My Minnie and Sylvesters ideal relationship.

As you know, I'm a big fan of Sylvester Shyster fan meaning I spend most of my time thinking about this corrupt lawer and his relationships- and his dynamic with Minnie is no different.

Now, said many times that don't like how Sylvester had a crush on Minnie as in my opinion it's the least interesting part of his history and character, it might have stood out back in the day in but now since almost every villain under the sun had once had a crush on Minnie it very much past it prime.

But that doesn't mean i necessarily like now their relationship is pretty much nonexistent in some comics due the fact they used to be friends at one point even if was only a means to end for Sylvester is so interesting to me.

Because on the surface Minnie and Sylvester are complete opposites,Minnie is kind to a fault to point it easily can comes off as bit naive, while Sylvester is the meanest lawyer around.

But they actually do have some things in common spefically their sophistication. Both Minnie and Sylvester see themselves as posh and refine which in my mind would leas to their friendship. In fact thery are times where Minnie can comes off as pompous like Sylvester sometimes caring more about looking proper than actual problem going on.

The difference is Minnie is fundamentally a sweet person that care deeply for people around her, while Sylvester is well Sylvester.. he's a very self-centered person that constantly wants to be ahead and be better than everyone else

So my ideal relationship that Sylvester and Minnie were once in very toxic friendship, until Minnie found out about his illegal doings and finally cuts him off.. and well ,Sylvester being a bit control freak didn't like that at all..

And yes this interpretation is inspired by @scummiezzz post about Minnie and Mortimer relationship over the year because I joked that Mortimer only needs some friends to have healthy relationship with Minnie... while Sylvester needs to put in jail.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

I ADORE everything about him, but genuinely I just love how brash and skeevy this guy is. I love that he's a schemer, and I love that people fall for it way more than they should. I love how often he tries to manipulate people, and how rough around the edges he is. The instant shows try to smooth out those edges, I become FAR less interested.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

This was such a difficult question I gotta be so honest ;u; because genuinely I like everything about this motherfucker, including his flaws. I can't even say that I particular hate how he treats woman, because I like that as a character flaw as well, and if that perversion went away he wouldn't be the same ToT

I guess I'll just cop out and say that I'm not always the biggest fan of funhouse!mortimer because of that exact reason? he's a lot less rough around the edges but it *is* a kid's show so I can't really expect anything different and I'm just happy they included him at all bahaha

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

I think a lot of people do a good job making him suck? like he stays pretty awful for the most part, I'm not a fan of when he's too woobified without reason (I feel a little hypocritical saying this since I make him softer in my au but to be fair that just in private between Cal and Mort so I think it's fine fjdklsjf).

Oh, and I REALLY like when they come up with ways that Mortimer could redeem himself realistically, and who he would be friends or even lovers with! we don't see him with a lot of actual friends so it makes me happy :] For this reason I enjoy seeing MortMin friendships, MortMick friendships/relationships, and MortGladstone friendships/relationships, among others ^_^

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

other Mortimer selfships >:[[[[ (<- JOKING! JOKING! anyone who knows me knows how pubically sharing I am with him hahaha)

seriously though I can't really think of much! I suppose if he's written somewhat one-dimensionally I'm not a fan, but that goes for pretty much any character so idk if it counts :p you can usually tell when someone who DESPISES mortimer draws or writes him and so I can pretty easily stay away!

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I answered this in a previous ask, but I'm not particularly picky! in my ideal reality they'd both be in some sort of romance drama or a character driven show where we'd be able to see how they'd react to a bunch of different situations :] I want to see their motivations for things... their mundane opinions that would be sprinkled in throughout the show... the way each of them handle conflicts... and how they would act in relationships (not necessarily with each other but come on I'm biased I would love to see it canon lololol)

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I thought on this for a few days, and honestly I wouldn't mind any franchise in particular! I would love to see him in a character driven show so we could see into his mind a bit more... maybe see some more of his motivations and insecurities, or even see some backstory for him! I would accept any and every crumb that show would throw at me XD

I know I'm biased, but I would love to see him in some sort of romance drama... .-. I genuinely want to see what Mortimer would be like in an *actual* relationship or courtship with someone,,,, for better or for worse! (probably for worse lets be honest lol)

what would he do? how would he act? would he treat his partner decently well, or would he take them for granted now that the chase is over? how would he handle conflict in a romantic relationship? I wanna knowwww =u=

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I have so many headcanons for him hahaha, let's see....

well I think he's half rat for starters! I know it's a joke that he's a rat in the derogatory sense, but I actually quite like the idea that it's true and he's a littleeee ashamed of it so he hides it (in my au the rat comes from his dad's side).

I also think he comes from a wealthy family but is on bad terms with them,,, which gives me a in-universe explanation for why sometimes he seems affluent and sometimes he's dead broke :P

I also think he's a fan of really bad drama shows but he'll never admit it to anyone else. He just seems like the kind of guy to love gossip and exaggerated story elements! Hence why I have him and Callista watch a lot of 'Desperate Mousewives' together :p Callista forces him to watch it at first but eventually he becomes more invested in the storylines than she is bahahaha.

My au takes place in the mid-2000s after all! X) desperate mousewives would have been veryyyy popular

I've already talked at length about the particular reasons I love Mortimer, as you've mentioned, but as for what INITIALLY drew me to him....

Literally the first time I ever even heard of Mortimer Mouse was in February of 2024 when he was trending on Twitter LOL. Before then he was never on my radar. I Wasn't much of a Mickey and Friends kid and I didn't grow up watching House of Mouse so I never knew he existed!

When I saw him as a meme I was tickled pink and it was love at first sight XD I thought he was so brash and funny and outrageous, and I had no idea a mickey character could be Like That. I was immediately drawn in by him and even after the meme drifted off into irrelevancy I continued to watch clips of him and learn more about him X)

also fun fact! the first drawings I did of Callista and Mortimer were the first drawing I had did in 2-3 years! I spent my entire life drawing but at a certain point in my adulthood I just sort of,,, gave up. I was in an artistic dry spell for a very long time and I was convinced that phase of my life was over. Mortimer represents a very important part of my creative journey and in a way he saved that part of me that wants to create <3 him and his story that I've created for Callista are terribly important to me as a result <3

he really is my muse.
