This is a character of the day blog centered around object sentience!
Object sentience is an object which someone experiences as sentient - through being objectum, animism, servitors, delusions, whatever.
This blog includes fictional objects, including canon sentient objects, and also personal objects and allows for submissions! There's more guidelines on the submission page.
Big FAQ under the cut
What can be submitted?
Really anything. They can be objects objects from personal media, objects you personally experience sentient, objects you just like, object kintypes, whatever. The only limit are objects which hold a deep personal meaning to someone that is not yourself (i.e. sona plushies) or objects directly associated with tragic events.
For objects from fiction it can be headcanon or canon, and there are tags for submitting it.
There's also an "nsfw/dni" option in the submission form which is more intended to be for personal objects you don't want to be reblogged to nsfw or kink blog .
Do you have a DNI?
Not particularly. If a post has "nsfw/dni" don't reblog that post to nsfw or kink blogs.
Some of the mods are endogenic and this blog includes object thoughtforms as a category of object sentience, so probably not a good idea to interact if you're a gatekeeper. This blog also is inclusive of objectkin and linkers so kin for fun we'd rather not interact.
That's about it, it's not very strict.
Is there a flag?
There isn't one and we agreed we don't feel like object sentience needs one, it's not a sexuality and it would be like making a flag for animism or thoughtforms, and this isn't exactly a joke blog like blogs like Himbo of the Day. OTD blogs don't need a flag especially if it doesn't work for the OTD.
What counts as an object?
After some modly debate we concluded "Something that is not considered traditionally alive". We don't count plants as objects for this blog.
What counts as canon?
If an object is shown to have a will, speaks, or otherwise shows sentience, that counts as canon. "Ambiguously canon" is used if an argument can go either way. Headcanons are if something isn't implied sentient at all.
How does other tagging work?
Object sentience is used most of the time. Objectum is only used for relationship-based objects. Thoughtform, headmate, or kin tags are used if the object submitted fits one of those categories.
We don't tag posts with POSIC as a personal preference - some mods don't want to be involved with that community.
Who are the mods?
There's a couple of beings (including sentient objects) who run this and we're not looking for any mods. We'll make a more in-depth mod post at some point.
Why did you make this blog?
Most of the mods are huge nerds and also find sentient objects in fiction to be more interesting than characters who experience object sentience. We thought this would be more fun too!
