i think i interpret the robins and batfam as a whole as bruce choosing to oversee individuals who would’ve turned to vigilantism on their own one way or another - dick’s want to avenge his parents, jason’s hatred of abuses of power, tim’s recognition that batman alone isn’t enough/right, cass literally starting as her own batman, etc etc etc. like yes bruce is their “trusted adult” and de factos to all these orphans’ parental figure but they are wayyy to toxic to be a family in the way a lot of ppl online see them.

tldr maybe the batfamily descriptor works better when using the special description of the word family

i’ve been drawing for a couple years now but that golden son poster i did a little over a year ago was actually my first ever attempt at fully rendering a piece, before i’d just stick to sketching/lineart with some flats. i’ve only been motivated to keep working on these posters bc of this fanbase so it’s all love here 😸

how do we get such peak writing and such ass literally pages apart. the second panel makes sense if it’s bruce’s opinion at the time and not supposed to be the audience’s or the writer’s and just his own little flaw but i get the feeling that’s not the case..
