I went to a catholic school, with conservative views and I swear some people here sound EXACTLY like my teachers of other school staff but they think they are progressive.

“All smut in inherently harmful and we should get rid of it.” Is just: “Reading/watching porn is sinful.”

“We need to ban X thing because it’s problematic!” It’s just: “X thing goes against our beliefs therefore it’s dangerous and needs to be get rid of.”

“It’s dangerous for women to consume X type of media because it’s going to make them think a problematic kind of way!” It’s just: “Women need to be protected, they are too sensitive and too susceptible to understand things on their own.”

I could give more examples but I think I made my point, you are not progressive, you just changed your language and reasoning but never stopped and questioned those beliefs.

I think some of the loneliness of autism is that you feel like you hurt people just by Interacting Wrong, but you don’t know how to Interact Right, and the more effort you put into it, the more exhausted you are and the more artificial it comes across (with the end result of people still being upset with you). and it’s not anyone’s fault for not liking Being Interacted With Wrong, and it’s not your fault for doing it so wrong, but it is very, very lonely.
