A quiet melody of free for use music can be heard in the background of a poorly shot video that begins to play. Adrien can be seen lying face up on her bed with a tiny microphone held between her fingertips, it looks quite silly. When she speaks her voice is distorted by an autotune filter:
“Hello everyone. ( Oh, wow, I sound like the second Kira with this thing. )
So, I am making this video because I wanted to announce my decent into madness. Everything is, you know, everything is fine, I'm doing fine. This is just where my villain origin story begins. I thought I should let everyone know about it.
I just decided that, um, it was time to stop being nice, uh, forever. So, I am evil now, and there will be no negotiations at this time. I apologize to anyone who, you know, had certain expectations of me, as the... mascot? Figurehead? Marionette? ( Marie Antoinette? Ugk, no. ) that I am, to not give into darkness. Because I most definitely have. Done that.
This was to be expected really. You know, I really did try to let it go. I tried to be the bigger person about it. I tried to be peaceful and serene ( snrk ) But well, it gets to you eventually, you know? I'm sure it happens to everyone. There is a limit. And I am... At... Mine.
And look at this tiny microphoooone. I got it on a sketchy website for just one dollar. (That’s about sixty-six cents for you Americans out there.) I’m pretty sure they stole my information, which, is quite silly if you think about it. They could have found it for free-e-ee, if they used the wayback machii-i-ine. Can you believe this year I'll be nineteen? I still look twelve, what the hell is up with that? I guess I shouldn’t dwell ...on it.
I deleted all of the emails about the Micro Monster Mashup because, well, I didn't want to be stuck in a big cro-o-owd. I don't like meeting new people, what are you even meant to talk about? The weather? No one wants to talk about the weather. Now I'm stuck at home all by myseEelf and I'm lonelyyyy. Social anxiety can be so painfully ironic.
I should get back to the point.
At first I thought it was a coincidence, just a funny little happenstance. But, well, I noticed a pattern. Every time I went to the shops and found a little treat for myself, and I liked it? Gone. It would just be gone. Forever. Out of stock, discontinued, all of the shops would run out as if by plan. As if to thwart me. And you know what? They did. Like they had a vendetta against me specifically. I tried not to take it personally, because it isn't. But you know what? It, uh, it is actually, it is personal.
And also, I haven’t so much as looked at a pencil or brush in, um, I don’t know. It’s been quite a long time. Oh, and I didn’t mean hair brush, I meant, you know, a paint brush. Brushing your hair, it’s bad for it, did you know that? It is.
Anyway, I’ve gone without any tasty little treats or artistic endeavors for so long that now I’ve ..lost it.
