There is something deeply satisfying in knowing that Pete could go out and meet a nice boy, try to forget what happened and they could get married and maybe sort of be kinky on special occasions and he'll be happy. He'll smile and hold hands and it would be nice. Wholesome.
But he'll never be loved. He will never be loved how he's supposed to be loved and he knows it and it's breaking him into pieces and that really satisfies the dark twisty part of me and I feel zero shame.
Not to be unhinged on OP's post but I remembered this after the "Can someone else take you out to eat?" line and I started to cry...
It's like Vegas asking "I am nothing now, I can't love you feed you like you deserve, can't you find someone else do it?" and Pete's answer is of course "no, it's either you or starvation"
I welcome the unhinged. I haven't even hit my VP finale feels yet.
I think that the symbolism is also a double edged sword. The cast spoke about Maslow's hierarchy of needs and how KP represent something on that to each other. But you know what your basic needs are? Your foundation needs? The very bottom is your physiological needs. That's food, water, shelter. After that is your safety, how secure do you feel?
What Pete is asking for is to have his most basic needs met by Vegas. That his presence in Pete's life is as fundamental as food. Take me to eat, feed me = love me, keep me safe, you're it.
Vegas tries to deny it because no one needs him. No one wants him. Macau will go on because he's a good kid, he isn't rotten and broken into pieces like he is. Pete likening his needs and love to food are an undeniable reason for Vegas to continue. Pete can't live if he doesn't have Vegas. Once he says that, Vegas breaks because Pete may be the only person ever who has needed him like that and he's a weak man who wants to be loved by the one he loves.
Yeah, best not to enter the cave dwelling of a meta gremlin, you don't know what you're gonna get.
