MORTAL ENGINES BOOK 1/MOVIE SPOILERS BELOW CUT

So, I haven't watched the full Mortal Engines film, so I've been watching clips to get an idea of how innacurate to the book it is, and I've just seen the clip relating to the 60 minute war.

WHY DOES THE FILM IMMEDIATELY EXPLAIN MEDUSA TO TOM AND THE AUDIENCE?!?!?

It COMPLETELY ruins the mystery and intrigue.

Don't even get me started on how a 15 year old history student in a society with little available information managed to build a functional computer.
