gif request meme: jedirem requested - MCU + 2. Favourite Hero ↳ Tony Stark/Iron Man
You experience things and then they’re over and you still can’t explain them. Gods, aliens, other dimensions? I’m just a man in a can.
❝Yes—no! Just… I’m hungry, aren’t you?❞ She looked away and sighed, shaking her head at her inability to act cool.
❝I’m fine. Let’s just get some food and gas and go. We’re behind schedule.❞ she adds, smiling at him reassuringly. She was just overthinking that whole 'I want you’ part. Not like it made her heart race every time it repeated in her head over and over again. No, that was ridiculous!
"Okay," he nods, dropping the subject any further. "Go get food, I'll pump the gas, then we get going, alright?"
He stepped out of the car and peered his head back in the window. "I'll take a cheeseburger and a side of fries."

He moved aside and she finally got a good look. It was a suit. She almost smiled at the predictability, and damn Potts, you really should have seen this coming a lot sooner. But her heart fell slightly. They hadn’t really spoken about the clean slate protocol since the night he’d initiated it and she’d watched the last five years’ work explode above them in a haunting but poignant display of his devotion to her. She knew in her heart that he’d meant to start over someday, but with far less obsession than before. Then he’d lost himself in treating her Extremis, and then he’d decided to have the surgery to remove the shrapnel, and life had just moved too quickly for them to talk about it. He was Iron Man, there was no way of ever getting around it. It was what made him the most happy—well, aside from her. And Pepper wasn’t the type to give him some sort of ridiculous ultimatum and make him choose between the two of them. But she worried. She’d worried about him in the past and even now without the arc reactor she still worried about him. And now he was going to put on the suit again? ”You’ve missed it, haven’t you.” It was more of a statement than a question. She watched the diagram of the suit spin slowly on the holographic display, before glancing over at him with her peripheral vision.
He kept his eyes on her face to watch any infliction that her knowing what he had been working on would cause. Though her poker face was near professional, he saw the slight way that her eyes dropped in disappointment. He wanted to apologize, or maybe try to cover it up somehow, but in some way he wasn't really sorry. The suits had become his entire life in the last few years, even if he had at some point wanted to give it all up, it wasn't easy to give it all up at once.
Besides, it was just work. By the time anything was ready enough for flight test he would have definitely come clean. But until that time came it was just a few hours a week in the workshop. No harm done, right?
"I really have," he replied quietly. After a second, he swiped his hand across the 3D holographic display to get rid of the suit image. "I haven't been down here long," he paused, thinking of a way to explain himself. "I just couldn't sleep and it was the only thing I could do to calm the restlessness."
❝Easy there, hot rod. On your right. I’m just going to… snacks,❞ she says as she attempts a rather quick exit.
The car stops but he sits in his seat a few more seconds. "Did I say something wrong?" he questions aloud.
holding out for a sweet surrender | tony & nat
Natasha’s own smile seemed smug, seeing the satisfaction on his face. He had to be satisfied, otherwise she wasn’t doing her job and neither was the agency. ❝My name is Natasha Romanoff, at your service,❞ she said, extending her hand in greeting with the most alluring of smiles, eyes looking confidently into his.
The lobby was much quieter from where the party was, the muffled music and commotion, a good sign that everyone was having a good time. And she expected no less. ❝I must say, you’re a lot more handsome up close,❞ she said as she inched a little closer, all smiles but still keeping a respective distance between them until she was told otherwise.
❝Your friends were generous to ask for my services for the entire evening. So, tell me, Mr. Stark. What would you like to do first?❞ she asked curiously as she looked up at him. Her services varied based on what the client wanted. Sexual favors cost extra but most of the time, she was just eye candy for powerful men. Because powerful men loved beautiful women and sometimes, women like Natasha didn’t mind being flaunted and doted so long as they could afford her. She was curious as to what this man had in mind.
As if their meeting didn't depend solely on money, he reached for her outstretched hand and pulled it up to press his lips to the back of her hand. "It's a pleasure, Natasha." He held her hand in his just a moment longer before dropping it from his grasp. Meeting her out in the lobby was on purpose, so she could be seen with him in the party as his date.
He gave a light chuckle at her compliment. It wasn't that Tony wasn't more handsome up close, but he didn't anticipate pleasantries to be apart of the deal. "Flattery will get you everywhere, Romanoff," he smiled at her and reached for her hand again, this time for gently pull her to his side. "You're not so bad yourself," he quirked a brow, taking a slight glance at her cleavage that seemed to overflow from the dress she wore.
"I thought we would make a quick appearance at the party," he nodded toward the source of the music, "Then head upstairs." With that last comment he reached in his pocket to flash the room key for the suite he had bought for the night. "How does that sound to you?"
❝You’re going to miss the exit.❞
"No--" He swerves the car, just barely making the exit. "See? We made it. Turn right now?"
”Excellent. I hereby
challenge you to take my hand.”
"Did you just propose to me, Loki?"
That I did know.
Is there anything about me you don't know?
No. I have to do that at night now, when Mason’s sleeping. And — you smell like your workshop. So absolutely.
You don't smell bad though but it's alright. We'll still be gross enough for dinner.
❝Oh, so that’s why you brought me along? C’mon, you’re Tony Stark. You can have your pleasure with anyone you want. Won’t bother me.❞
"That's not the only reason. You're right but-- --I want you."
