How the dorm leaders would react to you living with Rollo, Fellow, and Skully
Based on this post !!
no Swing because I don't like him /hj
maybe he does live with you but no one reacts to him because they don't know he's there LOL. basement dweller vibes and all
RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS
He knows you've been living as the only human in Ramshackle dorm since you got here, and your housemates are Grim and the ghosts in your dorm.
He's fairly familiar with Rollo as a deeply serious individual who is also the student council president of Noble Bell College. He feels a sense of relief that someone reliable is there with you.
On the other hand... Fellow.
Fellow wouldn't even know Riddle is a person with authority from how small and frail-looking he was, if he isn't immediately introduced as a dorm leader, he would treat him like a kid.
After learning that fact, he would put on a front that makes him look like a responsible individual! As the eldest living person in Ramshackle, he has to "look after the younglings. ♫"
Riddle only somehow trusts him because he used his unique magic to charm him, but he can't shake off the feeling that Fellow is a bit of a geezer...
But then again, he's the big brother of a little boy named Guidel. Surely someone looking after a child that age could also be trusted with college-aged students?
Only knowing Fellow and Guidel on the surface, he wouldn't know that Rollo was actually the responsible one between you all.
He can't help but get a familiar feeling when he visits Ramshackle and see the ghost of a boy named Skully. Not because it's the spirit of the famous King of Halloween, but also because he might've met him somewhere before? What a silly feeling.
Riddle finds that the dorm has become much more lively with the addition of new members, even if they're lodging with you temporarily. He's briefly reminded of his own dorm.
Despite Rollo, Fellow, and Skully being much older than you, you're still the prefect. He expects you to be a proper leader of the group.
LEONA KINGSCHOLAR
He has no clue who Rollo is, and he's honestly not interested in learning. It's written all over his face and demeanor that he's a stuck-up individual. Leona doesn't seem to be in a mood to be nitpicked (he never is) over his existence starting with the way he wears his school uniform.
I don't think they would ever learn about each other's mutual dislike for Malleus given they're actively avoiding each other, adding the fact they don't like him for very different reasons that would clash with the other.
Fellow? Seriously?
Oh, this is golden, he thinks. What on earth could this human trafficking fox punk be doing in NRC? In Ramshackle dorm with you, no less?
Whatever the reasons are, he already knows Fellow is considerably nerfed and has no power over anyone here. The worst he could do is be annoying, honestly.
Fellow would learn he nearly struck gold with a prince, but that's in the past. The present matters much more! And in the present, he's trying not to get his shit rocked by anyone from Leona's dorm if they knew what he did.
Remember, this man hates being around children. Despite the fact that Leona doesn't get excited over little ones, he doesn't seem to mind Guidel. Could it be because of the fact he can't speak or make much noise?
Leona thinks Guidel must be excited to be in Night Raven College and get to learn with the big boys. He's sure that guy Fellow can defend him just fine if the students get too rowdy around him. Not his problem, after all.
Like Riddle, he feels something familiar when he sees the new Ramshackle ghost, Skully. He'll just chalk it up to the fact that he saw his portrait and won't think too deeply into it.
A weird clean freak, a fox and a cat, and a ghost? Leona thinks you and Grim are living it up in Ramshackle with the new members.
If you ask him how to handle being a prefect though, he'll just tell you their problems aren't yours. Not that the NRC guys have always put their problems on your plate even before the new members or anything.
AZUL ASHENGROTTO
Oh? Rollo is living with you? He laughs to himself a little bit. A student exchange program or a fall from grace? No matter.
They're surprisingly cordial with one another despite what happened, so you suppose it's them putting the past behind. They talk about academics, leadership, and other things.
Azul invites Rollo to Mostro Lounge after hearing he likes cafes. You offer to accompany them that day with Grim.
Unfortunately, it was Floyd's shift that day. You can guess what happened.
Azul heard about you and some others getting into an incident with Fellow. Floyd said he wasn't in the mood to tell him while Jade told him to come and meet him himself so he could form his own opinion.
You'd think they would get along because of their similarities, but the truth is that they don't seem to like each other already. Azul can tell from the get-go that Fellow is a bit of a sleaze while Fellow thinks Azul is a bit pretentious. Not only is he a successful businessman as as a student, but he's also an excellent mage. A bit of jealousy there.
They're still friendly with one another on the surface, though.
He's surprised about there being a child on campus. Guidel seems to like Azul because he reminds him a little bit of his older brother.
Azul puts on a wonderful front around the little boy. You don't know whether or not he's actually fond of children. You do remember somehow that the Leech twins are a genuinely friendly sort... And then also remember that they're the ones who met Fellow.
That boy is getting taken from his brother. It would be cute to imagine Guidel in an Octavinelle uniform though.
Azul has heard of the ghosts living in Ramshackle dorm from you. Likewise, the ghosts know of him. The student who was planning to drive them out when he was planning to turn your dorm into a second location for the lounge! He notices Skully, the ghost who has more of his appearance as a human than the rest.
He wonders why this ghost acts like they've met before... That aside, a business with the spirit of the King of Halloween sounds promising.
Azul knows what it's like to live with such a lively, chaotic bunch. He wishes you the best, and that if you need anything, he's always there for you. Ish.
KALIM AL-ASIM
Ramshackle has new members? Why, this only calls for a celebration! Which Jamil will be forced to prepare.
Kalim heard many good things about Rollo... that the others lied to him about. When it came to the optimistic leader of Scarabia, the cast of students who visited Noble Bell College never had the time or energy to sit down and explain that Rollo, to put it simply, was an asshole.
While everyone kept Kalim ignorant for their convenience, you simply didn't have the heart to tell him to maintain a good impression. Now that Kalim's dragging Rollo around, now it's impossible to let him know about the incident.
Rollo is simply exasperated with Kalim. He lives in a world that he's never witnessed for himself. What with a vast treasury, lavish feasts every now and then, and a whole menagerie of animals in his dorm. It's beyond him.
Kalim tells him he's glad that you have a new dorm member. It makes life more lively to have people around oneself, after all! You and Grim being an iconic, tight-knit duo means Rollo and the others must be super close with you as well.
Not that the Headmaster dumped everyone in Ramshackle to make things easier for him or anything.
Oh, Fellow is with you! The party wouldn't be complete without him.
Despite what happened, him being in NRC must mean he's fully committed to turning his life around. That's a wonderful thing that is truly worth celebrating for!
Fellow initially had his pride to hold onto, but he couldn't say no to the gifts (that he will sell) and the food once he was presented with them. All he has to do is keep avoiding the death glares from Jamil.
Kalim dearly missed Guidel, too! Someone this young is deserving of a safe place to grow and learn. Though you think to yourself that anywhere is better than NRC...
Kalim, who has tons of younger siblings, knows exactly how to make Guidel happy. He walks with him around Scarabia and the campus whenever he has the chance. Much to Fellow's stress, not wanting to lose Guidel or make the boy thing that there's other, better older brothers. Rest assured, Giddy knows who his #1 is.
There's no way he's scared of ghosts, especially the ones as friendly living in your dorm. They gotta be honorary Ramshackle members, most especially the ones that go by Skully!
He gets along with him so well, it's a shame he can't enter the dorms.
All in all, Kalim is happy for you and Ramshackle. As a fellow prefect, he wishes you the absolute best!
VIL SCHOENHEIT
IDIA SHROUD
I'm not going to lie I don't know what he'd do. He doesn't go outside. How is he going to find out there are people living in Ramshackle other than Ortho telling him?
Rollo? Eeh, good luck with him. He's your problem now.
Rollo would come and confront Idia himself. How was he elected a housewarden exactly? How shameful. You have to accompany Rollo when he looks for the recluse to prevent anything from happening...
Fellow and Guidel? Ortho put in a good word as to not worry his brother.
Fellow admits he's interested in learning more about Ortho's big brother. He must be an all-around genius to create something as detailed and complicated as Ortho's frame. Guidel would love to meet him, too! He and Ortho relate to having big brothers.
Skully? The King of Halloween?! ...Cool.
The truth that Skully has been hiding is the fact that he knows and remembers everything that happened in Halloween Town. He found out eventually that no one shares the same sentiments. It would be hard to believe, of course. He's just glad to see all of his friends again, who introduced to him the joy of Halloween. He's a bit saddened Idia won't come by your dorm.
"Yeah, happy for you I guess, or sad. Either way, wish you the best."
MALLEUS DRACONIA
What an interesting bunch.
He must admit that he misses when Ramshackle was dark and quiet for his nightly escapades. However, he knows how much it means to you to be surrounded by friends, the people you care about, when he sees the smile on your face. He hopes you know your happiness matters over his in this context.
Oh, Rollo... He's in your domain now, so there's nothing to worry about. You might think that Malleus would be protective over you, but he has quite some faith in the situation.
He knows Rollo would never mistreat you, but he sincerely hopes that he wouldn't cause trouble for you to clean up when it comes to the other members in your dorm.
It's all for your sake when they do come across each other. He doesn't dwell too much on the reason of why Rollo has moved in with you, just that he's here in general.
You know that Malleus being friendly with Rollo despite what he's done is solely to get under his skin. What could he possibly be smiling about? Is he scheming something? Rollo thinks all of your friends in this school are repulsive, and Malleus is the worst one yet.
Lilia told Malleus that Fellow is a rather interesting individual. A good performer and quite a businessman. This is to protect him, after all. If Malleus knew that Fellow nearly kidnapped Lilia, there would be nothing left of the fox.
Fellow is. deeply nervous around Malleus... His draconic fae lineage and his title as one of the strongest mages in Twisted Wonderland is no joke. He really would be literally COOKED if he messed up and angered him. Just sweet talk is good for now, no weird stuff!
In the end, Malleus is indeed amused by Fellow. He has no reason to cast judgement on someone he doesn't know or has personally wronged him (not that he knows, of course.)
Guidel is more perceptive than most, so he immediately straightens up around Malleus as well. Although he isn't as skilled at Fellow when it comes to lying. If he had the chance or if it wasn't so rude, he'd immediately just run and hide...
The Ramshackle ghosts have always hid from Malleus whenever he was around, but Skully was different. He had always remembered Malleus being the most powerful of the bunch, as well as the one Sebek respected the most. The fact that his appearance as a ghost is his younger self truly takes him back to that time.
Malleus is interested in this gentleman ghost of the late King of Halloween. They talk about a lot of things. You find it nice to see them get along over things that are antique to you.
He imparts some words to your members to always look after one another and your dorm building. You find yourself staring too long as he departs from Ramshackle, while everyone around you except for Skully sighs in relief.

Hello! Could I request Rollo receiving homemade chocolates for Valentine's Day? Since, Valentine's Day is coming up, why not spoil him?
this was full when I left the house, I swear
Rollo Flamme x reader
After meeting with him last New Year's, the prefect leaves campus once more for another special day.
sorry to this anon from 2023 do you know that I love you sincerely
“Again, prefect? Must you really return to Noble Bell College all by yourself again? I believe it is the perfect season to bring your friends with you this time!”
You ignore the Headmaster's suggestion, insisting that it is still best that you meet Rollo once again alone. It would be much more peaceful that way and prevent conflict between your friends and the student council president of Noble Bell College. Not only that... There is a different kind of holiday compared to the festival you first met him at, a special day for you to come by Fleur City once again.
You made sure to let Rollo know beforehand. As much as it would be nice to surprise him, you didn’t want to make a dent in his schedule, and you had to plan a time and place together. Unlike you and your friends who used Magicam, Rollo’s method of communication was via email. You knew he was a bit of a fossil because, apparently he greatly preferred pen and paper, so this is the furthest he could go for your sake. Two weeks before Valentines’ Day, you let him know ahead of your planned visit to give him enough time to reply to you. He would take a few days to send you back an email, which you assume he’s typing in their school’s library, but at the very least, he was straight to the point with these things. NBC doesn't normally allow outsiders past their gates unless there is an event, and Rollo didn't wish to play favorites with you. Thus, you were scheduled to meet outside the north gate of the campus.
You’re set to leave on the weekend after Valentine’s Day, as it’s the closest day that you’re both free. On the day itself, you made sure to entertain your close companions at Night Raven College and give them adequate attention and love. That way, when anyone finds out you left, hopefully, they won't fuss about wanting more. Well, you have your reasons for never telling anyone each time you go back to Noble Bell.
"I never wanna see that Rollo guy ever again, even if the food in that city was super tasty!" yapped Grim once upon a time. The things your other companions say aren’t fully pleasant either. You don’t know what they would do to you (or him) if they found out you were meeting Rollo in secret. Honestly, the thought makes you a bit giddy, like this whole thing was forbidden love. It’s just the perfect bloodrush, isn’t it?
Thinking about how you’re taking the next step in your bond with Rollo, you hold your homemade box of chocolates closer to your chest. There’s no mistaking it that he has some feelings for you. Your rational side tries to tell you that he only singles you out because you weren’t blessed with magic, but that doesn’t explain everything else. You always catch his eyes staring too long, the way he holds back from letting his touch overstay its welcome on your form, and the way his blush always stands out strongly on the surface of his ghostly pale skin when you tease him that his celestial-patterned handkerchief can’t hide.
You sincerely hope he would accept your feelings, because on Floyd Leech’s soul there’s no way he doesn’t like you back in any way.
The first step was already done. Your gift had to suit his tastes perfectly; it had to say you know in your heart what his preferences are. Ever since you ended up in Night Raven College, there have been a lot of things about your school friends that tell you what sort of gifts they would like. More specifically, how they liked their chocolates. Ace and Deuce, for example, always ate candy bars filled with nuts, nougat, and caramel during class, so that one is pretty obvious. On the other hand, sophisticated types like Azul and Vil would probably enjoy rich, homemade dark chocolate with healthy nuts and dried fruits.
When it came to Rollo, you remember him explicitly saying he didn’t like anything in excess. That definitely means no toppings or fillings. You just couldn’t gauge at first if he would prefer dark, milk, or white chocolate. You also recall that he loves drinking coffee, café au lait in particular. All this in mind, you made an assorted box of bite-sized chocolates with all three types, including mocha. “This is it,” you thought to yourself. You neatly arranged the pieces then gazed in awe at your gift.
The first step was done, the next was stepping into the Dark Mirror.
As you make your way through Fleur City, you notice that despite the lack of vibrant festival decorations, the city still retains its unique charm. The streets are quiet and lined with quaint storefronts, local cafes, and bakeries with freshly baked pastries. The scent of fresh-cut flowers lingers in the air, both thanks to the romantic season and the many flower shops around that granted the city its namesake, creating a comforting aura within the city streets. The weather is crisp, hinting at the onset of spring. Children dart about, playing tag between the buildings, while the sun casts a soft glow over the whole scene.
Standing at the northern gate of Noble Bell College, you gaze at the school. The main building and the grand tower that houses the Bell of Salvation stand tall against the backdrop of the sky, its facade elegant and imposing, a testament to the long history of the school. The college grounds are surrounded by carefully tended lawns and neatly pruned trees, while the air carries the familiar scent of the nearby flower fields. A few students walk by, immersed in conversations about their classes and assignments despite it being the weekend. They may not be in uniforms, but they are still dressed prim and proper. You can't help but notice the distinct atmosphere of discipline that pervades the campus, which is extremely absent in Night Raven College. The sound of birdsong drifts through the air, accompanied by the chatter of students.
He exits the main building with brisk, measured steps and his gaze fixed straight ahead. “Student council president!” The nearby students greeted. Upon hearing his schoolmates respectfully call him, he pauses momentarily, nodding in acknowledgment before continuing along the path towards the gate. You hear it creak and swing to the side, allowing the one you’re seeking out to pass through. Rollo steps outside of his campus, having shed the usual sharp edges of his student council uniform. He's donned casual clothes that still exude an air of conservatism: a black coat over a high-collared, neatly ironed white button-down shirt tucked into grey trousers. His attire accentuates the natural grace and lithe build beneath, and despite the relaxed look, his pale green eyes remain as sharp and focused as ever.
That is, until he takes in the sight of you obediently waiting for you in the exact time and place you both agreed to. His eyes soften, and a slight smile tugs at the corners of his lips. He doesn’t feel the need to hide his joy behind his usual poker face as he felt there was nothing to hide from you. Not now, at least.
"Hello, Rollo," you greet shyly, hands behind your back, a box of chocolates in hand. You’re dressed casually, though you did try to match the aesthetic of Fleur City. You can see it in his expression too as he looks over your attire with quiet approval. The way you subtly incorporated Fleur City's soft hues and floral motifs into your outfit today doesn't escape his notice. He returns your shy hello with a slight nod. “You're punctual as usual,” he remarks. “Good.” Of course, you would always try to be within his good graces by being on time.
He clears his throat, folding his arms neatly across his chest, which was a feeble attempt to mask his anticipation. “I assume you didn't summon me here just to admire the scenery?” The question comes out sharper than intended, and he quickly amends, “...Not that I'd protest if that were the case.” A rare admission, softened further by the way his fingers tap lightly against his elbow.
You fidget slightly with the box of chocolates held behind your back. "Wait, let me hear it. Why do you think I asked you to meet up on this particular day?"
Rollo's expression flickers with something between exasperation and flustered realization before settling into a practiced neutral mask. His hand rises to hold his handkerchief out of habit, though he doesn’t cover his mouth this time. “...An arbitrary choice of date, surely," he mutters, pointedly avoiding direct eye contact. “Why, indeed? Could it have anything to do with the fact that it has been two days since the fourteenth?” His fingers twitch slightly when he sees how you’re unable to control the grin stretching across your face. “Do you have anything against that?” You smile as softly as you can.
“Allow me to remind you that such frivolous traditions hold little practical merit,” he speaks with factuality, as if he were above the practice. You suppose there’s some truth to it with how heavily commercialized Valentine’s Day is, but isn’t it the most perfect day to show your appreciation to the ones you hold dear? Rollo continues to speak while staring straight into your eyes to get his point across. “I do not particularly care for such trivialities, usually.”
“Ah, I guess I’ll go home then.”
“Pardon?” The word leaves his mouth like a reflex, the suddenness of your declaration startling him out of his brooding. You’ve achieved a level of closeness with Rollo where you can be a little obtuse and difficult to deal with because you know he’ll always try to pull you back to where he wants you. For a moment, he's uncharacteristically at a loss for words. His eyes widen just the slightest, knowing to himself he dismissed your advances a bit too firmly. Then he recovers quickly, forcing a scoff of nonchalance that sounds more like the hiss of a cornered feline. “Don't be ridiculous. You can't just leave.”
“So you’re willing to hear me out, Rollo?” You look up at him with curious eyes. The street was hardly the appropriate place for an intimate discussion. After a moment more of stubborn hesitation, he relents with a sigh. “Follow me,” he mutters, gesturing towards somewhere more private that you two could go to. With brisk strides, Rollo leads you away from the main street, navigating the streets of Fleur City with the ease of someone intimately familiar with the area. As you make your way through the winding alleys, you eventually reach a set of stone steps that lead down to a secluded area beneath the bridges. The sound of the nearby river's flowing water fills the air, creating a soothing backdrop to the otherwise quiet surroundings. Here, concealed slightly from sight, you find refuge in the shadows, shielded from the hustle and bustle of the street above.
You look around where you’ve ended up, somewhere secluded for just the two of you. “Ah, you know, Rollo, you ended up making this way more romantic than I originally could.” A choked noise escapes him as your comment registers. He tries to maintain his usual aloofness, but the faint tint of pink that floods his cheeks betrays him. Clearing his throat, he crosses his arms, fixing you with a glare that lacks any real bite. “Nonsense, this is just a convenient location for privacy.”
His eyes narrow slightly as they look down on you, but you can feel the heat emanating from his face no matter what. “You’re a dear friend of mine, so whatever you wish to tell me, and how you intend to spend our time together... I want to be able to hear your words without any disturbance.”
"Oh..." You look down, and you feel that you’re beginning to blush yourself. You hold on tightly to the box of chocolates as you slightly sway side to side, waiting for a better opportunity to hand your gift to Rollo. He watches the way your gaze dips away, the subtle shift in your demeanor not lost on him. He knows you're holding back something, and it makes his curiosity flare. His eyes flicker towards your hands behind your back, then back up to your face that was steadily heating up.
He's tempted to comment on it, to ask what you're hiding, but something in your expression tells him to wait. So he does, leaning slightly against the cool stone wall of the bridge, his gaze watchful and calculating but tinged with a hint of anticipation.
“What if, hypothetically, I got you something for V-day?” Rollo’s breath hitches in his throat, the question sending a jolt through his usually composed exterior. The flush that had just started to recede from his cheeks now returns in full force, creeping up the back of his neck and staining the tips of his ears. He tries to maintain his neutral expression, to not appear too affected by your question, but the quickening of his heart betrays him. His fingers twitch involuntarily against the stone wall, betraying their owner's sudden unease.
"Something for me?" He manages, voice slightly strained. “Yeah, would you be mad at me?” You continue shyly. It was honestly starting to look ridiculous how you two were getting flustered around each other. Actually, you know that you have a crush, so why was Rollo acting the same way? He scoffs, a feeble attempt to conceal the way his heart is racing in his chest. He's been caught off-guard, and it irritates him. And yet, he can't find the words to refuse you. For all his pride and stubbornness, he's always been weak to you. The realization that both of you are equally flustered at this point hits him like a freight train. He's always prided himself on his composure, his ability to remain collected in even the most stressful situations. But here he is, tongue-tied and embarrassing himself. It's a feeling he's not used to, and it infuriates and confuses him in equal measures.
He takes a shaky breath, his gaze fixed on your face, searching for any hint of mockery or ill-intent. But all he sees is the same flustered expression mirrored back in your eyes. He opens his mouth to respond, to dismiss the notion and scoff at your question. But instead, he hears himself saying, “No. I wouldn't be mad.”
Taking this as your cue, you present to him the box of chocolates you've been carrying since you left your campus. It's a medium-sized box wrapped with a ribbon and a heart-shaped name tag with his name in cursive. Was that part too much? Your eyes are closed shut as you hand your gift over. Rollo stares at the box as if it might suddenly combust in your hands. His expression flickers through several emotions at once before settling into something dangerously close to flustered panic. His hands twitch at his sides, fingers curling and uncurling as he debates whether to accept it or bolt on the spot.
“...This is-” His voice cracks slightly, and he clears his throat sharply. He stops himself from saying “excessive” so as to not come off as rejecting you. He reaches out, his fingers brushing against yours as he gingerly takes the box. “Thank you.” The words are stiff, but the way his grip tightens around the ribbon gives him away entirely.
“I made it for you,” you speak up. You tuck your hair behind your ear as he unwraps the ribbon. He pauses mid-motion, his fingers frozen on undoing the knot. To hear that you had taken the time to not just buy a gift, but to actually make it yourself... His eyes flicker to yours, searching your face for any signs of mockery. But all he sees is a sincere, quiet hope.
“For me?” He repeats the question more softly this time, disbelief evident in his tone. You nod excitedly. "Yeah." Once the bow is undone, he carefully unwraps the box to reveal the chocolates lying within.
...Some pieces in the box are missing.
You swear you feel the blood drain from your face as you stare in horror. His brows knit together immediately at the sight, a sharp frown settling over his features as he lifts his gaze back to you. “Did you sample these?” He sighs, sounding rightfully bewildered. Then his expression shifts as another thought occurs to him, eyes narrowing slightly. “Or did someone else get to them first?”
“Eh- Wha?!" Your eyes shift rapidly between Rollo’s disappointed expression and the box slack-jawed. “Hey, no, this was full before I left the house!” You panic. It suddenly hits you. There was a point you left the box on your table as you went to look for your craft scissors.
“GRIM!” You suddenly shout and shake your fist. A slow, simmering irritation flashes across Rollo's face at the mention of your beast companion, his grip tightening imperceptibly around the box. “That thieving nuisance," he mutters under his breath, the words dripping with contempt. He exhales sharply through his nose, forcing himself to calm down from the initial shock.
“...It's fine. What's left is still adequate." His voice is strained, but he manages to keep it level. On the other hand, you fail to hide how extremely worried you feel that he may not like your gift anymore. A million thoughts race through your head, and they all mix into static. Is he disappointed in you? Does he think you’re lying? Does Grim’s behavior reflect badly on you?
Rollo picks up on your worry immediately, the crease in your brow and the downturn of your lips impossible to miss. He can practically feel your worry radiating off you in waves, and it makes him wince internally. His expression softens slightly, the lingering frustration in his eyes replaced with a hint of guilt. You'd put in so much effort to make this. It wasn't your fault, after all. He clears his throat gruffly, his fingers tapping restlessly against the edge of the box.
“This gift was very thoughtful of you, and this still means a lot to me," he mumbles begrudgingly. His voice is quiet, but firm. His fingers reach out to gently touch your chin, tilting your face up to meet his gaze. You lean into his touch and then smile a bit, knowing you’re both comfortable enough for this gesture to occur. You look at the box to see what pieces are left. About 30% is gone, which is pretty bad all things considered. All the dark chocolate pieces are accounted for, so you know that meddling feline avoided the bitter ones.
“I didn't know whether you liked dark, milk, or white chocolate, so I made all three. I even included some pieces that have some coffee flavoring, since I know you liked drinking that,” you spoke softly.
The fact that you've gone through so much trouble to accommodate his known tastes and preferences... His gaze roams over the remaining chocolates, suddenly seeming less daunting. He's never had anyone put such thought into a gift for him. His expression softens marginally at the explanation, fingers still lingering near your chin before he reluctantly pulls away.
“You went through the trouble of including coffee." The observation slips out before he can stop it, something suspiciously close to gratitude lacing his tone. He clears his throat, redirecting his attention to the dark chocolate pieces, which were his obvious preference. “Your foresight is... noteworthy," he admits begrudgingly, plucking one of the coffee-infused pieces and examining it with exaggerated scrutiny before finally taking a bite. The rich bitterness hits his tongue, and the corner of his mouth twitches upward. “...Acceptable." A blatant understatement.
You immediately brighten up at his acceptance. The fact that your efforts have been acknowledged by the one you’ve been yearning for warms the ice that had formed in your chest from the fear of disappointing him. You pick up the dark chocolate piece you didn't know he was eyeing earlier and hover it near his lips with no shame. "Here, have another!"
Rollo’s entire body stiffens as the chocolate hovers dangerously close to his lips. He glares at you, or tries to, at least, but the effect is ruined by the fact that his face is still faintly pink. He's caught off guard by your boldness.
“Must you feed me like some sort of-" Rollo cuts himself off with an irritated huff, but after a brief moment of hesitation, he leans forward ever so slightly and takes the offered chocolate between his teeth with careful precision. His lips brush against your fingertips in the process, and he immediately recoils as if burned, turning his face away sharply to hide the new wave of heat creeping up his neck.
“...Disgraceful,” he mutters under his breath, though there's no real conviction behind the word. You giggle a little bit at how flustered your gesture ended up making him. Rollo huffs out loud, but seeing you pleased with yourself is music to his ears.
“You know what would go really well with this? Coffee and some croissants. There's a cafe in this city I want to check out with you.” He pauses mid-chew, the suggestion catching him off guard. Coffee and croissants, two of his favorites, paired with chocolates he enjoys far more than he'd ever admit aloud... The combination is dangerously tempting. Rollo swallows the last of the chocolate with deliberate slowness, considering the offer. After a prolonged silence, he exhales sharply through his nose and straightens his posture, as if trying to reclaim some semblance of dignity.
“I would be delighted to come see it with you,” he answers.
“How about your own plans? We have the whole afternoon to ourselves, after all.”
He's caught off guard by the question, and it shows in the way his gaze flicks away for a brief moment. He'd be lying if he said he had any plans. His weekend is always clear, with his studies and council duties taking up most of his time. So he simply shrugs nonchalantly. “I have no particular engagements or obligations this afternoon that would result in us having less time together.”
"No, silly, I was asking if you had your own ideas for what we should do today, not if you had other responsibilities," you laugh lightly. You had a feeling this would happen.
Rollo bristles at the term you just called him, but the way you laugh manages to soften the sharp edges of his irritation. A flush creeps up his neck as he realizes he completely misunderstood your question. He huffs under his breath, feigning nonchalance, but the slight tint of pink to his cheeks betrays him. He's not used to being asked what he wants to do, especially not in such a casual setting. He always kept his schoolmates at arm’s length and spent his free time sharpening his skills or doing additional work.
“No, I didn't have anything in mind.” His voice is just a touch quieter than usual, as if unsure of himself. You watch him close the box of chocolates and hold a hand out to you. His palm is smooth, save for a few faint calluses from years of precise penmanship and meticulous note-taking. His fingers are long and slender, nails neatly trimmed—no surprise given his fastidious nature. You pick up that there's an uncharacteristic hesitance in the way his fingers hover, waiting for yours. As if he's still unsure whether this gesture is too much, too soon.
You eagerly take his hand, wordlessly telling him that everything will be alright. “I only know it by name, so perhaps you know the way there?” You ask him as you two make your way out of the city’s waterway. The tension in his shoulders eases just a fraction, then Rollo nods curtly, his composure regained. “I'll lead the way.” Without awaiting a response, he grips your hand a little more firmly and begins navigating through the streets of Fleur City with you by his side.
