Hello, I was stalking (yes, stalking) some of your sengen posts XD. I saw this post of yours when you say there was this video preview (or was it radio's preview) where Gen is hosting, and Senku sends him a hate letter. In the comments someone asked about it and you said that there was a sub video that got deleted (💔) but that there was a transcription in someone's twitter. I just wanted to ask if you could maybe share it with a screenshot? Pretty please?👉🏻👈🏻 because that twitter account is a private one so I can't see anything from it and I'm going insane looking for this drama (is it a cd drama?) in the internet and FINDING NOTHING
SO SORRY I totally missed this ask and left you waiting for the transcript for a week...
Translation of the transcript via Google Translate, credits for the Japanese transcript goes to @/neoki_sngn on Twitter:
Ah, it's Asagiri Gen's Uly-tru Azy-cray Radio Show! Thanks for listening, everyone!
Today's question email is from Suika-chan in Ishigami Village: "What kind of magic can Gen do?"
I can do anything! Coin tricks, vocal mimicry, oh and even fortune-telling with mentalism which girls love! I can also guess birthdays!
Huh..? An email addressed to me?
Um... Hehehehe...
"That psychology book was absolute garbage,"
I bet that was Senku-chan... How awful~
Next up in Dr. Stone, "The treasure" – wow, it's so exciting, seriously!
That additional mention of how he can guess birthdays. Oh, they're hilarious.
The moon mission is extremely dangerous. The mentalist is making a desperate wish 🌠 ,,,
There's just something special about sengen sharing a bike that scratches that oddly specific itch
What is purple royalty?
It's Stan, Xeno and Gen as a family– just a silly little fun headcanon in some parts of the fandom. It's called that because they're all purple-themed (Stan's lips, Xeno's tie and Gen's entire outfit)

Okay I read the manga for jaadugar, it still did not prepare me for seeing it animated 😭 I bawled my eyes out. Aside from that, science saru is killing it again with the animation. When I saw they were doing it I had full trust that it would be a good adaptation. So go watch it if you’re ready to cry!!!!!
I read only one chapter a few months back, found out it was going to be an anime and decided to watch the anime by itself instead...
Not sure if it'll affect everyone the same way but yeah I cried.

Ohhh I had seen Jaadugar and the artstyle grabbed my eyes, but I ended up not putting it on my watchlist for the season. I should reconsider, then? 🤔
(Orb is already in my backlog.)
There are only two episodes out so far and I've been really enjoying it!! If you enjoy shows where the main message is the importance of knowledge, then you may like it ✨

Hello! I am worried that I missed something! Many japanese fans had been jokingly stating that "Ahh, Gen's the heroine." In the rolling stone ED. And I am confused as to what I am missing. Is it them walking together? Is that what the heroine in other animes do?
Hellooo, don't worry, it's just a common joke in the fandom! Except there's some basis to the joke because Gen plays the "heroine" role sometimes. For example, heroines tend to be the main support to the protagonist, their equal, and we often get their perspectives and feelings on things that happen throughout the story. This happens with Gen too.
In a Q&A session with the author, Riichiro Inagaki, this question was in fact brought up:

SUIKAAAA OMG MY BABY 😭❤️❤️
I still haven’t watched the actual episode. I’m not ready for it to be OVER over 💔
OK NVM ARE THEY ADAPTING THE EXTRA VOLUME…..
I’m gonna be honest tho, the extra is just okay. I also did not like the byakuya reboot IM SORRY!!!
Same..... I'm not a fan of them either tbh 😭😭
OMG THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. ABSOLUTELY TRUTH NUKE. I was too scared of getting flamed for thinking about it this way. The scene where all the other scientists are just shitting on xeno’s plan to build the time machine? That’s me. I am those other scientists. There’s a point to where I can accept the alien tech, but not a whole ass TIME MACHINE 😭the story could have totally ended without it. It is simply too far fetched for me to enjoy it. And I do feel bad about not liking it, cause just like you said, I understand the message!! But at the same time I just. Can’t 😭
The point about senku not grieving healthily is only exacerbated in the extra volume with why man’s mind games. give him a BREAK bro 💔
I’m not even gonna talk about the “baby hitler paradox” of it all. tldr the Time Machine is unnecessary and I lowkey hate it.
SAME!!! I feel like those people who didn't believe global warming was real before it was scientifically proven to be real or something, but when that ending happened I went all "oh COME ON"
Also, I get feeling guilty but I am also in the personal opinion that having criticism/unpopular opinions for a media we like doesn't mean we like it any less, so it's fine #TOME. I've made several posts about how I dislike the direction of the story after the America Arc lol
Damn, thank you all! 😭
I'm also not a fan of the time machine. It feels too far-fetched but also just Senku not grieving.
I would have preferred an ending where Senku accepts his father is gone but it's thank to him that they made it this far.
Also Senku's ambitions were always going to the moon, so an ending I would have preferred is for him to decide to push the boundaries of space exploration!
They now have hard proof that other intelligent lifeforms exist in the universe. Let's try to find them, get excited! Something like that! 😭
Introducing a time machine at the 11th hour just feels weird. And also I just don't see an happy ending with time travel.
Like what's the goal? Why-Man says they want to prevent incursion on Earth to save more of their people. So prevent the petrification completely? So no more Kohaku, Chrome, Suika? Mirai goes back to being brain dead in the hospital? Gen goes back to his celebrity job that seemed to by wearing him down to the bones (he looked like a dead man walking in the manga at first)? That doesn't feel like a happy ending...
Or they save an alternate timeline so everything above is applicable but also Senku never sees his dad again. That's sad too!
If they just wanted to save the astronauts by bringing them in the future, just say it! But it still feels like a cop-out. I love Byakuya, but a message above grieving and moving on is good too!!
And 4-D science don't really help me feeling better about it either.... 😔
As someone who writes time travel fanfic - I actually agree with you all so much. 😭 I do not bring Byakuya back, in fact I emphasize how many people are gone for good due to being smashed thousands of years ago and have Gen use his mentalist skills to help nudge Senku into accepting reality. The whole point of both stories is that the time machine doesn't do what Senku's unhealthy overly optimistic coping hopes it does.
In one it yanks Gen's mind out of a near-death moment and shoves it into a younger body - the just sending information idea Xeno mentions twisted into it's least useful form. In the other it does that to Senku and Gen, but incompletely and at the cost of their lives. Senku is framed as self destructive and willing to incur any cost to get his father back even as an 80+ year old man. That's what spending his life chasing time travel got him: old, mostly alone, full of regrets and chasing the past as his future came and went without him moving forward.
Space exploration is an obvious option, but seeing him move forward instead of look backward would have been so much better.
I say space exploration because it fits Senku's dreams and ambitions, but not like Senku going off to space. Just continuing to work on space research and travel.
Re-establish an ISS.
Trying to send signals in the vastness of space.
But also moving on, yes. Stopping his "I'm gonna pause everything else in my life". Friends, family, etc.
He continues to study science and space, but at the end of the day goes out to drink with friends, goes home. Says hello to the little memorial he put together for Byakuya in the living room.
The time machine doesn't feel hopeful. It feels like a trap.
Yes, yes exactly. I'm all for aroace Senku who doesn't need romance, but the way he phrases it as something he will do later instead of something he just doesn't want in the first place bothers me. That's not the same thing. I'm just aro, and I always wanted kids, so my personal experience is different, but "it isn't the right time" combined with him being obsessed with bringing back the dead first gives me red flags.
I really love the story, but that aspect of it hits a sour note for me. Especially with everyone else moving forward and thriving and he's still in his red cape pursuing the same goal of saving everyone with overlays of dead people who died without ever being petrified. Gen puts his old outfit on, but it isn't tattered like it was. It's clearly a new version (with the old jagged line design not the sleeker one and no tie) probably made of nicer fabric instead of rawhide and hemp. He's just being comfortable at home and usually wears a suit to work. Senku does have a nice lab coat (finally he has trousers) but he is at work wearing the tattered red cape after a significant - likely multiple years long - time skip. It's not a nostalgic thing he keeps as a precious momento, it's part of his everyday at work. Sure, he was at day 1 of Taiju and Yuzuriha's wedding, but if anyone other than the bride and groom was going to be there for both ceremonies it wouldn't it be the best man? Cultural differences, Japanese weddings are really short compared to American ones, but he's not there. They say he was there for the firat one and at least the English translation sounds like he left early to go back to work that same day. Taiju and Yuzuriha clearly wanted him there, they are bringing the cake and Gen to Senku.
Gen doesn't find out about the time machine because Senku reveals it to him or invited him to see it. Senku is so attached to it that Gen finds out essentially during the wedding reception/party for Senku’s childhood friends while eating wedding cake. It's... so bizarre and unhealthy. I get that the pace is fast and they are doing a gag ans wrapping things up quivk, but the implications during a second watch are kinda icky.
Yeah exactly...
That's why, like many other media I am fan of, I choose to ignore the Canon about the time machine and make my own ending. 😭
But glad I am not the only one rubbed the wrong way by the sudden time machine introduction.
I had a lengthy debate about it yesterday after watching the episode lol.
I really love the discussion here!
Especially "The time machine doesn't feel hopeful. It feels like a trap." THIS. This summarises how I feel about the time machine ending in the most eloquent way. The irony of trying to invent something that will allow you to bend time to your wish, and yet lose all the time you already have now. Time machines... something so futuristic... and yet the man himself lives in the past. It is just unhealthy but it's painted in such an optimistic light.
Adding something visually to the discussion and my Head Canon
I imagine this would be after senku collapsed from overwork, but instead of resting after waking up, he went straight back to work and gen couldn’t take it anymore. He’s already tried talking some sense into senku, using his mentalist tricks and getting the other members of the science team (and kos) on his side, so senku is more inclined to.. maybe focus on his own future and try to move on. Nothing has worked so far and it hurts too much to see senku loosing more and more of himself. It’s even more obvious to gen how much senku has changed because of all the years they haven’t seen each other. Realizing how much the kos have enabled this bad coping mechanism, including himself. As the designated mentalist of the kos he feels especially guilty for not seeing how much senku has strayed from his path.
So this scene is a build up of all the pent up emotions that gen has been bottling up in his desperate attempt to right his wrongs. Whether senku can be reasoned or not is another question
