Allow me to add to the discussion. I also have these photos as being the work of Nelson Evans but also stills from the movie “The Trembling Hour” 1920 the actress was identified as Anna Mae Walthall. I have additional photos for this set that I can share if you want or need. Now that we are all more confused we need some additional facts.
The past, they say, is another country. We’re talking less than 100 years ago, and we know so little. IMDB lists the film as 1919, and Anna as one of the stars, but there are no images on file.
I’ve found the same conflicting information and have the other images too, but it’s hard to believe that this scene was a general release film even Pre-Hays. They definitely aren’t frames of nitrate film stock. If anything there would have production photos or theater cards.
