#good gifs painful gifs #the pacific #something to be said here about the mirroring of leckie and gibson (which of course this shot accomplishes visually) to in a way reassure #leckie (and the viewer) of leckie's comparative sanity #but in order to do that they have to make gibson into a pathetic figure (in the modern sense but also the archaic literal sense: deserving #of pity) and to do that they have to treat the japanese soldier he strangled to death (!!) as a prop rather than a human being #there is no moral reckoning of gibson's actions; rather his actions are deemed insane and leckie is compared to him to deem him not insane #which strips the soldier's murder of moral meaning twice over: they show it in order to reassure the audience that leckie et al our beloved #heroes were not carrying out that kind of violence while also validating that kind of violence by making that soldier and the japanese #soldiers in general inhuman; bodies practically already dead

The Wiener Werkstätte (engl.: Vienna Workshop), established in 1903 by the graphic designer and painter Koloman Moser, the architect Josef Hoffmann and the patron Fritz Waerndorfer [de], was a productive association in Vienna, Austria that brought together architects, artists, designers and artisans working in ceramics, fashion, silver, furniture and the graphic arts. It is regarded as a pioneer of modern design, and its influence can be seen in later styles such as Bauhaus and Art Deco.

My first phone was a nokia 1112 in 2008
