Every night I look at my small child and feel a pain that words cannot describe.
I am a father trying to protect my family, yet I cannot even provide the most basic things for my child. We are living in a damaged and partially destroyed home that is no longer safe for human life. The walls are cracked, the roof leaks, and every strong wind makes us fear the house may collapse.
Our home is located near the yellow line, an area under the control of the Israeli army. Gunfire and explosions are part of our daily life. Many nights we wake up to the sound of shooting and shelling nearby. My child holds my hand tightly and asks me in fear, “Dad… are we safe?”
I wish I had an answer.
Recently, the situation has become even worse. Because of the war between Iran and Israel, the crossings into Gaza are closed, and the blockade has tightened even more. This has made life here unbearable for families like mine.
Food is becoming harder to find.
Clean water is scarce.
And prices are rising day after day, far beyond what we can afford.
We are living through extremely difficult days. Sometimes we sleep hungry. Sometimes we spend the night in fear, not knowing what the next morning will bring.
As a father, nothing breaks my heart more than seeing my child suffer while I stand helpless, unable to protect him from hunger, fear, and cold.
I never imagined I would have to ask strangers for help, but today I have no other choice.

The thing that really boils my potatoes about AI in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist.
But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this AI generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the AI Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building.
I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.
The chief advantage of AI from a managerial perspective is you don’t have to deal with [expletive] uppity artists talking back to you and bringing their own ideas and creativity into your vision for what you want. You don’t have to schedule meetings with them, you don’t have to arrange to have them added to the payroll, you don’t have to think about how polite you need to be to them, you don’t have to wait to hear back from them, you don’t have to deal with the choice paralysis of deciding which one to hire; all that’s gone and in its place is a robot where you type in a sentence and get a thing, and if you don’t like the thing you can do another gatcha pull and get another variant of the thing.
You can damn well bet that to the managerial class, this is worth six fingers and a happy thansgivirg.
Shit; I forgot to make my actual point, which is this—a lot of elaborate creative notes are just the human desire to exercise power over something one is ostensibly responsible for. You can look up Leland Sklar’s producer switch on his bass, a switch he installed that does nothing that he switches whenever a producer tells him they want to hear something different from what he’s doing, for evidence of this. The managerial class only cares about doing that to people. They’re fine with whatever AI gives them because they already feel in control over AI; they provide elaborate feedback on human creativity because when they’re dealing with an artist, the artist feels in control, not them.
