You know what else bothers me about Thedas in terms of world building? Fish.
Now, follow me here, I donât mean I expect Bioware to have spent five minuets talking about what kind of fish are swimming around, but if you think about it⊠look at how the oceans are. Look at the rivers and ponds. Look at the predators and other animal species present on the waterlines and what we see around water in general.
Like, Bioware is telling me that Cod, Whiting, Bass, and other eating fish are the only thing swimming around that people can haul in?
That there arenât some giant ass catfish in the rivers that the Dalish have to avoid now and then because theyâre the size or aravels, and the ones that arenât are the varieties that are attracted to Halla and will leech on them and burrow into their skin. Fish that prey on wyvern eggs and spawn inside the eggs so the Wyvern would protect the clutch. Fish that live on or near underwater lyrium veins, glowing and inhabiting sunken and flooded areas of the Deep Roads. Huge river fish in the northern countries that gulp air and are thickly armored, having existed since Arlathan, single fish living hundreds of years. Huge Fereldan fish that grow fast, spawn, and die in fast moving rivers in such numbers that they nearly burst over the banks.Â
Rivaini sailors knowing better than to go drinking in certain harbors because thereâs fish that would take advantage of you falling into the harbor, tearing a hole or two in your gut and burrowing inside for it and 50 others to eat you hollow.Â
Sea fish that make fishing for food on a voyage a proper task, because the storms mean they can spawn without people fishing them till they venture close to shore.Â
Iâm just saying thereâs probably enough weird fish swimming aorund that they could have had Isabella making comments about low-level enemies were nothing in comparison to dealing with fish ok. Or in Inquisition the swimming in deep water could have been discouraged by, not a black screen, but a fish the size of a mini-van coming for your ass.
