http://go.sdsu.edu/student_affairs/pridecenter/ The Pride Center at San Diego State University creates, sustains, and strengthens an open, inclusive, safe, and affirming gathering space and campus environment for persons of all sexual and gender identities and their allies. The Center facilitates campus-wide education, awareness, dialog, intellectual exploration, understanding and research on issues related to sexuality and gender. The Center fosters the development of student leadership skills and enhances student empowerment, personal and professional growth, and community service. The Center provides resources and support services to assist students in their process of sexual and gender identity development and to address the unique needs and challenges of students who may experience discrimination, alienation, disenfranchisement, harassment, intimidation or other barriers to student success as a result of their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. In collaboration with the University community, the Center advocates for social justice and equality for all, for a campus climate free of prejudice and oppression, for community building, and for the celebration of SDSU’s rich cultural and social diversity.

San Diego State University’s Pride Center and Queer Student Union would like to invite you to our first large scale dance: The Spring Queertillion. We are so excited to invite you to our Spring Queertillion, as this is SDSU’s first semi-formal gathering for the queer community! This is intended for all college and universities in San Diego County. There is a limited capacity for the space and entrance will be first come. The event will take place on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 8:30pm to 12:30am. The event will take place in Montezuma Hall, which is located on the East side of the second floor of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union on San Diego State’s campus. A map is available here:https://sunspot.sdsu.edu/map/display.cgi?new_loc_id=2002 This event is open to college or university students 18 and over with valid ID (both a college/university ID and ID verifying the student’s age are required.) For security reasons, only small bags will be allowed inside. The event will also consist of a performance component, Lip-Sync Extravaganza! Students wishing to participate can send a message including their: preferred name, school and short biography or any questions regarding the performance can be sent to The Pride Center at [email protected]. The contest is inclusive of all gender identities (drag performers are welcome to apply). There are only so many slots available, those who wish to participate are encouraged to do so early. Registration closes February 9th 2015. Faculty/Staff with inquiries about volunteering for the event or anyone with questions may contact The Pride Center Coordinator, Anthony Keen, at [email protected]. Feel free to share with any other students and campuses who may express interest.
