As I approach my mid-twenties, being completely alone without any friends in the summer and seeing everyone else with their own group of friends (even just one best friend) and experiencing the beauty of friendship is a different kind of pain.
I’m okay on my own, and I enjoy my own company.
But I’ll admit that sometimes I feel so lonely.
When people say that the older you get, the harder it is to make friends, it’s true.
Especially people with shared interests or hobbies.
I don’t know why, but this summer I’m struggling with loneliness more than usual—always staying home, not getting any message notifications, seeing the few friends I have and remembering that I’m never their first thought; many of them live hours away from me, have their own lives and their own friends.
And I have no one.
Maybe it's partly because I've been depressed since my late teens, and I lost so many friendships and so much time because I didn't have any energy, but I feel like I'm missing out on so much.
Ah, I didn’t know what to do, but I needed to write this down somewhere. I don’t think anyone will read it, but I needed to vent.
