Earlier I was scrolling Reddit and I come across a post in r/shrooms, a sub reddit dedicated to psychadelic mushrooms and frequently featuring entries from users who are posting during a trip.

A guy posts, freaking out, that the delivery person who dropped off his food had a huge snake wrapped around his neck and the snake was talking to him and tripped him out.

He shares a picture ne sneakily took of the delivery driver.

The delivery driver actually does, in fact, have a live 7 or so foot long boa constrictor draped across his shoulders.

Can you fucking image. Being blasted out of your gourd on hallucinogenic substances, getting a random knock at the door and the guy has a live gigantic snake just chilling. Your head would explode

#yeah my University waited to pave new areas so people could make desire paths and they could pave those#which is super cool! like very smart of them to make the people do most of the work#but even with the shortcuts#people are still making desire paths

It's because the paved paths changed the desired route. A desire path is a compromise between saving distance and harder walking (it's easier to walk on paved ground, especially if you've got a pram or bike or something), so if you pave a desire path, you change the hard/easy walking part of the equation and the ideal route changes.

#also pavement is sometimes bad on joints... this is a weird niche argument that isn't really meant to be factored into calculations #but like... for all the people that walking on the paved path is easier #there are a bunch of people where it feels better to walk a dirt path just a little bit #it's not enough people to reasonably factor into city planning or anything and usually the answer is to get shoes with shock absorption #but have you met people who have a preference for a seemingly meaningless thing like 'dirt paths are more comfortable to walk on'?#if they are passionate enough to have formed a preference in the kind of ground they prefer walking on #then like... they've made up their mind. they don't like walking on paved paths. shock absorbing walking boots are not gonna change things #and they're gonna trample your parks and lawns as much as they please so you better come prepared to deal with it #city planning accommodates for its people. even if those people have a logic that doesn't make sense to city planning

Whenever an artist who makes dark content gets outed as a sexual predator people will be like 'aha it was obvious something was up because their work was so dark and nasty' and whenever an artist who makes wholesome content gets outed as a sexual predator people will be like 'aha it was obvious something was up because their work was so aggressively wholesome' and it's like you know I think maybe you can't tell whether or not someone is a predator based on their artistic output.

The switch from 'this work is well made and fulfilling' to 'this work actually sucks (or if it doesn't suck it was stolen and we all coincidentally didn't notice until right this moment)' the instant someone gets outed as a bad person is also always really disorienting. People just cannot handle the fact that bad people can make good art.
