Hey all! I. Fully forgot to use this page last year huh. Rip. Anyway if anyone's at Animethon this year I'll see you there! With a bit of help from my mom I threw together a quick and dirty Midnight Mutant Jubilee from Marvel Rivals!!! I will be rewearing this cosplay for edmonton expo too after fixing it up and adding couple elements I ran out of time for haha.
AYOOOOO Happy Edmonton Expo 2024 everyone! This year I got to cosplay with my mom! We were the evil queens Ravenna and Freya from the movie The Huntsman: Winter's War. I sewed and built almost every inch of my costume, and boy oh boy it was sure a learning experience! I may rebuild the entire thing before the costume's debut at Calgary Expo haha, but I was still very happy to get to wear it this year. My mom spent over 100 hours individually painting those feathers on her cape and sewing them on. It's soooo cool to see in person, and it moves so freaking well. So happy to have gotten to share this experience with her!
Animethon 2024, Laios really did happen! It was very sweaty n hot but surprisingly comfortable to sit in. I was Tennant on Friday but did not get any pics, and Sunday had a staff emergency so I had to go in early and didn't have time to dress up :( At least I got the armour going for Saturday!!! My friend's Dungeon Meshi panel went really well, I'm so proud of her and the work she did. Here's a pic of the rest of the group in their costumes!
And!!! I got to meet @gideoncav (Gideon cosplayer and photographer of second pic)!!! Who I have been following on here since at least November??? Which was very fun and somewhat surreal to realize as we exchanged socials at the con and I went "hey would you believe. I already follow you." Super cool moment, and honestly one of the highlights of the con for me this year!
I am never building an armour that last minute ever again though no matter what my friends are doing; I literally barely ate or slept for like 2 weeks and lowkey started to get scurvy 🫥 Next up, I need to finish my Freya cosplay from The Huntsman: Winter's War for Edmonton Expo!
5 day build. I can't believe I got this much done. The forearms are just steel plate armour I already owned, and the clothes underneath are white jeans and a white button down, but otherwise I built this whole thing from foam, hot glue, elastic, velcro, and brass fasteners. In 5 days of work.
Never let me build an armour this last minute again please.
See y'all at Animethon!!! I'll be Tennant on Friday and Sunday and Laios for as long as I can stand on Saturday.
Man. I'm getting some really good progress on my Freya cosplay from The Huntsman Winter's War. But my friends are literally doing a dungeon meshi panel at Animethon. And it's another big group one, even bigger than the planned reverse: 1999 one.

Why am I doing this to myself
Another year, another Calgary Expo! This year I went as Tennant from Reverse: 1999 and Earring Magic Ken from Barbie! Ken was also my costume of choice at Edmonton Expo '23, and the pic here is from that because I forgot to take any at Cal Expo LOL, plus I'm with a fellow earring magic Ken from a Ken themed improv panel!

So a year on, it has come to my attention that I never posted the incredible photos taken by Murasaki Cosplay Photography of my Suki cosplay from Avatar: The Last Airbender at Animethon 2019!
This was the cosplay that almost never was - I had barely done any work on the armour except the chest and back pieces, the wig wasn't styled, all I really had were the sewn components that were finished months earlier. So 5 days before the con, the incredibly talented Murasaki Cosplay Photography posts in one of the cosplay groups I'm in that she has a spare slot on the Saturday and would like to offer a free shoot to someone whose cosplay inspired her. I submitted some pictures of the pieces I did have done, thinking that one of the 16 people who had done the same before me were sure to be chosen. She messaged me in 9 minutes flat because it turns out she loves Suki and Avatar the Last Airbender just as much as I do! And so, due to work I ended up with three days in which to feverishly slap together the rest of this costume! Enormous shout out to my mom, without whom this costume would have never come together. That being said, I have sworn to never last-minute that hard again! In hindsight I'm just glad I didn't put off wearing this one until 2020 haha.
I have a couple more shots from this photoshoot as well as some hallway shots on hand, but I think I'll save those for when Animethon 2020 would have been.
Hello! I'm alive! Honestly just using this blog as a cosplay archive at this point, but I just finished sewing my own Suki cosplay from Avatar the Last Airbender! This is the second time I've sewn my own garment, the first being a stretch-knit lined sweater vest type deal that wasn't all that well made. Definitely a glow-up for me! Next steps, armour and headpiece!
I definitely didn't forget about this blog what are you talking about? Anyways, shout out to Odin's Keepers Cosplay on Facebook who recorded my entry into the Animethon 24 Cosplay Contest! I was cosplaying as Salem and performed Salem's monologue! My mom made the vast majority of the costume, I just did the veining on the arms and legs (surprise both are actually white tights!) and the makeup. Had such a blast that day!!!! I actually received the runner up award for Best Performance that day, was absolutely thrilled in my first cosplay contest ever! Since Salem doesn't have a canonical weapon yet, my mum and I made a design for the Grimm jellyfish as a staff. The video doesn't show it sadly, but this staff actually lights up! More on that next post.
Some better shots of my cane! I’m super proud of this thing, took about three days to do. The main body is a PVC pipe I painted black with a bottom meant for furniture on hardwood I painted silver. The top is two makeup holders that I glued together. The detail work is a camping mat I carved with a dotter from a pedicure kit then went over with a .3 inking pen, plus painted the whole thing silver with gold bands. A clock housing filled with carvable soft foam, rivets, and some gears from Michaels does the detailed round part, and a sawed off handle from a corkscrew finishes the look!

Yo, shout out to @solarboticsltd for saving my cane twice! The handle piece fell off right before the meetup so they helped to redo the hot glue, then it ended up coming off again so they full on epoxied it back into place. Seriously, solarbotics is fantastic
