Fun linguistics fact: there are rules to what people generally recognize as a "correct" keyboard smash. They're 5–20 characters; in all caps or all lowercase, no mixing cases; not a lot of vowels, but the most common vowel is the letter a (personally, I used to use I a decent amount, but I guess I was weird for that; and importantly, many of the more common keyboard smash letters are in the middle row of the keyboard.

Happy 8th Death Day, Jurgen Leitner! In honor of this momentous occasion, I'm rereading the Jurgen Leitner rant. Maybe I'll try to memorize it.

melanie would have ended up in a spiral domain had she not been exempt from the apocalypse.

(NOT a stranger domain. spiral is "you're crazy" when you're not crazy. stranger is "everything's normal" while it eats your mind.)

melanie 'you're not gaslighting me, right?' king. melanie, who remembers the real sasha, who gets angry when everyone around her keeps insisting that the person she remembers never existed.

melanie, who knows her family has a history of dementia and has watched what it can do to a person firsthand.

No one who's confident in their own perception of reality would take such personal offense to someone claiming that someone they knew never existed. The standard reaction would be 'weird joke but ok'.

And this was pre-ghost bullet melanie.

no supernatural forces caused her to lash out. it was simply her own deep, intrinsic fears. amplified by everyone around her denying the existence of someone she knew was real.

Or at least she thought she knew.

Not being able to trust her own mind is such a strong cause of concern for melanie that out of everyone in the archives, she's the one that helen decided to strike up a friendship with.
