     ＴＨＩＳＭＡＮＨＡＳＡＳＮＡＫＥ＇ＳＥＹＥＳ．   hanzo understands what he is by way of the two swords, the slits in his pupils. an odd sort, witchers are ... his abilities concerning the SHIMADA DRAGONS could very well be considered nonhuman; grounds for a witcher to try and kill him for the sake of some easy money. those who tried before were DEAD before they hit the ground, and this old timer would be no exception.

          ＨＡＮＺＯ  ＩＳ  ＦＡＲ  ＦＲＯＭ  ＣＯＮＶＩＮＣＥＤ．   in his experience, he has plenty of reason to be so cautious ― especially with a man as gruff and haggard as THIS. the bow nor the arrow do not shift so much as an inch. the only hints of movement on the archer’s part are the furrowing of his brow and the slightest TWITCH of a finger.

                   ❝ i will do as i please. ❞   his answer is curt and cold, fingers TENSE on his bowstring.   ❝ curiosity killed the cat, but you are clearly determined ... ask your questions, then. i may deign to answer them. ❞

          ＨＥ　ＤＯＥＳ　ＮＯＴ　ＣＡＬＬ　ＴＨＥ　ＷＡＴＣＨＰＯＩＮＴ　ＨＯＭＥ，　ＤＥＳＰＩＴＥ　ＨＯＷ　ＯＦＴＥＮ　ＨＥ　ＶＩＳＩＴＳ．   hanzo has made it clear to everyone who dared to ask that he has no affiliation with overwatch; he cares little for the organization or their efforts, so he says. he is there for genji, and for genji ALONE. he helps from time to time, if genji pesters him enough and the pay is decent, but he is not an agent. he never will be. he’s marched to the beat of his own drum far too long now to be relinquishing his CONTROL to someone else. 

          in the process of returning to the city, he knows he is being watched. it’s late, past midnight at this point, and hanzo can feel his hackles RAISE with every step he takes. something is off; this is more than fleeting paranoia or overthinking. someone is FOLLOWING him, and it certainly isn’t someone he knows. 

          despite the growing sense of uneasiness settling at the pit of his stomach, the archer hardly gives any outward indication that he is at all BOTHERED. these alleyways won’t do him much good if he has to fight, being as dark and cramped as they are; his best hope is to scrabble up a wall and start slinging arrows. hanzo grits his teeth at the thought ― he’s had ENOUGH.

                      ＨＥ　ＲＡＲＥＬＹ　ＴＲＥＡＴＳ　ＨＩＭＳＥＬＦ　ＴＯ　ＳＵＣＨ　ＰＲＩＶＩＬＥＧＥＳ．   either because it’s not in his  ( rather limited )  budget or because he just doesn’t see the POINT in it, though the latter is usually the case. he is an assassin, after all ― people like him forsake the treats of domestic life to pursue a livelihood fueled by DEATH. hanzo knows well that of all the things he deserves, a REWARD is pretty far down on the list.

          nonetheless, he stands outside the ramen shop in hanamura with his hands shoved in his pockets and his eyes peeled. he has FOND MEMORIES, here ― he and genji both do. the archer supposes that’s the point of coming in the first place. the past was the past, but if they could only remember and UNDERSTAND each other as they had when times were simpler ... maybe they had a chance to be brothers again. they were a long way off, but if genji truly believed in him, hanzo hardly had the RIGHT to let him down once more.

          hanzo is yanked from his thoughts as the jarring omnic-like appearance of his brother catches eye, finally. he greets him with a tilt of his head, huffing in mild ANNOYANCE ― though the genuine nature of that was questionable.   

❝ genji ... you are LATE. ❞

hhh. hey folks, going to try and somewhat be here in the next few days but I might be scarce bc my dad has to go in and get his appendix removed tomorrow and since he’s gonna be in the hospital for 3 or 4 days probably, I’m gonna have to pick up his chores on top of my own so I can’t guarantee I’m gonna be like on my A game this week
