slip ups
Self love is a complete journey. There is so much we have to relearn and discover about ourselves, it's okay to have a few down days. Learning that love for our own beauty is hard, there's challenges at every corner. The only direction from those bad days is up, so don't let a small mess up drag you down.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and we jut have to learn to behold ourselves. Keep your head up, try and smile at your reflection, take some deep breaths and pick up where you left off. There's so much power in you and letting bad days control you isn't the answer.
Admitting to your own faults can hurt but a day of self doubt and sadness will only push yourself to a higher level of love. Disregard those little flaws and see yourself as a whole. An entire human. Capable of astounding, ground breaking things. There isn't a single person in this world worthy of tearing you down.
One day the pain will cease, you will look in that bathroom mirror and smile. You'll take that extra slice of cake, that 2nd helping, you won't feel ashamed to exist. You will live life freely and without regrets.
To encourage those aching parts of your heart try simply tasks like self-care days, where you simply follow your desires. Lay in bed till 3 pm, dance to the sound of your own music, braid your hair, eat takeout, do some face masks, movie binge, do whatever it is you do to feel whole and happy for even just a moment.
you are powerful
Good morning lovelies. I know sometimes it's a struggle to want to get up and feel motivated to even live. Let's try to build up from there. Try to sit up, rub your eyes and take a good look around you. Look at everything the world has offered you. Heck, you're still here, even your body loves you. Even the smallest of tasks may feel monumental and that is perfectly fine! How about we try and make our beds, even just grabbing a water and a string cheese or crackers. Anything to get your beautiful self up and ready to take on whatever your day may look like. You are capable of accomplishing so much, no matter how long it may take.
It's often hard to look in the mirror or brush our hair, take showers, whatever it is that we've neglected while being in our mental pits. But I promise there is always another day, another shot at feeling even the tiniest bit better. Don't let the "can't"'s and the "won't"'s rule your life. Do what you can do & what makes you feel comfortable! Pushing yourself day to day is exhausting so don't feel like a bad person for needing a rest, naps are healthy and help revitalize that overworking brain!
Just look at how far you've come in life! Whatever your journey has been, you are here and alive! That is more than a lot of people are able to say sadly. You can overcome this and you are worth every good thing this world has to offer. So remember, take everything one step at a time. It's okay to take a break but you are never failing, just taking a bit to recharge before trying again.
Here's to the plus size baddies...
Here's me, double chin, chubby arm, "chonky" fingers, and thick nose. I may not be appealing to everyone in the world but I am me and that's all that matters. Each and every single person is unique and perfect in their own right. You may have stretch marks, cellulite, extra jiggle, "bat-wings", double chins; but you are human! All those beautiful traits you possess are what makes you, well, you! Why not embrace each curve, each mark, each and every little bump on your body? You may feel like you don't deserve that love and appreciation, but you do deserve it. There isn't a single person quite like you. You wouldn't wish ill on a friend so why would you on yourself? So let's start loving ourselves. Glance a little in the mirror, trace your lines and marks, really take in you!
what have you got to lose?
Go ahead, look into your camera roll, your snapchat memories, your gallery. Look at all those pictures, random memes, videos, clips, snapshots, everything you have. Focus on those few pictures you may have of yourself. All covered in filters, smoothing out your skin, decreasing your pores, erasing lines, adding a curve to your jaw.
Deleting you.
Now go back into that camera app. See yourself as the bare, vulnerable human we all are. You are you. There is no one in this world exactly like you. Unique, beautiful, powerful. Don't seek out the filters, the covers, anything that masks the natural glow you hold. Enhancements are lovely, things that bring out everything already there. Shy away from the sheaths of social media. Ones blocking your true, raw, beautiful being.
Remember, there is no other you quite like you. So what do you have to lose? Post that unfiltered selfie, share all those "cringe" natural photos, let the world know the real you. The worst that could happen is someone doesn't like what they see. And what can we say to that? They aren't even worth your time. You are the epitome of perfection. Only those with love for you and decency towards you are worth the mental work. Don't waste yourself to the people not desiring you in their lives.
embrace what you have
Falling in love with yourself is hard; I would know. Simply looking in the mirror some days feels like a death wish, but there is more to life than loathing the very vessel that carries you through the trials and successes of the world. We have so much more to offer in potential when the pain of hate is gone from our minds.
It's as simple as humming to yourself while you're doing daily chores, or focusing a little more one day on skincare, or even just taking that extra minute in the morning to take a deep breath.
Falling in love with yourself takes time, it's okay to have slip ups, bad days, or even just days you don't look in the mirror or anywhere near a camera. Trying is what counts. Try to glance in that mirror, post a lower angle picture, take chances to be happy.
A good first step to start your beautiful process into self-love is simply this; try. Dare to be the one person checking themselves out in windows or mirrors, dance a little more, laugh more, engage in life in a way you haven't since childhood. Experience, develop, live. Take your days by the reigns and own yourself. Love comes in waves and sometimes those tides will be low but never give up on yourself. Learn your worth and wear it like a medal of honor.
You are beautiful, loved, and needed in this world. Don't let anything or anyone (including yourself) tell you different!
