RIP MUSCLE BREWERY #86
My name is Ryan. I live in Australia. I’ve been a user and defender of Tumblr since I was 15, and I'm about to turn 30 in a few weeks. My side blog, @musclebrewery86 has just been sniped, with no chance to retrieve or appeal the decision. The snarky little email they sent had the fucking nerve to tell me someone reported a post and that it wasn't their braindead robot who'd flagged it. I’m so angry and disappointed. All that work, all those gifs that were my own, an expression of self and a personal craft I took great pride in perfecting, will now just be pilfered and reposted by some infuriating AI clickbait robot accounts who will go undetected and unrestrained, stealing other people's work. I desperately clung to the remnants of a golden age of the internet and blog culture, a time that lives on in many blogs still today, while living under an oppressive censorship monolith that is broken and run by AI. Through all the memorable moments in its history, the acquisition from Yahoo and the porn ban of ‘18, I and so many others have stuck through, weathered the storm and came out the other side, feeling like we'd all experienced a shared trauma. Now, with this decision, I'm left questioning why, in 2025, I still come back. And I know the answer. Whether by habit or due to the actual friends I’ve created on this platform, it's always held a loyalty that often isn't afforded to other social media applications. I had a good run, and I tried really hard to work within the rules. But I think I’m gonna go now. Might be back later. Thanks for the good times, Xo - Providence Park
