🐳 Update : Chris and I are ✈️ to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston later this week for two days of appointments, meetings, scans, an MRI, and hopefully some time to look at short-term apartments for when I relocate later this summer. TCH is where we plan to deliver our precious Lysander, and where he will receive the best care we can provide for him at this time. . . I am feeling all the feelings, especially as I think about eventually living so far from my 3 older kiddos for months... I also feel nervous about our medical journey, living in a new city while recovering from having a baby, a long NICU stay, and all the unknowns about how Lysander will fare once he’s born. It’s a bit paralyzing and a lot overwhelming at times. “Staying strong” is a luxury, “keeping it together” is a struggle, and to be quite honest, I’m just weary in every way. There are so many positive CDH success stories out there, some I’m witnessing daily, but I’ve yet to find a baby with CDH and other the congenital anomalies that our baby has, particularly his tiny size, underdevelopment, and missing limbs. So... just a lot of unknowns and really just waiting and trusting God with every moment, thought, feeling, fear... And still there is much to be thankful for... . . The parents, my E’s and I enjoyed a fun walk at Turkey Creek Park today. It was very hot out. Celebrating National Donut Day with a one hour glucose test! 😬👎🏼 It’s one of my least favorite things to do, having had gestational diabetes before, so I brought all my comfort items: @humblehilo dress, @birkenstock shoes, squishy-happy shawl, Kindle, and some knitting. (I carry really big purses.) If I pass this test, I’ve promised myself a 🍩 later to celebrate. 🙂 . . . In other news... we met with a Pediatric Surgeon and NICU staff in Pensacola earlier this week to discuss delivery options, etc. It seems our best option might be to deliver in August in Gainesville, about a 4hr drive from home, where they have the equipment and staff Lysander may need post-birth. Surgery, ECMO, and a lengthy NICU stay at the Children’s Hospital there will most likely be in our future.
