I wish I had more time to sit down and write the interesting things and thoughts I have to share.
WIP Wednesday! A blanket for my pink living room!
Pink
So for six months I have lived in a single room studio apartment surrounded by a bunch of delinquents. Although I had lived in a dorm before, it was my first apartment and it was good for just that--charming in it's own thrown-together way. A couple of paintings were hung and I bought a red comforter. I was/am a small broken college girl that was just surviving. That's where the charming ended and the cringe worthy facts slapped me in the face. I should have known what was to come when the first night I couldn't sleep because my upstairs neighbors were playing music so loud it shook my walls. Numerous times in that apartment my boyfriend and I would look at each other with worry because there was screaming and loud thuds that came from the ceiling. "Should we call the cops?" That was a common question. Soon after I realized no matter how clean I kept my place a bug or two would be found. Then one morning, on my way to teach theatre at the school, I came out and crunched on glass. My right next door neighbor's front door window was gaping wide open. Kind of assuming that last night had been a crazy, drunk night, I locked my door and continued. Turns out he had been gone the entire weekend, parking his car in front to make it seem like he was there, and someone stole all guns, ammo, and his Xbox. He was a former marine. That was when I got a latch for my door and started to spend my free time elsewhere. Six months came and went and I hadn't even hung a curtain in my living room, but by the time I started packing it was pointless, because honestly the place wasn't worth a pair of curtains. I coincidentally left the weekend there was a double homicide across the road and my left next door neighbor had been missing for three days. And since I have never looked back.
That being said, last month I moved into a townhouse with one of my friends I work with. Going from my "charming" first apartment I have made a point to make this place a real home. Working three jobs (children's retail, Hobby Lobby, and at the acting school) is exhausting but rewarding, especially when I come into a good place to live. Our next door neighbors include a young couple and a family. I don't fear for my safety when I take my trash out. I have a living room, an entire kitchen, a laundry room, a huge room, two bathrooms, and a coat room! So my roommate and I have decided we are going to decorate one room at a time, because I don't know about her but I don't want to leave this place for years.
First room? The living room. With my obsession with having a place worthy to be an actual home, I have Pintrested for hours to find inspiration for the living room. We have two couches, a lamp, a table and an entertainment center. Should we do red? Blue? All the sudden pink? We both laughed at the idea. But then I thought about it. And thought. It came to me. When I get married I will never had a pink living room ever again. Perhaps once I am retired and have a crafting room all to my self for crochet and sewing, I will be able to decorate it in girly colors...otherwise I'm going to have red, blue, tan, etc for the rest of my life. This might be the only time in my life that I get a pink living room. So we're doing it!
I guess I am typing this because I just hung up my pink curtains in the living room and it looks amazing! With pink flowers, candles, a couch blanket crocheted by myself and soon-to-come couch pillows, I cannot help but feel excited and grateful for my new home, jobs, and everything else in my life that is, as always, on the incline. All of the sudden this pink has inspired me. I'll post pics when it is finally finished!
My Dash
I love following blogs of writers, artists, crafters, and people who appreciate different shows and movies that I do on here. Everyone is always either posting their artwork, WIPs, tips and advice, or parts from their favorite shows/movies. It's refreshing to go to a site where everyone is passionate about something. Kudos to you everyone! I think you all are amazing. :)
The struggle
My little sister is graduating high school today! And while I'm so proud of her, I am also not looking forward to sitting there for three hours after her name gets called because it starts with a B. I'm so tempted to bring my crochet but I can already see my parents faces.
Darn.
Out of yarn for my blanket. And I'm broke. I guess I'm making other projects until Friday!
Summer
Binge crochet, tea drinking, & watching Once Upon a Time from the beginning before work. So is this far of my summer...and I like it.
The struggle is real...
I've been so busy packing, cleaning, working, and spending time with friends that I have been top exhausted or haven't gotten the chance to sit down with a nice cup of tea and work on my blanket! Will it ever get done? Will any of it ever get done? Now I'm off to Hobby Lobby to listen to everyone talk about their projects and watch them go off to craft in envy. Talk about first world probs right here.
Interview Update
I got the job!!!!! I just completed my first week at Hobby Lobby and I can already tell I'm going to like it! I mean retail is retail. But still. And I'm super proud of myself. I worked three days before I spent any money there. Of course I'm getting into a quilting project after my crochet blanket is finished but I thought I would also make a scrapbook for this summer. Yay!
Interview Update
I GOT THE JOB!!!! This week I worked three days and I already like it. Granted retail is retail but I feel like it’s going to be a great match. I JUST made my first employee purchase
Interview Update
This morning I got a phone call from my cable company saying I had a balance of $100 because I pay it bimonthly. Discouraged I hung up the phone, trying to figure out how I am supposed to pay it. Less than a minute later I got a phone call from Hobby Lobby. They said to come in Tuesday and fill out paperwork. :) I'm pretty sure I'm hired! What a funny way things turn out!
Interview Update
Still haven't heard anything from Hobby Lobby. I'm super nervous.
My first craft project of the semester to celebrate finals being over! #anditbegins #craft #corkboard #summer
Finals are OVER
So what do I do of course? Spend all day painting and crocheting. And watching Desperate Housewives. The ONE TIME I leave my little apartment today was for take out at BDubs. So I go in to pick up my order, covered in paint, baseball cap, Tshirt, yoga pants & all and guess who's sitting at the first table? My ex. And guess who has to wait 15 minutes before the cashier finally decides to show up to ring me up? Coincidentally this person looks like they just came back from a mission trip...a really really rough mission trip with no showers or make up? But without the I've-done-something-good-to-society glow? You guessed it. This girl.
Made some coasters for my mom for Mothers Day!
