It’s possible that Rhett has been avoiding dealing with the world outside of their apartment a little bit. It hasn’t been hard to do. Between both jobs and the baby, he mostly only has enough energy to go to work, come home, spend a little time with Charlie, and pass out in his bed.

But on Sundays he gives Link a reprieve from all babysitting duties and usually ventures out to run a few errands. That includes grocery shopping, because he learned a long time ago that sending Link to buy food just ended badly for everyone when Link came home with no bread (“I swear I spent half an hour looking for the aisle!”), rubbery generic cheese (“They wanted $4 for the store brand!”), and jalapeno flavored ketchup (“I might have got a little distracted.”).

He’s standing in the cereal aisle debating if four boxes is too many when someone taps him on the shoulder.

Sorry ya'll!! please read/reblog I'm 1 week away from being homeless

@magicbubblepipe and myself, 3 kitties, 1 bunny, 6 parakeets and a rose hair tarantula will be homeless in 7 days if we don't come up with our late rent ($1600) there's no way I can rehome my babies that quickly and the thought of that really crushes me. It feels like I've failed them.

We fell behind when they cut the unemployment pandemic funding and owe 2 months of rent with next month's coming up fast. I start work tomorrow but it's biweekly pay and my landlord has only given us a week

If ya'll could donate or reblog, you'd be directly responsible for keeping us alive and it would mean so so much to us 🙏 I feel guilty as hell asking for more help when ya'll already do so much for us but we'll be out on the streets by the end of October and I'm so scared

On Thursday, Rhett gets up early and drives back to campus to take the final for one of his statistics classes. By some miracle he’s pretty sure he passes. He also goes by his apartment to pick up some clothes and grab a few books. It’s empty, all the other boys probably wrapped up in finals hell, and he’s selfishly relieved that he doesn’t have to face any of them yet. Greg knows most of the story, and he’s sure Link has given the rest of their friends some abbreviated form of an explanation for Rhett’s sudden disappearance, but he doesn’t have it in him at the moment to answer any questions or face down any judgmental stares. He’s barely faking his way through hour by hour without looking like he’s constantly on the verge of a panic attack, and he’s not even sure how great a job he’s doing at that.

He doesn’t see Link that day or the next day. They talk on the phone once more but he’s busy wrapping up the semester and Rhett doesn’t expect to see him until the following week, so of course he shows up at Rhett’s house on Saturday afternoon.

Update: things are saddening! We're 2 months behind on rent and only have 3 days to come up with it, our $200 electric bill is due on the 22nd and now we have to find a new internet provider because att hasn't fixed our internet in A Month and my unemployment has run out
