This photo was taken at Tamper Coffee and Brunch in Bohol on April 1, 2018. It’s one of the best breakfast spots on the island. I had late breakfast and was starving, so I opted for rice with pork chop and egg. Beau had the American breakfast, which typically consists of bacon, egg, and toast. They offer a variety of dishes, such as pasta, sandwiches, and rice meals. On our second visit, I tried the chorizo burger, which turned out to be surprisingly good. The modern interior with a touch of Scandinavian style makes the place feel very cozy. I could easily spend the whole day there, enjoying my Lofi playlist and sipping their delicious matcha latte. I was also impressed by the use of tablets for the menu—just swipe and select to place an order. It is so modern! It wasn’t as common back then. The staff were particularly accommodating as well.
During our trip to Bohol, we visited eight cafes just for breakfast alone. When beau needed a reliable Wi-Fi connection, we often head to Tamper Coffee and Brunch, as it’s the only cafe with dependable Wifi and a cozy atmosphere for working. We’d sit there drinking coffee while he worked on his laptop, and I immersed myself in watching The Shannara Chronicles on Netflix.

Aside from my great experience at Tamper Coffee and Brunch, there was another remarkable café on the island named Garden Café. (Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the photos) When we arrived, I was surprised to find that the staff handed us a pen and paper and used sign language, It hit me that the staff were mute and deaf! I was truly amazed and I admired the management for hiring staff with disabilities. The atmosphere of the cafe was serene, with only the soft murmur of guests speaking quietly. If the staff couldn’t see your hand signals, you had to approach them, tap them, and write down your request if you didn’t know how to communicate them by sign language.
Apart from its extraordinary concept, the food was excellent. I had the best native hot cocoa and puto with mango there. Someday, if time permits, I’ll definitely plan to revisit these cafés and relive the beautiful memories for which I’m forever grateful.
