I'm Julien, a fic writer and fanartist. ✨ I'm relatively new to DA fandom spaces & would love to make more connections, so pls feel free to @ me in tag games / send asks / message me / respond to my posts to chat! I take a while to respond to tag games and asks sometimes, but I always appreciate being included & will hopefully get around to them all even if I'm like a month late lol.
You can also find me on Ao3 here or on my main blog @bigmeanbisexual.
✨ tagging ✨
I try to tag things pretty thoroughly, so if you're avoiding spoilers for any games, filtering the game's acronym tag (#dao, #da2, #dai, or #datv) should keep you pretty safe here.
In terms of my tags:
#mine: all of my posts!
#my art: my art!
#my writing: my writing!
#blu: anything regarding my pavellan fic better left unsaid!
#renan for my inquisitor!
#landeck for my rook!
Info on my worldstate & ocs can be found below the cut :^)
✨ my worldstate & ocs ✨
Here's the tl;dr:
In DA:O, I played as M!Mahariel and romanced Zevran, going through with the ritual and putting Anora on the throne.
In DA:2, I played as Garrett and romanced Anders, supporting mages.
In DA:I, I played as M!Lavellan and romanced Dorian, drinking from the Well of Sorrows and disbanding the Inquisition.
In DA:TV, I played as a male Elven Mercar and romanced Lucanis.
However, I've gotten really, really into developing my Inquisitor's story and am working through the process of rebuilding my worldstate around him. As it stands, the two OCs I've put a lot of love into are my Inquisitor, Renan, and my Rook, Landeck.
✨Inquisitor Renan✨
Age: 28 in 9:41 Dragon, 38 in 9:51 Dragon
Gender: Trans man
Class: Knight-Enchanter Mage
Race: Dalish Elf
Romance: Dorian
Renan is, to put it simply, a private person. Used to keeping to himself, the position of "Inquisitor" hasn't come naturally to him, though Josephine quickly taught him to temper his resting glare. (To an extent, at least.)
To the Inquisition's forces, Renan is a stoic yet benevolent leader. To his inner circle, he is a dry-humored and loyal man, leveraging his position to ensure that those close to him are well taken care of.
To Dorian, Renan is... well. That's rather personal, isn't it?
Renan is my character of all time right now. I'm currently writing his story here on ao3, but you can also look through my #renan tag to find other things I've written about him, like a codex entry here and there.
✨Landeck "Rook" Mercar✨
Age: 19 in 9:41 Dragon, 29 in 9:51 Dragon
Gender: Trans man
Class & Faction: Rogue Shadow Dragon
Race: City Elf
Romance: Lucanis & Emmrich
A little sarcastic, a tad bit flirty, and incredibly impulsive and stubborn, Landeck is precisely the wild card that Varric needed for the job. Whether he's what the Veilguard needs in a leader, however, he isn't so sure.
As a Shadow Dragon, Landeck was frequently chided for his lack of subtlety or tact, relying on flashy displays and distractions rather than the quiet stealth that Tarquin repeatedly told him was necessary.
As "Rook", people seem to appreciate his bluntness, his quick decisions, and his ability to bulldoze through a conversation to get what he needs for his team. Whether they will live to regret this is yet to be seen.
I started with Veilguard, so Landeck was my first Dragon Age OC, hence the random Veil Jumper tattoos lol. Since playing through the other games, I've been heavily rewriting him, but I have a pretty solid grasp now on who he is and what he's up to until the start of Veilguard. What he actually gets up to during the game is still being workshopped. I need to come up with another last name for him and get some screenshots of him with the right tattoos, too 😅
OC checkpoint because I'm curious...
What's the physical trait you like the most on your OC's face? A little detail you love paying attention to when you draw them. Their face just doesn't feel complete until you've added that thing. Tell me
Found out there's a mod to put Rook in Harding's casual clothes, but since it is HOT AS BALLS rn and I cannot run my pc, I decided to do it the old fashioned way. Esha isn't sure if her girlfriend's shirt fits. Harding doesn't think it matters when she's not gonna be wearing it much longer. 😏
disclaimer: I am east asian. if anyone who is not white sees anything wrong with my phrasing, inaccuracies, or insensitivity, or something I missed, please feel free to add on. I’m just one person with one perspective; none of what I say should be taken as The Singular way to draw an Asian character. if you havent done so already, please take the effort to expand your view of Asian culture outside this one tutorial.
if a white person reblogs this and adds something stupid I’m going to bite and kick you like a wild animal
I LOVE this post and wanted to add some additional info, cause I see a lot of people who assume that drawing asian hair is the same as drawing white hair. This is not the case! There’s more to it than just the color.
Image description for the original post and my addition are underneath the read more at the end.
Thank you for reading! Once again, image description for my images and OP’s images are under the cut.
Just like OP, I’m only one single person, so if anyone wants to correct me or add something I missed, then go for it. And further disclaimer, there are exceptions to everything I’ve said in this post, and it only applies to East and Southeast asian people who are either not mixed or white-mixed, as those are the hair types I’m most familiar with.
Edit: AUGH I FORGOT TO mention this but @ everyone in the comments talking about blue eyes on biracial asians, here’s another guide I made that goes over color inheritance for biracial people:

Me: "Damn people are REALLY BAD at knowing when to tag their eyestrain art/images...either that or they just don't care about photosenitive epileptic people like me. I feel really sad now."
Person: "But Allison, what if they just don't know or understand what qualifies as eyestrain and what doesn't?"
Me: "You know what? That could be a factor...While it is always better to be safe rather than sorry (so YES people should always tag eyestrain even if they're unsure if it "counts" or not) maybe you've got a point?"
Anyways! HERE'S YOUR HANDY GUIDE TO WHAT CAN COUNT AS EYESTRAIN! I'm pulling this straight from the Artfight rules page about what needs to be labeled and filtered as eyestrain because it's VERY helpful and VERY accurate! I also know not everybody has an AF account and might not always have access to this handy guide, and this is an important resource; That's why I'm sharing it here! (under the cut)
PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!!! THIS IS ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OTHERS!!!

"But Allison! How were you able to screenshot that example if you're so sensitive to eyestrain?"
I dimmed the HELL out of my computer screen and looked away while taking the screenshot and did the same when putting it into this post, that's how lol. BUT YEAH ANYWAYS!!! Once again:
PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!!! THIS IS ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OTHERS!!!

Back on my bs about fandoms needing to be more normal about characters choosing to be childless, whether it's canon or a personal headcanon. Some people be sounding like the fandom equivalent of bringing a baby into a relationship to fix it when talking about these characters who would not, should not, and honestly have no reason to have children.
