feel any desire to support his business ventures or his marketing campaigns.

I don’t feel affection for someone who has turned himself into a product and keeps marketing himself through other people, with very little concern for the danger he may be putting them in.

And I don’t have much respect left for a man who seems to have lost every ounce of authenticity, who keeps playing a version of himself I genuinely don’t like, while probably seeing me as nothing more than a walking dollar sign.

It’s time to grow up, Sam.

Better to be loved for who you are than abandoned for who you’re trying to be.

We tend to analyze and decode every little drop of information that enters our lives, whether it’s true or not. But at the end of the day, it’s important to look at the bigger picture.

Why are these innuendos even needed?

Why does a year long relationship still need to hint at its own existence?

Why is there a business profile that’s about everything except business and a bunch of cliché quotes, when its real purpose is obvious to anyone with a double digit IQ?

If Sam were truly in a serious, loving relationship, there are two ways he could have handled it.

The first, and in my opinion the one most suited to him: we simply wouldn’t know she existed. He would be quietly and happily in love, without putting anyone at risk in the process.

The second: he would look happy. He would glow around her. He would want to share her with the world. He would look back to make sure she was there because he wanted her there.

This strange limbo we’re in looks like everything except a serious, loving relationship, and every little stunt like this only proves it more.

And to answer the anons: no, it doesn’t sound like him to me. But I’m sure she’ll make sure to prove it to us if it is. Meanwhile, she got the traffic she wanted.

Maybe it’s time we stop writing the script.

At this point, I don’t think the question is whether Tumblr is being read. It obviously is. By who exactly doesn’t even matter anymore, because the pattern is consistent: Tumblr points at the weak spot, and then a post appears that seems designed to patch it.

A month ago it was the birthday collage, last week it was the thumbs and the hats. People questioned whether it was really her, and then hours later came the selfie. Now it was the dog, the sunglasses, the doubt, and right on schedule, the repost.

So the real question is: why are we still handing them the talking points?

Every time this corner of Tumblr gets loud, it functions like a free focus group. We highlight the hole, they plug it. Usually badly, but still. And the timing makes it even more obvious. The Josh sketch and bloopers reignited the Sam and Cait discourse, and on cue, we get a Steph breadcrumb right when the conversation gets too loud.

I completely understand why people want to talk or vent or just joke about it. It’s exhausting, and humor helps. But if the public dash is being used as a live workshop for this narrative, then maybe the smartest move is to move the conversations elsewhere. DMs, group chats, private communities, whatever works.

Because at this point, we’re not just watching the circus. We’re shaping the show. And whether it continues is, annoyingly, in our hands.
