Copper addict

The current modern design addiction: copper. With a range of hue that goes from salmon color to chocolate brown or even a gray-green wasted style. The copper is a material that can be recycled infinite times without losing its performance. With timeless beauty in his color and texture,  the copper provides different types of helpful use.

Designers and company, studios like Tom Dixon, Copper (Cu ID), Hay, have been experimenting the work-ability of the material, and the results are as eclectic as elegant and fashionable. The copper can be easily polished and look bright again, its durability and versatility makes it attractive to all designers and architects.

The last golden party: wild and chic.

New Year Party is just in 6 days.

Finally it has arrived, the party of the year, the last one might be the best. The night will be shinning bright either because of your outfit , the disco ball or the stars.

As is the last big golden party of the 2015 it has to be wild and it has to be chic. Your night might not get as crazy as the 54 studio’s parties of the 80’s, and not as perfect as the Gatsby’s, but you can find yourself in the line between those two, that’s our wild and chic way to do it.

This is life, and we have a lifestyle. Live it, a year has gone by and another good one is about to come, go for it, and let the 2016 found you at your best. Hands up, smile on.

Isola- Pilooski

“Isola” the musical project made by Pilooski.

Like a musical meditation, stories and thoughts are unveiled in mystic sounds. A deep but relax ambient with four tracks is Isola.

Pilooski, real named Cédric Marszewski, is a  french DJ who’s known for always finding inspiration on past records. Pilooski has been the man in charge of the mixes for some Adidas advertising campaigns, and music supervisor for brands like Hermès . This time, I’m specifically recommending you “Isola” , which was influenced by a time capsule made in the 1930’s and the radio broadcasts for the insomniacs .

Isola is striking to the ears, the four readers in the mixes are Jarvis Cocker (musician, songwriter, actor) on the English reading, Judah Warsky -with his own writing in Spanish,  Narumi Herisson reads from the Japanese story “In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom which was written in 1947, and at the end French words to our ears with Liberati’s 113 studies of Romantic Literature.

These are little fragments from The Film Score Composer (Judah Warsky) of his Spanish writing:

Sexy skin.

Like a moulting of the skin, a necessary change. Sometimes we need a “skin scape” to stay good on the inside and filled on harmonious energy. There’s a sensuous thing when we mentally grow up, the way we look in the outside makes us attractive by the stories we carry on with.

The skinscape scarf story has lots of hidden secrets, inspired by the mirage founded on the various shapes of the mountain, a leaping dragon skin was taken to create this luxurious silk and cashmere piece of 85*165 cm.

Certainly there are times that leave us vulnerables, as if by a moment we were naked,  but then we arise, and inadvertently we’ve changed, we’ve moulted to a second skin: the skinscape scarf.

The merriest party of the year.

Christmas is getting closer.

Hell yeah!, or should we say “Heaven yeah”?!. It’s time to think in all our loved ones, and prepare us to spend a pleasant warming moment with them. And if family and friends are about to gather around, we should do something special for them.

Everyone loves parties, yes they do. Therefore i’d like to share with you some ideas you can take to have a lovely yet stylish Xmas.

First, the environment. Let’s decor everything with a theme: the white/frozen wonderland. Have we talked about the power that white has? Your place would look like a magical place. White looks always elegant and classy; don’t worry about if it will be too much white, guests will add the color to the party.

Besides the karaoke machine you’d have to order, and the Christmas carols that can be played at beginning of the party, why don’t you try hiring a violinist for two hours?, pure good music will add sparkle to the night.

The food is really important, but the dessert is our Santa Claus. It definitely has to be sweet, fat and adorable, if you were worried about “all white-decor” here the red velvet can be your best ally. There are lots of ideas of how to decor x-mas dessert and food so go cook them.. or order them.

And then… gifts! Yes we love them, you can’t control what you’ll get but you can give the best ones. Check our latest gift set for boys and girls on Polyvore and Instagram (@sefhyir) and get inspired.

Get a photo boot and have that cliche Xmas family picture. If you want it to be funny try using props, invite your niece and nephew in the morning, together you can make a DIY frame for the pictures. Also a instant picture can be very stylish and lovely, get that instant camera and have your vintage Xmas picture. Everybody will have a special photo to take to home.

After singing, eating and loving (or hating-ups!) your gift exchange, in the biggest room of you house, prepare a special cozy place with pillows and blankets on the floor and watch a x-mas movie- you can use a projector for this. Put some cookies beside the pillows and invite everyone to lay down. To add some fun, bring some cocktails, hot chocolate for the kids, and ask them to have a drink every time someone says “Christmas” in the movie.

At the end, before they go to sleep tell them to find their sock with their name on the tree with chocolate truffle or something sweet inside. Whatever comes next, doesn’t matter because so far you’ve made everything fun and lovely.

Start planning, the holiday is to spread our love to those in our heart. This time is a literal “Thanks God” it’s X-mas time ;)

URVC Shanghai. (UDance Radio Vinyl Club)

THE URVC! (UDance Radio Vinyl Club)

The fun and still über-hip nightspot in Shanghai.  What’s URVC? Hard to tell, a “must” if you really want to feel the techno house music inside. This places is a vinyl shop and coffee in the day, but as the night begins DJ start to play in the radio station while being broadcasted in the udancecn.com-Yes, Chinese people you’re right! the owner is DaveK, founder of the indie&electronic radio station UDance. And when the night has finally come you can find all DJ’s and lovers of independent techno music, dancing in the place.

Last November 27th X.L.F and Lio threw a little of Beijing’s work in the field, sharing the night with Dave K a.k.a the bossman.  Listen to some of the DJ sets played in Shanghai’s “One Night in Beijing”.

Celebrating since Day Zero.

A festival that seems to be mythical. The idea: a “maya” land that fills itself of pure techno house music talent. This is a festival that wants to make feel the jungle Mexican all the good dancing, positive vibes and music.

Whit spaces the most natural possible to make some yoga, participate in Mayan ceremonies, stargazing, swimming! and twenty four hours of music is DAY ZERO at Playa del Carmen Mexico. Daniel Lazarus,Dj and label owner of Crosstown Rebels has combined the house techno with a culture  that dates back to the prehispanic times in Latin-America, the Maya culture.

Day zero is a festival that takes the audience to a place of music and expression, to connect with the inner-self and the nature to the beat of the dancing movements. The festival has taken place in Playa del Carmen since December 2012. Combined to the confusion generated about the maya calendar, the “long count” that these people used to measure time and that apparently represented the end of a cycle and for many others announced the world-ending, Lazarus just decided to throw a party in the celebration that we’re still in this beautiful, mysterious and diverse planet. Thus, with the name of “Day Zero” (which was pointed by the mayan people to be on August 12, year 3113 b.C ), started a festival that is about to have its fourth edition on the 2016.

“We created Day Zero to commemorate the apocalypse, the end of the Mayan Calendar and now that the world is still intact we gather each year to celebrate life, friendship and love at one of the most surreal, beautiful and thrilling settings on the planet” Damian Lazarus

While the line-up and exact location in the Mexican paradise for the 2016 is still unknown, the organizing team has previously select artists like Fur Coat, Metrika, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Citizen, Ali Love, DJ Three and Acid Pauli.

Black Mirror.

The Black Mirror scarves reflect sentiment and energy… that and Luisa Casati.

If you wonder what has in common, or in which way Luisa Casati can inspire the creation of the Black Mirror scarves 1 and 2, it might be easy for you to find the answer when you look at the colors. But in the moment you realize of the yin-yang symbolism included, your mind can get confused.

The Black Mirror N.2 includes the yin-yang transformed energy circle, while the N.1 is a serie of “mirrors” that are difficult to understand what are precisely reflecting. But let’s add Casati to the design:

Elegant, eccentric and unique not only was, but is still Luisa. A muse to different designers, and inspiration for SEFHYIR in this two pieces.

Black Mirror belongs to the Night Wings collection, in which each piece is a moving canvas. This scarf is design in motion transformed in cashmere and silk. A mirror that reflects the part of us that we didn’t see before, a darker or lighter part, as the “yin" or the “yang” that we have inside. The Marchesa Casati to me, is a mysterious reflection of what she saw on her. Something that made her want to constantly transform herself and be everything she wants “….to be a living work of art”.

Passion and transformation is energy unveiled that takes part in the design of this two black and white scarves. Luisa Casati with all her extravagancies, accomplished her energy to survive on art and design.

To that end, wear the black mirror scarf the same way Casati wore snakes around her neck, and let it wrap you like it is a second skin.

The holiday gift..set.

Girls Holiday Gift Guide 2015

All i want for Christmas is you ♪… and a bunch of other stuff. Are you afraid of the coming exchange gifts?. To avoid “different kind of” surprises this time I’ve made a gift set for you. Blame it on me, you just have to share it.

Tainan ,please.

Right now i can only think about being under the Taiwanese blue-sky. And to be even more specific, if you accept to take this short trip with me, our destination would be Tainan.

In this city the tropical heat goes up to the 30ºC. The colors and lights of Tainan gives you the feeling of being in a happy little town, and it might be my idea, but seems like the blue sky spread its color in every corner.

Tainan is the oldest city of the isle and houses the Confucian Temple built in 1665, which was built during the empire of the Qing Dynasty. Also, I’m aware that the seafood is pleasing to the palate so after walking and visiting all the temples we’d rest to take fresh drinks and some local cuisine.

Sounds sunny, huh?  Color, food, temples and Chinese culture is waiting for us. Consider to spend this weekend break in Tainan, before you get frozen in the winter.

Searching for a Heart of Gold (Neil Young).

Rebel and honest.. or maybe not that rebel, he might be simply honest. Honest on his passion, honest with his music.Young has been inducted into the Hall of fame twice, where he’s described  as “one of rock and roll’s greatest songwriters and performers”.

He was born in Ontario, Canadá, but made a life in the States. In Junior High School Neil formed his first band; it was with the corresponding effort, creative encounter and music experimentation that Neil became  into “Neil Young” , for some people “the grandfather of the grunge”. The one that has created some folk-rock, country rock, hard rock and even electronic music.

The honest Neil released songs like “Keep on rocking in the free world” and “Heart of Gold”, hits that expressed his feelings and thoughts about his life incidents, like divorces, sickness and even political critics. Deep and real. Neil sings it on “Sugar Mountain”, a song that he wrote when he turned 19 years old:

Now you say you're leaving' home 'Cause you want to be alone Ain't it funny how you feel When you're finding' out it's real?

You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain.

Neil is definitely a recommendation, listen to him with “Crazy Horse” band if you want to rock the day, or Harvest Moon just before getting in the bed, to melt away:

The snow flake’s invitation.

Our eyes open, the blankets embraces us more, after winning the fight to leave the bed we look at the window and see everything has changed. The plans, the possibilities, the energy, the clothing!… everything is white now. It’s the first snowfall of the year.

The smile spreads across our faces, What’s with the snow?. December is around the corner, and the snow as his faithful friend, remind us that a phase is about to end, and other is starting.

A twist and a sigh. The white of the snow is so we can draw and color on it everything we want to do this December before saying: Happy New year!

Cashmere sweaters, fur coats, knitted hats, fun warming socks, something hot to drink and scarves. A month ago it was the autumn wind with green, orange and red colors; now the snow flakes have taken that warm palette away and ask us to color and create again..

The world of (HER.

If you didn’t sing along and dance the “Believe” hit at the end of the 90’s i really don’t know where were you.

The icon, Cher, is a talented woman with a fierce way of looking. If you want to go back to the 70’s, 80’s dancing decades you just have to look for a bit of Cher. As one of the hits from his last album says she was always “Dressed to Kill”. The lady owns a Grammy, three Golden Globes, an Emmy and an Oscar award, plus she was awarded by the Cannes Film Festival for Best Actress.

Yes, this a real woman.

Cher found a life in the entertainment industry almost exactly when she met his first husband “Sonny”. Salvatore Bonno better known as “Sonny” was his singer partner who, not so many years after that, started to produced her. Later the couple would face a financial hard phase, but they got a second chance with a TV Show by the CBS called “Sonny & Cher” which came to be a success thanks to the chemistry shared on the screen..The woman had a debut on Broadway and after this breakthrough moved to the big screen hitting the target with Mask, the Witches of Eastwick and Moonstruck.          

From “I got you Babe” to “You haven’t seen the last of me” and awards made with the films Cher’s been name the Goddess of Pop. She has use her voice to remember us this’s a woman’s world, and believe her, it is and it has a Goddess.

A culture of music and hope.

We all have a rough idea of the afro culture; it was to be expected that one of the vastest countries of the world made us turn around to see, hear and feel what makes them unique: their roots.

While the african culture is full of rituals, music, symbols and color, this isn’t only the thing that makes their culture strong, but their virtues. African culture is about being, is the dance they love to do, and is done in their actions. It seems that their culture tells them where they’re from and more important where they are going.

Africa has about 54 countries and other independent territories; Though it’d seem imposible, let’s try to have a quick ride. If we had the chance to come into a Congolese family’s home we’d probably find “Fufu” served in their kitchen’s table. The “Fufu” is a very popular dish and it’s made from cassava. They mostly prepare their food with cassava, maize or plantain.

I’m sure you know afro culture is much about music and dance. If you get closer to their dancing styles, you’d see its like helping yourself to liberate mind and body. Sometimes they wear masks or costumes that hide their faces so they can reach more honest movements when dancing. Dancing for them is like an intern party that’s to be shared with family and friends, and they start dancing since childhood.

Of course what helps to get loose the body is the music. Some instruments are handmade. One of the most characteristics instruments is the balafon, which is a xylophone made of wood. The sound that can be produced is lively and sparkling as the kid’s dance. As for other arts, african craftsmanship has some characteristic design patterns …

Afro culture is like a conversation full of diversity and strength. The history and political issues has influence them to spread around, and so, this culture has grown: Afrocaribbeans, afrolatins and more.

Though i shared you a quick and vague walkthrough Afro culture’s origins, what this culture is telling the world is that no matter what their people have faced there’s still hope and life, images help to realize.
