K, I’m getting really upset about some of these posts dealing with t100′s horrible and inexcusable use of a gross kill your gays trope. First, let me start by saying: I stand with you. I hadn’t watched this season and was going to catch up but upon hearing of Lexa’s death, decided “fuck that.” 

Now, I’ve seen a good amount of people talking about Glee in all of this. They talked about their mistreatment of their queer women. I agree, in a way. I honestly hated both Santana and Brittany because their characters were unbearable, imo and tbh, I would have LOVED to love them, seeing as there is so little queer rep on tv.

**ETA: I have a general problem with the way bisexuality was treated on the show, but overall, Glee offered well rounded queer characters (and even if i disliked some of them, I appreciated that they were there and had stories told about them)**

BUT, I’m seeing SO MANY of these people say that the REASON Glee tanked in viewers, was their mistreatment of their queer women, and that is JUST NOT TRUE. In season 4 there was a comment about Brittana and the “Angry lesbian blogging community” (this is on a bunch of posts I’ve seen). This was in SEASON 4. Views did not change after that. They got a season 5, and it wasn’t even a question at the time. HOWEVER views started to drop after Cory Monteith DIED. Cory played the MAIN male character on the show and he was such a powerful and important presence. I stopped watching when he died, as did MANY MANY MANY others. and the REASON they weren’t sure if season 6 was a go or not was because 1) they did lose viewers and 2) they (TPTB and the cast) weren’t sure if they WANTED to continue doing the show without Cory.

Now, I am in support of queer people revolting over injustices done to characters like us in television and film, but attributing the tanking of Glee to ANYTHING other than the ACTUAL DEATH of a HUMAN BEING (who was an amazing person, btw) is really, really gross.
