Is Scott or Virgil seeing anyone?
"Oh! Wow! Okay , personal question without even getting to know me first," Selene laughed as she read the question out loud.
Leaning back in her chair, she looks over her shoulder around the lounge, checking to see which boys are lurking around, because there is always at least one somewhere in hearing distance.
She spots her hubby up on the second floor but he wasn't a danger to her, no, it was Gordon, laying on the couch with his headphones on. Sure, he looked like he was vibin' to some tunes, but he'd been known to fake that for gossip gathering purposes.
Best to stick to somewhere in the middle.
"Are Scott or Virgil seeing anyone?" she repeats, reading the question again, her fingers hovering over the button to dictate her answer.
"No," Gordon answered before she could even think of what to say. "Who'd want them when I'm here looking this buff?" He gestured down to his body with a sweeping hand. "Admit it, I'm the best."
"She's married to me," John pointed out, not looking up from his book.
"That's her problem, she should have chosen better."
Selene rolled her eyes. "Will you both be quiet? I'm answering fan mail here and if people write in to us they deserve a real answer. Besides, I'm doing you a favour, if I didn't answer they would stay ignored for months... Do you guys even know how to log in?"
John raised a hand. "I do, but I don't do it very often."
Gordon winced. "I did, but I keep forgetting my log in."
"Hence why I'm doing it for you! Now shhhh."
Gordon mimed zipping his lips and John held up his book in silent promise. Good. They might be quiet for all of two seconds.
She pressed her thumb on the microphone button. "Virgil is a secretive boy, but also very tired."
"That's true," Virgil said, choosing that second to wander into the lounge from the kitchen, a big mug of coffee in his hand.
Selene eeeped and lifted her thumb to cut the record. Virgil's eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"What were you doing? And why were you talking about me?"
Selene, recovering quickly, snagged his hand as he walked past and dragged him down next to her. "I'm answering questions on your love life."
"My love life?" Virgil groaned. "Why?"
"Because the world demands answers!" Selene held her phone up under his chin and pressed the button like she was interviewing him. "Are you seeing anyone?"
"This is so embarrassing," Virgil complained, batting her phone away from his chin. "Let me drink my coffee in peace!"
"How long have you known her?" John asked from his spot of safety. "And how many times has she let us do anything in peace?"
Virgil snorted out a laugh at the same time as Gordon.
"Hey!" Selene protested. "I'll have you know I'm a freaking delight! One you were stupid enough to marry, Mr!"
Virgil sighed, knowing it was useless to keep putting it off. "No I'm not seeing anyone but the coffee pot and my bed, and I don't get to spend as much time with them as I would like."
"What about Scott?"
"That would be weird," Virgil joked, sipping at his black as tar coffee.
"Why do I even bother with you idiots?"
With perfect synchronization, all three shrugged.
"I'm gonna go find Scott," Selene decided, using Virgil's knee to lever herself up off the couch.
Finding Scott was a little misleading, since all she did was stick her head out into the stairway beyond the lounge and yell.
"Scott!"
"What?" he yelled back from somewhere near the kitchen.
"Are you seeing anyone?"
"Is this a trick question? Is there another ghost?"
Gordon sniggered behind her but she ignored him, answering Scott as she jogged down the stairs, "No, no ghosts. I mean like are you dating anyone?"
Laughter was her answer, laughter which started when she was three steps down and continued until she was perched on a kitchen stool with a can of coke. "Are you done?"
"Sorry," Scott said, wiping his eyes. "I needed that."
"All I asked was if you were dating anyone."
"You've seen our schedule, why even ask?" he pointed out, offering her half a slice of the toast on his plate.
"Because I'm answering fan questions again." She bit down on a corner of buttery bready goodness.
"Well, my answer is still the same. Maybe when I have time to sleep I'll have time to date."
"That's what Virg said."
Scott blinked down at his plate. "That's sad."
"Yep," Selene agreed, patting his hand. "But hey, at least you know there are fans out there that would snap you up in a heartbeat."
"True, but Dad would call that a security risk."
"It's your fault for being so good looking that everyone wants you."
Scott grinned as he stole her coke can and took a swig that must have consumed half its contents. "We all have our faults."
"Modesty is not one of them. I'll be diplomatic." She touched her thumb to the microphone button to reply to the question. "Not currently, they prefer to concentrate their efforts on saving people. Maybe, when the world isn't full of idiots that get themselves into trouble on a daily basis, they'll be able to take a break and get off the island."
